Once again the Koreans proved superior as yfw.San and mYi.StarDust dominated Group D to advance to the Round of 8 of WCS Europe.
San actually opened up the group by dropping his first match on King Sejong Station against Nerchio, mostly due to missing Nerchio's proxy-spire even though his oracle had spotted the surrounding creep. However, San managed to recover and beat Nerchio 2-1 to get to the winner's match. There he looked solid with a 2-0 victory over StarDust securing himself first place in the group and a spot in the quarter finals.
StarDust may have lost to San, but he did not drop a map against the rest of the group as he defeated LiveZerg twice by 2-0 scores to advance in second place. StarDust simply looked one step ahead of his Zerg opponent at all times, even building three stargates to counter a spire he had not even scouted yet in game 2 of their first set on Alterzim. Both advancing players will no doubt be practicing their PvP as San has drawn MC and StarDust has drawn First in the Ro8.
Unfortunately for our foreign hopes, Acer.Nerchio failed to leave much of an impression on the group as he fell out in last place. He managed to beat San in their opening match with clever mutalisk play, but it was all downhill from there as he would lose the next two games to San and get 2-1'd by LiveZerg to fall out of the tournament. LiveZerg managed to earn himself a rematch with StarDust after beating Nerchio in the loser's match, but fared no better the second time around and lost 0-2. Both players are eliminated, but they have secured themselves Premier League spots in WCS Season 3.
We're now all set for WCS EU's knockout stages, where an all EU Final still looks like a possibility with VortiX and Welmu on opposite sides of the bracket. Last season's champion MC will continue his title defense when WCS EU Finals weekend begins on Saturday, Jul 05 4:00pm GMT (GMT+00:00).

I understand losing to Koreans but to livezerg? Wtf nerchio?

The dates are tentative. The WCS Schedule from Blizzard is busted, but they have it on the weekend right before TeSL playoffs, so I assume it's July 5/6

I've got San beating ForGG in the final. Probably 4-2
|
San 3-1 MC Golden 3-2 Vortix Welmu 3-2 ForGG First 3-1 Stardust
San 3-1 Golden First 3-0 Welmu
San 4-2 First
|
If San win vs MC and Welmu win vs ForGG, then San win WCS If MC win vs San then First will win WCS. only 2 i can think of
|
Hmmm I can actually see welmu going all the way to the finals. The foreign hope lives!
|
San looks like a clear favorite to me. Which means MC will probably beat him.
|
ForGG will win this season
|
Good brackets tbh. I actually think Welmu has a shot at getting to the finals if he gets pass ForGG.
|
Why does it have to be the only weekend in 5 years when I have a marriage ? T_T

Add to that the quarter finals of the World Cup, what a busy weekend that is.

You guys are Crazy MC will win this, Final will be Forgg x MC, I'm a Terran I wish ForGG win but it will be MC this time..., forget about his other results, he will win this " MC "

Silly picture says winner of the finals moves on to the Ro8 lol

Since San seems to be a heavy favorite, MC will probably beat him

Someone should talk about how Korean protosses are dominant in Europe, which is different from America and Korea.

these brackets are stupidest thing I've seen in my life. those who met meet again plus its mirrors.

San 4-2 First I love this.... "San will lose first round and ForGG will take the whole thing." "ForGG will lose first round and San will take the whole thing."
I agree more with Shellshock on this one. Pretty solid predictions.

c'mon, one of the foreigners versus the last terran standing? who to cheer for?
|
First and San or First and MC finals, with First winning
If Taeja is doing well, First must rise to contest him ^^
|
|
Vortix vs Welmu Finals incoming.
|
|
This is actually quite good bracket for Welmu. First PvT vs ForGG and after that PvP. PvP is his best match up.
|
|
I miss MMA This ro8 sure lacks him and his exciting playstyle. Anyway, I think this is ForGG's time to win it all - hopefully in an epic finals vs MC.
|
that s a lot of protoss ? ha no , the game is balanced , so this is normal
|
San 3-1 MC Vortix 3-2 Golden Welmu 3-0 ForGG First 3-1 StarDust
San 3-0 Vortix First 3-2 Welmu
First 4-1 San
|
I can live with that. Though I promised I would organize a gift package for ForGG once he wins his first major tournament :D
|
San 3-0 MC Vortix 3-1 Golden Welmu 3-2 ForGG First 3-1 StarDust
San 3-1 Vortix First 3-1 Welmu
First 4-2 San
So MC will probably win the whole thing

This is a premier tournament, so you'll get out of it - perfect!

I hope ForGG is able to beat Welmu. He has to train TvP like a madman. #Terranhope
|
|
I agree with this quite much.
|
ForGG will put Welmu and his BM to rest. PvP semi finals and Grand finals? OMG its patch tosses like WOL all over again.
|
San or ForGG should win the whole thing but I wouldn't count out a foreigner making semis or finals.
|
San 3 - 0 MC VortiX 3 - 0 Golden Welmu 2 - 3 ForGG First 3 - 2 StarDust
VortiX 3 - 0 San ForGG 2 - 3 First
VortiX 4 - 0 First
VortiX shows First who is the fuckin boss by slapping him with his mighty roach dick.
|
Stardust - MC finals.
4:2 either way.

Seriously? Only two Zergs, and they play each other....

So what I am trying to say: There are 3 opponents that player X could have gotten. But there were only 2 balls(names) in cup.
1 player from his ro16 group and +1 guy(player Y) are not in that draw. ESL decides who(player y) is not in that draw

Sorry I didn't actually see the selection process. And wait the other elimination isn't random either is it? It's to avoid Ro4 rematches as well.

The selection process goes as follows: First, all 4 2nd-place finishers are drawn for which spot they'll go in the bracket. Then, since each side of the bracket is supposed to have 1 player from each group, they put in the two first-place finishers from the groups that the 2 second-place finishers didn't play in - since MC and Golden came from groups B and C, they draw from the winners of Groups A and D, Vortix and San. Then, the remaining winners get drawn for the remaining 2 places in the bracket, and the bracket is set.
EDIT: For a little extra clarity, since all of the 2nd-places get drawn first, Vortix knew before the 1st-place finishers were even drawn that he wouldn't face Stardust, because Stardust wound up getting drawn onto the same side of the bracket as ForGG.

So true man, MC is the Necromancy Protoss.
His specialty is under performing a few games so people think he's "done" and then flooring some player everyone thought was much stronger than him.

I suck at Predictions!
Here's my bet though:
(P)San 3-1 (P)MC (Z)VortiX 2-3 (Z)Golden (P)Welmu 3-1 (T)ForGG (P)First 3-0 (P)StarDust
(P)San 3-0 (Z)Golden (P)Welmu 2-3 (P)First
(P)San 2-4 (P)First
I know Vortix is a really good and strong player, and the hope of Europe if anything, but it's a ZvZ matchup.. :/
|
first vs stardust foreclosed final-.-
|
Welmu vs Vortix finals. One can only hope ...
|
WCS Europe is looking a lot like WCS American these days, full of Koreans. If I wanted to see Koreans play, I'd watch the GSL and Proleague.
I wish someone at Blizzard had taken an economics class, become monopolies aren't good.

MC 3-1 San VortiX 3-2 Golden Welmu 3-1 ForGG StarDust 3-2 First
MC 3-0 VortiX StarDust 3-2 Welmu
MC 4-2 StarDust

I'm rooting for MC but San is super strong
|
I predict Welmu to 4-3 San in the finals. Onwards to Global Finals!
