It was a good day for Millenium as (Z)Mill.VortiX and (T)Mill.ForGG were the first two players to advance to the quarterfinals of WCS EU Season 2.

Vortix lived up to his reputation as one of the best foreigners in the world right now by claiming first place in his group on his Millenium debut. He opened the evening by soundly defeating Harstem 2-0 with a roach/ling/infestor composition in game 1 and an unexpectedly strong roach pressure in game 2. In the winner's match, Vortix dropped the first game to ForGG's banshee/hellion/Thor play on Alterzim, but took game two with another roach based attack. While he did take damage from ForGG's cloaked banshees, he did more than enough in return and was able to close out the game. On the final map, Vortix managed to hold off ForGG's parade style push for long enough to win a big fight and carried that momentum to win the game and advance early with a 4-1 map score. ForGG was unfazed by his loss and went on to defeat Harstem 2-1 to reach the Ro16 in second place.

Despite his strong results as of late, (Z)Liquid`Snute unfortunately didn't appear to be at his best as he fell out of the group in last place. Although group winner Vortix called him the best foreigner in his pre-match interview, the evening saw the Norwegian wonder's claim to the foreigner throne dented with his early exit. His inability to properly withstand ForGG's 2 rax in games 1 and 3 forced him into the loser's match, where (P)Fnatic.Harstem's immortal/sentry push in three straight games proved too much to handle. Notably, Harstem used two warp prisms in game 3 with one dropping zealots in the main while the other was used to reinforce his push. In his post match interview, Harstem confessed that he didn't intend to build two, but that he would continue to do so given the success he had with it. Harstem would go on to lose to ForGG in the final match ending his run through WCS EU.

Next game day -
Group B:
(P)Welmu, (P)MC, (P)ToD, (T)YoDa

Players Qualified for the Ro8:
(Z)VortiX
(T)ForGG

ForGG showed some really well prepared and adaptive play today, so I'm glad he made it. However he'll need to step up his game for the next round. Sad that Snute didn't make it, he just wasn't able to withstand the new Hellbat pushes.

ForGG played much better than I was expecting today. Not surprised to see Vortix come out in first though. He's definitely been playing well lately.

The third and fourth rows of the results table are screwed up. The winner's match was Vortix:ForGG, and the losers's match was Harstem:Snute, right?

yeah. it's probably listed like that because ESL started playing WCS AM and EU in the order of
Initial Match 1
Initial Match 2
Losers' Match
Winners' Match

esl is doing this for wcs eu and america to be "different" from gsl. it wouldnt be any more entertaining watching which loser gets to play the winner vs loser match, AFTER the winners match. i much prefer gsls order

I like the new match order. It gives the winners of the first matches a bit more time to rest before the winners game.
OT - GG to Vortix, even though it was a little weird to see him wearing the Millenium shirt

Seems like a bit of a cop out. He played very greedy vs both ForGG and Harstem, and the hellbat push only accounted for one loss. He saw the same build 3x from Harstem but didn't change his playstyle. He was just outplayed today.

Idk, something must have made him very insecure, cause choo choo defense is like basic knowledge when playing zerg. For instance in game 3 when he build random zerglings instead of droning up.

I wonder if Home Story Cup took it out of Snute and Harstem. Oh well. This was a tough group I suppose.

Harstem has been playing really well lately. I'm sure you will do even better in season 3.
