Retiring doesn't really mean anything anymore in the SC2 scene

MB playing so much adds additional pressure in tournament settings, don't retire

Really hope he doesn't. He's a fun player to have around, I've casted him a couple times too! A LOT of players seem to have this ''syndrome'' of playing well on practice but NEVER performing at tourneys themselves. Really weird.

you are a living proof

Maybe TargA needs to find solid practice partners, have more structure when it comes to practicing (TLO style) etc. Maybe take a few months off. It's so easy to call out retirement after a loss like that. Plus he says that he's still enjoying the game.

Of course retirement means a lot. It means a player who we've enjoyed watching all this time is gone. I think the word is also acceptable to use when going from full time pro to part time.

Problem is gamers are the number 1 abusers of this word. They usually rage on twitter after a lose and now they're "retired."

In this case, it's a maybe so no need for a thread IMO.

Yeah, it doesnt mean that much, but it's also cuz the player doesn't know he'll come back later on. SOmetimes they find that they just needed an extended break for a while... Then they can come back and play again. Sometimes however, it's actually what they wanted or needed and they're fine to stay away.

Always sad to see players leave but I feel sc2 will be in a healthier place with more retirements. There are way more progamers than what the scene can actually support.

Am I missing someone?

Liquipedia says Blackcidy and SonG but they never were on same level as names I earlier said.

It says 'most likely' retiring, hasn't confirmed yet. Also just came right after a disappointing loss, give him some time to get his head together before he makes a real decision.

Thread should be closed/deleted until TargA makes a real decision.

The thing is that the majority come back after a short period of time as if nothing has happened. They say they're retired and then keep showing up in qualifiers, hoping to make it into a big tournament to have a reason to come back. I mean at this point; I almost feel like "I'm retiring" is a way for a player to fool himself into playing without pressure for a while, rediscovering the passion for the game and then returning to being a pro.

If he really thinks he was playing that much better when practicing for just 1-2 hours a day, then maybe he should try reverting to that. Burnout is a real thing.
