It is with great pleasure that GJL MicroGamerZ announces the newest addition to our roster. A familiar face to many Starcraft 2 fans during the days of Wings of Liberty, sC provided fans with much to cheer about. After a storied career highlighted by a GSL Code S semifinal appearance, sC retired in October of 2013. After taking a break from competitive play, he is back with a vengeance and as a welcomed addition to our Starcraft 2 roster.

What's the un-retirement count at now for sC?

Sounds about right. I always did consider him the poster boy for un-retiring. Best of luck to him on IVI.

I thought MicroGamerZ team from BW was back. But no, you are an other team ^^

I remember the days when sC used to be considered one of the best Terrans in the world. Ever since he was upset by, at the time, a not-very-well-known DongRaeGu in the LG tournament, he just fell off. Sad. :/
Whatever the case, its great to hear he's back. I hope he manages to do even better now than ever.

He also had this annoying lung-collapsing thing.

sC fighting! Still remember him well as one of the first parade pushing terrans.

i didn't even know he had retired the second time, but good news i guess
|
I'll always have a soft spot for him, just because of his shit luck and his entertaining style. His lung collapsed on him TWICE, when he was at the height of his skill.

Good to see him back
Also, MicroGamerZ is picking up all the ex-MVP guys: Galaxy, Noblesse, sC

I hope to see him do well at some foreign events and potentially make it into a WCS or GSL. Best of luck sC. Now also praying for SuperNova, Symbol and Center to be picked up, I'd love to see SuperNova on a KeSPA team, he would fit right in with his talent for making new builds.

so this isn't MgZ) from back in the day? sad.

There is no reason for their flag to be American........... They have Snakehips in there just to add a single American flag to their pro roster....
lol, jokes jokes, but seriously, pretty much a Korean team.
|
Never heard of this team, surprised to find now three ex-MVP players on it :O

10 North Americans in the Academy, but more importantly, almost all of their management and (seemingly) all of their sponsors are American. That's an American team.

No, its not real famous MgZ from BW.
btw i dont understand those "NA" teams picking random retired korean players who wont achieve anything anymore in SC2, not are they even trying. They just wanna earn some little extra cash for playing ladder and few CWs on NA.
|
I'm always surprised when people throw a random "never heard of this team before". Obviously you haven't been following the top NA scene if you haven't heard of mgz before. No wonder if you don't follow a scene you haven't heard of them, so why even mention it? Didn't know there was a mgz back in BW days though.
Nice pickup!
|
MgZ roster is looking pretty good. Maybe I haven't kept up with the scene as much as I used to but it seems to me like you guys came out of no where. I hope to see you guys do great things.

sC has come back more times than Jesus now.

Personally, i agree about what HighArt was talking about, nobody on this list has really achieved much other then sC, but i think sC is a really solid player so hopefully he plays allot :D
|
huh... sC back out of retirement again? nice! wonder if he'll retire any time soon this time...

The team was mainly Americans a few months ago. A few of the active players have moved to other teams.
Good luck to sC and everyone on the team!

No it is not... Why is the new "fake" mgz linked on liquipedia with the real mgz team?
|
I always love to watch sC play and always thought he had more potential that he showed. However, he has had lot of health issues and wasn't able to showcase his true potential ever since that code S semi-final. I hope he is healthy again and will be able to show us some good games (if he doesn't "retire" again...). One thing I'm starting to get annoyed with, is players retiring and then coming back from retirement over and over. He's the greatest example of this new "trend". Either say "I will be gone undefinitely" like Naniwa or Babyknight did, but stop saying you are retiring and then you just come back for the 3rd or 4th time... It's fairly disrespectful to your fans to be quite blunt.
|
Will he be competing in WCS AM qualifiers?
|
Can we get a statement from someone on this team as to why they chose this name if they have no relation to the BW team? Or maybe they do have some relation that we just don't know about?
|
i want to know if he is serious about playing again or if this is just a weird publicity thing. it would be exciting to see sC make a run at something like WCS AM but if he's only there to ladder with a tag and ring for small clan wars then it is kind of disappointing.
|
I sorta feel like this is more of a semi pro korean team. I dont think any of the players have tried to qualify for anything. I could be completely wrong though

"Micro Gamerz was a well-known Brood War team that has been re-established in StarCraft II: Heart of the Swarm on the 1st of February 2014 with a new roster....
Taking a gander at the roster, it actually looks like to me that literally no one in this clan was from the original MgZ) clan in BW....Why would you have in the description of the team that it was a well-known BW team that was re established in HOTS, if no one was even in MgZ) in BW, that is in this clone clan now? It is actually kinda appauling that people think they can just "re establish well known BW clans" even when they were never in them, or affiliated with them at all....
But whatever....The korean roster looks really strong, can't wait to see more of sC.

The original founder of this team was named CloudAVA who at the time changed his name to Ztak. HOTS MicroGamerZ was formed after a decision to split from ViViD Gaming which is where i came from. Soon after we had heard reports that our leader at the time CloudAVA was a map hacker and that is when the team started taking "bad hits" over social media and we decided it was best to vote him out which is when I took over the team MicroGamerZ. As far as i am concerned i have no ties to the BW team, nor do i claim to have any rights which is why i rebranded the tag to IVI from MgZ.
I was contacted by DetO later on (who at the time was livid) over email explaining the situation to me of BW MgZ, and by that time i had invested so much into the team itself that to rebrand and redo all of the work would cost a significant amount of money. I apologized to him and explained that i would be happy to change the team name, but would need his financial support to back track all of the paperwork, website, etc.
He understood the situation and wished me well with the team. If i had the email still i would post it here.
I would just like to make one thing clear i did not re-establish this team, i inherited it as i was controlling all of the financials and marketing at the time and its what felt best. I came in as a business man and friend of CloudAVA and later learned of the teams history.
I apologized to DetO, and i will apologize to all of you who knew BW MicroGamerZ.

good luck sC. Really loved his play back in the earlier days of GSL. Hope his health issues haven't been a big problem for him lately.

Well I guess since you put it that way, that is pretty understandable, and I apologise for questioning the situation, wish you guys the best of luck.

Looking at his twitter, @FXOsC, he doesn't seem playing so serious. "저 팀리퀴드에 글 올라왔는데 진지하게 다시시작하는게아니고 취미로 하는겁니다." "There is a thread for me on Teamliquid. I am not restarting seriously, but playing as a hobby."

best of luck with sC
