Introducing Sandisk
In what is going to be the most stacked SHOUTcraft lineup, perhaps even the most stacked online invitational lineup in Starcraft 2 history, we are happy to welcome our sponsor SanDisk who are dipping their toes into the eSports waters for the first time. SanDisk is a global leader in flash memory storage solutions, one of the largest on the planet. SanDisk has been involved in gaming for a very longtime, producing high performance SSDs for demanding PC gamers, USB, SD and Memory stick products for handheld gaming devices. SanDisk will be unveiling a new performance product for PC gamers alongside this event. We hope to give SanDisk a great first experience in eSports with the passionate Starcraft 2 fanbase.
Format
Once again we are shaking things up for the format this time around. We want to make sure the viewers get to see more matchups in a format that doesn't take all night. We'll be using the fairly standard dual-tournament format for the group stage. 2 groups of 4 will battle it out, 4 players will be eliminated, 4 will advance. Advancing in first place will give a player the edge, as they will play against the 2nd place player from the opposite group. That's where things start to get intense. These players are the best of the best so what better way to experience their electrifying skill than to watch them battle it out in a BO7? Every match from the RO4 onwards will be BO7 format, which will include a veto for each player, a 7 map pool and map repetition where necessary. We've crafted this format after consulting numerous progamers and we've agreed that this allows players to show their full range of playstyles and gives absolute classic matchs to the viewers. It's rare to get to see even two of these players battle it out in a Best of 7, let alone four and of course we'll be including a bronze match to determine 3rd place, giving us yet another fantastic series to watch. As a result of this format, the Sandisk SHOUTcraft Invitational will take place over a 4 day period.
Lineup
After a long time spent building relationships with the Korean teams we've confirmed an incredible lineup for this event. Some of the players you'll be seeing here have never competed in an online invitational. A unique cooperation with Korean teams has given us the opportunity to enjoy games from players rarely seen outside of Proleague. These guys don't just play any tournament, they only compete in the best, so we hope to live up to the challenge. In return, we are reaching out to the Korean fanbase to provide them with a unique experience. The tournament will be cast in Korean direct from the Axiom teamhouse, featuring our lineup of progamers as expert analysts. Joining the Korean cast and cast in English by TotalBiscuit and Artosis, we have the very best from China, with the guys over at NeoTV providing their commentary expertise for the Chinese audience. This is a unique event and we wanted to make sure we reached out to audiences flourishing in the Asian territories.
We will be announcing 1 new player every day. I doubt you will be disappointed. Some of these players are practically never seen in online events outside of qualifiers. We are confident that this is pound for pound the best lineup you have ever seen in an online invitational.
Map pool
Frost Outboxer v1.1 Habitation Station The King Sejong Station Merry Go Round Overgrowth Waystation
Double veto per player in RO8. 1 veto per player in RO4 onwards, map pool repeats if it goes to game 6 or further.
It's a pleasure to be returning with the SHOUTcraft Invitational and we'd like to thank Sandisk for making that possible.
Sweet! I love my Sandisk Sansa Clip, 15 hours of music in something small as a box of matches and no worry my phone will die on the road. It would be cool if they sponsored Axiom

Shame it's the same weekend as HSC IX tho.
We had a very specific window to execute this in and it happened to fall on the HSC weekend. We have taken painstaking measures to avoid an overlap with them.
As for our player lineup. The most stacked online tournament you've ever seen. Flash is the handsome, superstar tip of the iceberg.
I love the fact that you are casting with Artosis, never saw you two casting together and I think that it will be great. Second, you just announced Flash as first player, I mean wtf, I expect to see Zest, Soulkey, Jaedong, Innovation, Maru and more of them, can't wait! :D

damn, I just checked it out and I need to get one.
If Flash is actually going to set the tone for the rest of the lineup, this lineup will be fucking crazy, like some actually huge names. I haven't been this excited for a online tournament in years. This is what I want to see and not the same ok pro players who play in every single tournament there is.

The lineup is insane and all locked in. I went out of my way to make sure that it was not "the same old faces". Trust me, there's a reason you see the same old faces all the time, getting those who aren't the same old faces is very difficult, but we managed it.
Woah. Nice. But I'm afraid Flash vs Jeadong would end up with a Flash 4 - 0 since even Heromarine has beaten Jaedong in a TvZ recently. Something like soO vs Innovation would be a lot cooler.

A unique cooperation with KeSPA has given us the opportunity to enjoy games from players rarely seen outside of Proleague.
Even though I like the thought of seeing more Kespa players participate, I hope this doesnt mean this tournaments lineup will mostly be Kespa players. As I would also like to see how well they do against the "foreigners" (or rather Koreans in foreign countries) aside from the occasional apperances, I hope the mix is good.

omg, it's fascinating how seeing a trailer gets me hyped up even though I shoul know better - litereally from "oh, whats that" to "heck, yeah" ..... that announcement of the first invitee o.0
Great marketing, hopefully the TO will get alot of viewers (and great games) !

Interesting to see that everyone who says that is German.
I understand you are fans of TaKe, however since it will be running at 1am onwards, we don't anticipate any clashes with HSC nor do we actually expect too many Europeans to tune in. It is unfortunate that HSC happened to land in the same dates as our planned project, particularly when we had a very specific timeframe we had to hit for the benefit of the sponsor, but it is what it is.
wow. this looks like its going to be the biggest shoutcraft TB has ever hosted.
I expect some axiom players (obviously) as well as maybe someone from the chinese scene (think Jim or Top) to get some hype from NeoTV. not sure about foreigners since there are only 8 slots, but maybe scarlett or stephano just for the hell of it.
loving the bo7 semis and finals and 3rd place match. well done tb

More Starcraft on the same weekend is good for me, no problem at all. Something to tune into right after HSC . It didn't hurt Redbull back then and they crosspromoted their events. Take sent his viewers straight over to Redbull at the end of his stream, I'm sure he will do the same with the Shoutcraft Invitational .

I hope the VODs will be up fast every day, as I'll want to check those out the first thing in the morning after getting up. Unfortunate EU times, but understandably not all tournaments can cater to all timezones.
And everyone mentions Flash, which is obviously fantastic, but I'm even more pumped about seeing Bo7s for Ro4+, there's nothing worse than having an absolutely sick semi finals only for it to be over in 30 minutes.
WHAT FLASHU?!?! I got the sickest goosebumps as I saw his name on the players list. Please let us see some Flash vs Jaedong<3 SO HYPE!! I'm gonna support the shit out of this now.

Wasn't meant to be critical, I can only guess how much work it takes to organize something decent like this and i'm happy watching 60hours of topnotch sc2 content during the weekend.
I might need to save up some sleep during the upcoming weekend tho.
People often say that one of the best things fans can do is to support the sponsors. Well, timing is sure a funny thing. My laptop is a giant pile of dust and fragmented plastic, and I've been looking for a while for a way to transfer my data over when I upgrade. Would you look at that? A new SHOUTCraft, being sponsored by a memory storage device company! That certainly helps in this process! Thanks, TB!

Probably not. Our target markets for this event are America, Korea and China. Europeans are of course free to watch the spoiler-free vods which will be up shortly afterwards.

I would support SanDisk but I already have a memory stick and two 64GM microSD cards from them and they were pretty awesome value for money too!

Previous SHOUTCRAFTs have had a tip jar. Don't see it mentioned for this one though so probably not.
If the rest of the players are of flash's caliber, I don't think they need the extra money. Though, knowing flash has five of my pounds is actually a comforting thought.
Stay strong TB. I know I and a lot of other people came on uneasy, but you are an inspiration not for just a community of great people, but as a person.
It's aweosme giving the better Proleague players the chance, whose teams don't have enough $ to send sem. Awesome!eou have to invite Bbyong (ok he's CODE S, but still), Jaedong and MKP!

If they've worked with KeSPA to get access to players you don't see out in the "wild" much, then it probably isn't too hard to piece down roughly who all they'd have been after.
- Flash (kind of an obvious "get" if you can) - Soulkey - Parting - TY - Bbyong - Maru - soO - Rain - MarineKing - $o$
Some combination of those will be in this. The point of getting access to KeSPA players is to get GSL or ProLoeague Ace level players. Any of those are big "gets".
The weird thing is figuring out who "outside" of the KeSPA players will be joining. I'd expect 1 of Innovation or MC, though MC might already be committed to HomeStory Cup. With a good number of the foreigner scene likely at HSC, I'm not really sure who else might join up for this. Snute & Polt should be a HSC, which leaves very thin the list of non-KeSPA players that can put up a fight. Bomber making an appearance could be really good.
Will Ryung get a chance to defend his house title? Stephano won ShoutCraft 4, so there may be a good chance Stephano and his Swarm Hosts show up to piss the ever loving hell out of the Koreans.
Let me change that last bit: PLEASE HAVE STEPHANO THERE TO PISS THE EVER LOVING HELL OUT OF THE KOREANS! Stephano vs SoulKey could break the Internet.
Has there ever been an SC2 tournament with additional prize money by donations from the fans?? My nephew (who does play 2v2 with me) is a keen DoTA2 fan and keeps talking about the millions they have raised. I know the same mechanic cannot work with SC2 and the fan base is a fraction of LoL and DoTA but I would be interested in seeing how it boosts prize money. And yes I would contribute.

Yes there have been a few.
Sponsors generally don't like it though. If they sponsor a tournament it's THEIR tournament, they don't want to be undermined by crowd funding.
I am in the market for a new flash drive because my last one just got destroyed a few days ago. What would be the best way to buy from sandisk to show it is because of this? (I kind of need my new one before friday).

Whoa. I don't know what the next stage from "must watch" is, but this just became that.
We wanted to move away from the idea of a tournament of "fan favourites" which we've done in the past towards pure, raw skill. Obviously that's also something that generates star power, but we wanna see the best fight it out and frankly the best are Korean.

Seriously, as someone who prefers skill over favouritism, I happy with the idea. Also I like that you're experimenting with something different.
Well yes, it is convenient that extremely skilled players also happen to have large fanbases. Some people might doubt Flash but his Proleague record speaks for itself. I'm interested to see how he performs here.
Everything about this sounds simply fantastic! I hope this event will get hyped up enough to gather a large following, because it definitely deserves it.

I guess the only question is:
Is there enough money on the line for $o$ to be good in this?
I'm very interested to hear how Flash's screaming fangirls are going to be handled for this online tournament? Maybe have them behind Artosis at his place? Or do the American way and have a screaming fangirl track
KK, so mix of proleague and non, no jaedong or Stork, best lineup ever.
then its gonna be
Flash Maru (edit - Or Polt if want perfect 50/50 proleague and non - but TB says not Same Old Faces) Innovation Soulkey Hyun Parting San (or MC, but I hope San - esp. good in online) Rain
Hyun, Innovation and San are sorta Same Old Faces, but anyone good outside of Proleague is, I guess.

If I understood well TB, there will be at least one top "foreigner" korean in the mix of Kespa players. Well he beat him in the winner bracket 2-0 but then met him later in the tournament, was up 2-0 because of extented series but Life won 4 games in a row. It was MLG Fall 2012. So I don't call it a victory for Flash.
The only real victory he has against Life is in Proleague 2014 Round 3.
Flash and now Life, this just getting cooler and cooler.
I'd be extremely shocked if INnoVation doesn't participate. Top tier player, plays in a lot of online tournaments, until recently lived in the Axiom team house. Yeah I think he'll be one of the 8.

Ew no joke, I picked players who did very well for their teams in PL but failed in individual leagues (hence the lack of Maru etc.). Effort has a terrible record but cmon, he won the ace match against Maru and killed Flash and TY in the playoffs; MKP did well compared to the rest of Prime I guess?

Until recently? Where is he now?
His parents moved to Seoul recently, so he lives with them now.

Not really fond of HerO at all, and I think that he is quite overrated, but all in all I don't really mind him being in this tournament. Other three names are amazing though.

Well, remember, TB is not only an awesome member of the community. He is also the owner of a Korean team. A korean team that won the last GSTL. He's kind of a big deal... I'd imagine KeSPA, at the very least, respect TB for his position in SC2, at the most, listen to what he has to say about the foreign audience. He clearly knows what he's on about.
He's be saying for ages the korean scene needs to be more inclusive for foreigner fans.
TB's like "Well, if you won't do it. I fucking will".
This could also be a way of Kespa getting a relationship with the owner of a popular team with the global audience and as a way to give an option to put Axiom in Proleague.
But that's just me thinking, only TB knows for sure if the guys want to play in PL.

I'd guess word of mouth among the Korean players might have something to do with it. The Axiom players seems to be treated pretty well and that probably gets around in the Korean scene. Respect and credibility would probably be important to be able to make something like this happen.
Whatever is the case I hope it will be successful and we might be seeing more of these kinds of online tournaments with top Korean's in them.

Proleague is not worth playing if you're not a KeSPA team. The whole league is ingeniously designed to be a massive promotional tool for KeSPAs members. Unlike foreign teams, the KeSPA sponsors are the people that run both KeSPA and the teams themselves, they are directly involved in every day decision making, up to and including who plays in what tournament. This level of control and their focus on the Korean market means that Proleague is a massive promotional vehicle for their brands and generates extremely good ROI. Notice that every KeSPA team (not counting the recent refugees from eSF) is named after their title sponsor? The KeSPA teams are extensions of their sponsors brands and Proleague is the vehicle they use to deliver that message to the masses.
Here's what happens if you're not one of those brands. Your exposure is very limited. Proleagues viewership isn't amazing in foreign territories due to the time it runs. WCS is a lot better for that kind of thing. On top of that, you need 1) a large team to be effective, larger than Axiom certainly. We are too small, we'd be analyzed to death by KeSPA teams coaching staff, we don't have the resources they do. 2) a team that is willing to be grounded in Korea for the entire season. Even much larger teams don't send many of their players out to foreign events. Our guys would have to give up WCS America, which is an almost guaranteed paycheque every season, we wouldn't be able to attend many foreign events at all due to Proleague.
We don't have Korean sponsors, so us being in Proleague that's marketed towards the Korean audience wouldn't benefit our sponsors all that much. Our focus up to this point has been on turning our players into household names in the foreign fanbase, which has worked fairly well up to this point. Entering Proleague even with a coalition team would be for little more than glory. It's hubris and not conducive to a sustainable team. You saw what it did to EG-TL, it's a fools errand if you're not already a KeSPA team. I hope Proleague keeps on going, it's amazing and KeSPA set up a really smart system to make sure their teams are sustainable, but the downside of that is that coming in from the outside isn't generally beneficial.

Interesting. So you don't think that there is anything to gain for your team, or the players on your team, by participating in proleague - even if you managed to do very well? Or is the point that you couldn't make it work due to finances, sacrifices and study involved.

If you win Proleague you get $47,000, just a little more than what we got for winning GSTL. There's also a smaller prize ($14k) for each Round playoff win. The tournament runs for more than half a year. Prize money wise it's not particularly good, especially since you're splitting it with the entire team. The reason these teams play Proleague is because Proleague was created by KeSPA as a way to market their brands. If you can't market your brand there then you are in a situation where you are locked down in Korea for 8 months, playing in an event that doesn't get that many foreign viewers compared to something like WCS, giving up opportunities all over the globe as well as WCS outside of Korea and the returns on it even if you actually won, are not that great. Let's say we won Proleague, yeah that's impressive, but does that get us more sponsors? We won GSTL, it didn't get us any more sponsors. We've been placing highly all year round in tournaments, the sponsors don't seem to care. Unless we committed big time to trying to get Korean sponsors (and the existing teams are already struggling to do that), Proleague for us would be a really bad business move and probably end up killing the team. Proleague is great for KeSPA teams, a win in Proleague is a massive boost to the respective brand, as it should be, because KeSPA is the one who runs it, not so good for everyone else.
That's really interesting,Thanks for the insight TB.
May I ask a few questions about how this came about? The tournament I mean. What's you relationship to KeSPA? Was there any resistance to this, or were they happy to work with you?
Is this a move to try and make KeSPA more foreign friendly? Or were you just like "I wanna make a sick tournament with the best players in the world!"?

The tournament came about through talks with Sandisk and their desire to test the waters with eSports. I'm an established brand and have a track record of delivering a proven product, so it made sense for their initial budget to be spent on a tournament. I've been wanting to do SHOUTcraft Korea for ages, because right now I firmly believe that Koreans actually have very limited opportunities inside their own country. GSL and Proleague are the only games in town. If you want to play online cups you have to play on other servers, often at awful times of night, dealing with lag and the language barrier. I wanted to do something specifically in Korea and also connect with the Korean audience.
I don't have a formal relationship with KeSPA as an organization, I have relationships with some of the KeSPA teams. There was no resistance to it, only a case of some teams declining the offer because they were focusing on Proleague, which is completely understandable. By the end of it were able to secure 4 great players from KeSPA teams and 4 players from other teams who were all top-notch.
I hope if anything this is a proof of concept and it may lead to a more formal relationship with KeSPA and further cooperation. I want to make it clear, as it was with Axiom, that we are coming to help the scene rather than meddle in it.
Is Jin Air in with the originals given they used to be Team 8? I'm still holding out for $O$ and Maru to be involved.
Also in regards to ProLeague, would there ever be a chance for Impact to be involved as a small kind of partnership a la Liquid HerO with IM seeing as he's focused on competing in Korea or would you rather have him for DreamHacks and IEMs?
I hope Jin Air and SKT1 weren't teams that declined to let any players participate, that would rule out so many great players (Rain, Soulkey, sOs, PartinG, Maru the list goes on).
Hey totalbiscuit any chance KeSPA can have team league showmatch with some of the best overseas teams? Perhaps when this year's PL is over. Would love to see it.

I honestly feel that SKT, with their stacked team roster, it wouldn't really make a difference if they sent just one or two player for this showmatch.

TB said that some PL teams want to join SHOUTcraft Clan Wars when PL finished.
You could say that for any player with a big following, Flash at least is a monster at proleague and has proven he is a worthy opponent in this tournament.

Inviting Flash was 17-10 in Proleague overall, 3-1 in Ace matchs and 5-1 in Round 3 based. Naturally I'd want to invite the statistically best Terran in Proleague to my tournament. Maru is only the second best, he is tied on win % and has a worse record in ace matches.
It's kind of a dumb accusation anyway, if Flash was PR based why wouldn't TB just name him last and build to it? Especially considering the talent and rep of the other players he's already revealed and presumably those yet to come.

My prediction: The last 2 are gonna be the Woongjin boys. I find it highly unlikely that TB didn't at least ask $o$, and if he could convince herO and Flash, I doubt there are many who would say no.

It's down to the teams. TB said earlier in the thread that some teams declined from letting there players compete at the moment due to fact they really want to focus on Proleague. It's very possible that SKT and Jin Air are these teams.
Id be happy with anyone else on KT (aka zest or ty), and the boys from Jinair (sos, maru). Innovation wouldn't make me frown either. And if you get innovation, soulkey also must get in.
If I recall correctly, TB mentioned in this thread that there will be 4 Kespa players and 4 non-Kespa players. Right now, there are 3 each. I'm going to assume that TB will announce a Terran and Zerg next to continue the pattern. Innovation seems to be the likely candidate, and seeing that he is currently non-Kespa, we are left with Kespa Zergs. Soulkey, Hydra, Effort, sOO, Action, Armani, Rogue, etc. Probably Soulkey or Soo imo.

Now that I think of it, Zest, Soulkey and Innovation are playing GSL on June 6, so I don't think they're gonna be the next invited players for this event.
After thinking about who the next 2 invites could be i feel it might be Roro and MKP. My reasons are that as we all know its gonna be 1 more kespa and 1 more non-kespa player.Well as we can probably predict the two teams that declined to play were prob SKT1 and Jin Air. Then we have the gsl group the same day so innovation soulkey and zest seem unlikely. Also stork bomber jd and taeja will be at homestory so that eliminates thoose legends. Leaving only Roro TY Mvp and MKP and i feel it would be Roro since he is a gsl champion and 1 of the best players in proleague atm also samsung ace. Then the hard choice between MKP and Mvp but with MKP playing much better recently and performing quite well in proleague i feel he would be one of the most likely picks for the non-kespa player. Leave any feedback on what you think!!!
Ok since the predictions are getting pretty... predictable, let's spice things up. Why not Jaedong? Him vs Flash would certainly attract viewers (although RorO, SK or soO would probably play one billion times better..)
Please don't start this again... im pretty sure its been said like 50 times in this thread about how TB already announced JD was playing in homestory cup and therefore couldn't participate in this.
Really surprised to see Innovation, as he has GSL matches on the 6th. Though, if he's in the first group, then there should be no conflicting time issues there, other than the fact that he'd be participating in an online tournament when he could be practicing. But, hey, if Innovation thinks he can do it, so do I!
But, similarly, I doubt the last guy will be Zest/Soulkey as they ALSO has GSL matches (same group)!! Definitely don't expect Maru, as that'd make 4 terrans and 2 of the other race. Who knows who it could be!
I don't think the 8th player will be a protoss since it went like this T, Z, P, T, Z, P, T so it will probably be a zerg but who knows. Maybe the last player will be Balloon lol.
Honest vote would be Impact, though. While he might not be quite on the same level, he's shown he has pretty great potential, he's a Zerg (we have 3 T so I imagine it'd be P or Z now...), and he's on Axiom. Again, I truly doubt Zest would participate in something when GSL is so close. Same with Soulkey, not to mention SKT not having any other participating players here (they might not be interested?)... Regardless, I'd be really pleased with ANY player on that poll.
TB never disappoints! (Hey, what if he really was trolling and it IS JD after all??)
He has been releasing players in the same order in terms of race, so it's very likely it's a zerg.. but even if that's wasn't I'd still say Soulkey because Soulkey

Judging by the order of invites(T->Z->P->T->Z->P->T), Soulkey has the highest chance, but it could be SoO, people didn't think about him.
Not sure it will be Soulkey because there is no SKT1 players so maybe the team wasn't interested in letting any of their players play in this in order to concentrate on Proleague, but I really hope it is him.
-Assuming it can't be from Jin Air or SKT -Has to be Z or P for racial balance -Can't be at another event -Probably very high in proleague stats if in proleague -Possibly has to not be an SC1 player, because TB said there would be a mix and there are already 4 from BW (Inno, Flash, BByong, herO)
That leaves Impact, Zest, RorO, and Creator. I'm leaving out Creator because Zest is more popular and more accomplished in Proleague.
+s: Zest: highest not-already-invited P in SPL, more wins than RorO (by one) RorO: 3rd highest Z in SPL, below ByuL(not in the poll) and Soulkey (SKT), higher win percentage than Zest Impact: From non-KeSPA team (in the public eye at least, no one knew Mekia), popular outside of Korea
-s: Zest: another player from KT (might want to represent more teams), lower win % than RorO, doesn't fit the KeSPA/International player balance RorO: no one from Samsung yet (not sure if they agreed to this event), less wins than Zest, doesn't fit the KeSPA/International player balance Impact: arguably less skilled than Zest and RorO
I think the last player will be Zest. There are several reasons for it:
TB has said that 4 players will be from original Kespa teams.
Out of the players in poll, we can eliminate Jaedong (HSC), Impact (not currently on original Kespa team), Maru (there will not be 4 terrans, I can almost guarantee it), MKP (same as Maru + not original), Creator (not original), TY (terran) and Fantasy (terran).
So we are left with Soulkey, RorO, Zest and PartinG.
There is another post by TB, stating several of Kespa teams declined participation due to Proleague focus. 2 teams that definitely did not decline it are CJ and KT - the only player from those two teams in the list is Zest.
Obviously, there may be a team that did not decline, just didn't had another player in this, which may mean SKT with Soulkey or Parting or Samsung with RorO.
If I would have to bet, I think it is about 50% going to be Zest (already confirmed that KT is participating, not terran), 30% Soulkey (not terran, but not confirmed that SKT is participating), 15% RorO (I think Samsung declined participation on 99%, they have the most to lose as they basically need to win this round in order to have chance to qualify for playoffs) and 5% Parting (I don't really know why, I just strongly believe Parting is not a part of this).
Also last thing - TB said he left the best for last. And what could be better than current GSL champion?! (btw this is another reason why I don't really think it is gonna be Parting - from the already confirmed players, I don't think Parting is toeb considered 'the best'
Disclaimer: There was a rumor that TB said somewhere it is going to be 3T, 3Z and 2P but I was unable to confirm this and I checked every single of his comments here - if someone has link to such comment, pls let me know - in that case it really is Soulkey or RorO.
Wait guys if you think about what we have gathered and think about the fact he said original kespa players well. INnoVation cj herO Flash and Bbyong are original kespa while Life HerO and DRG are non-kespa. Then also the fact that it was rumored to be 3t-3z-2p. Also there is a certain zerg who isn't playing in homestory cup and has been on fire lately. That zerg is HyuN he has never been on kespa he is arguably the best zerg in the world and it would explain his disappearance at homestory cup.

Pretty sure it won't be HyuN. The entire thing will likely be played on the Korean server which would suck for Hyun because he's in Europe. It would also mean if he wants to compete he'd have to start playing at 2am which wouldn''t be practical at all.
I'm pretty sure it'll be Zest. Leaving the GSL champ till last makes perfect sense.

Seemed to be pretty clear from all the hints/options :p So happy we have both Wooki and herO in this!
A bit disappointed... I mean, he is amazing player and I don't have problem with him being in it at all, just hoped for 1 more Zerg. Oh well, still have high hopes for this tourney, Life to take it all! :D
Kind of disappointed that SKT decided not to participate if true. Would have liked to see Rain and/or Parting over HerO or even herO who seems to be in a slump recently. Still should be good though, thanks TB.

I assume Jin Air and SKT1 were among the teams that declined to take part. I would imagine TB asked for players like Soulkey, Rain, Maru and sOs before players like herO, HerO and Bbyong.
But it really doesn't matter too much because the tournament is kind of as stacked as you're gonna get and is going to be fucking awesome regardless of the fact that it's missing the SKT1 and Jin Air aces.
There are some 20 championships spread among the 8 players in this tournament. Pretty good, I'd say. I can't think of very many tournaments that can match this roster, certainly no online invitationals.

I really do hope that the vods will be totally spoiler free and by that I mean when, for example, play-off vods are uploaded there won't be any player names in the title or description. There's no point watching the play-off from the vod if you got a glimpse of the grand final vod name and saw who's gonna be in it.

There are closer to 30 championships in this tournament if we're counting Flash's BW wins, which I consciously didn't. Maybe I should have specified that tt

I'll keep them all spoiler free. I gotta say this again: the players, hype, and intros for this has been amazing! Not to mention that there were 7 SKT players in the GSL Ro16, so all of those players would be preparing for that tournament, and the practice partners in the house would be helping their teammates for the GSL (not that SHOUTcraft would be targeting practice partners for this anyways)

All songs are by Frank Klepacki (made the legendary CnC and Red Alert music) and their names are in the description of the video (e.g. matchup vid song is Frank Klepacki - Sonic Pain)
Er why does it say happy birthday? My bday is tomorrow and I just checked my profile and it has the correct date lol...nice touch though I like it.
This event is so fucking stacked and I'm so stoked for it, I'm pleased TB put it on the main channel. I really want this event to be a success to prove to sponsors that SC2 is very much alive and worth investing in.

Yeah that is kind of weird. Inno might not perform as well as expected since he may be saving strength/hiding strats for GSL.

I think it's based on KST I could be wrong though.

Anyone else worried for Flash? I'm having a hard time seeing him beat the winner of Inno/Life, which of course would require the win over herO - no small feat.

Oh right that makes sense. Really nice touch though that they do that for everybody.
just want to also add that I, along with many others, are very excited for this. The amount of work and organization it takes to put this together prompts me to reach out and say "Thank you".
Also with TotalBiscuits commanding voice along with Artosis's insight we should be in store for some wonderful commentary. I am looking forward to some entertaining banter moments between TB and Artosis. :D
Wow these first round matchups o_O. HerO vs DRG is a matchup you'd expect to see in GSL 2012 or something this is great. Innovation vs Life is always pretty hype and one of the neo-rivalries of international tournaments. Zest vs Bbyong... how great is that? I just hope Flash has a good showing against herO.

What? I think everyone here could take Bbyong (yes even HerO if he's back to his IEM Cologne form). Bbyong has proven himself to be good lately but not significantly better than the rest here.

HerO has proven to be significantly worse tho.
Eh, that's debatable. HerO in form can take anyone and has been for years now. Bbyong is only recently running hot.

You know bad things will happen if he goes Oracle after robo vs Bbyong. (;

Well the tournament is this week and lately HerO has been really bad both in terms of results and play. If he resurrects (and DRG too) it'd be awesome but i doubt it

bbyong has been running hot all of 2014
Especially with his float to the gold shenanigans, somehow he always wins with that strat.

"Gangnam Terran" I actually like when things like that have names, think it's cool and makes it more memorable.

Innovation vs Life?! RIP your hopes and dreams GumBa! All the other matchups look sickkkk as well. Will tune in as much as I possibly can. Hopefully we give Sandisk a great impression

Life? How? He beat Innovation at Dreamhack and can get a free win if needed by playing against Flash in a series that's more than 1 map.
I'm actually quite interested in seeing Group A, because 1) Flash... 2) Life performed... poorly... in the last GSL group... 3) Innovation has been on a rampage (He's currently first on Aligulac, but obviously ATC easy EU kills inflate his rating a huge amount) and 4) This is very similar to that one GSL group that TB linked. I'm feeling an Innovation + Flash victory this time around, though!!
If Life performs like he did earlier, I'd be very surprised to see him come out on top here.

Alright folks. So obviously the time is not ideal for the Europeans. Our solution to that is to do an official rebroadcast of the show. Here's what we wanna do, rerun and complete the broadcast before Homestory Cup Day 2 starts, which would be at 2pm CST. So the show will probably be about 5 hours tonight give or take, we'll target the broadcast for about 8am CST, to wrap up just before HSC begins to prevent overlap.
I've never done a rebroadcast via Twitch before and since I'm gonna be asleep, if anything goes wrong, I can't do jack about it, but I figure it's better than not having anything at all for the Europeans other than waiting for the vods or subbing to the channel to watch the raw twitch vod.

waiting for vods has never been a problem with your fast uploads =)
TB, how soon after the event are the VODs likely to be up?
Also, thank you for being so awesome. I'm fairly new to SC2 and your shoutcraft clan wars were a great introduction for me. Learned a lot about the game and saw some really fun matches.

I'll keep them all spoiler free. The only ones I'm going to put names on are the initial matchs of each group, everything else will be described as "Group Stage Winners Match, Group Stage Losers Match, Group Stage Losers Final, Semi Final A, Semi Final B, Bronze Match and Grand Final". All series will be an all-in one VoD and will include anti-spoiler filler material where necessary to pad the video length out.

I can't really give a guarantee. The process goes something like this.
1) VoDs are exported raw to Youtube 2) VoDs are downloaded from Youtube as mp4 3) VoDs are cut, removing breaks. Anti-spoiler is added where necessary 4) VoDs are re-encoded 5) VoDs are reuploaded 6) VoDs must then process on Youtube.
The time this can take varies wildly. Sometimes we can do it in an hour or two. Sometimes the processing gets stuck and takes forever.
Uncut vods will be available immediately for Twitch subscribers.

Tears of joy will only come when Life, HerO, or Bomber win blizzcon, so you'll have to wait until November

Okay, it's got to be connected but as nobody has remarked on it in the thread before that I saw...Is this the reason the Team Liquid logo has been wearing the hat?

I believe someone inquired about that somewhere (might have been a different thread). I think it is just to show support for TB overall, since he's also going through some pretty rough health issues (see link).

Just curious, why do you need steps 1 and 2? Your broadcasting software should be able to save a local copy of your stream in mp4 format, so you can begin cutting immediately once the live stream ends. Also re-encoding (step 4) shouldn't be necessary unless you need better granularity than 2 second keyframes or you're doing more than just cutting.

Premiere hates the shit out of what xsplit and obs push out as VoDs. It refuses to load it. It's literally faster to export to Youtube and download their MP4 than it is to run conversion on those files, particularly since they often result in audio desync.
that was pretty amazing from zest yet DRG should've just won that - he had 4base against two, he could've maxed out and crushed zest but he went in piece by piece
