These ten players have earned qualification for the ONLINE portion of the Global Tournament, where they will be split into two groups of five and play a round robin. The two group winners will advance to the LIVE round-of-eight portion of the tournament, where they will join the six finalists from WCS America, Europe, and Code S.
The online portion of the global tournament will be played on April 19th, while the live portion will be played on April 24-26.
Damn those are some sick sick names. Hack, Maru and Impact are the only three I don't really like from the 10 qualifiers. Gonna be a stacked tournament for suresies.

Noooo... We just dont get enough sc2 content nowadays.
Liquipedia lists NINE ongoing events in SC2. NINE. And those are just major events. It takes genuine effort to find a full day without some type of SC2 competition being streamed. How is that not enough content?
Stork almost got through and dang it Jaedong! Imagine Flash, Jaedong and Stork in this. I wish Mvp tried to qualify though and Life advanced. Still great lineup.
They should play at the stage and get streamed since these guys are fan favorites and it's round robin with only 2 advancing. It will be crazy! I wish the WCS points were higher.
Go Flash! I hope he gets put in the same bracket as Maru, Dongraegu/RoRo, Parting and Fantasy(he might not get out of the other group to play Flash) and show how good he is!

So weird how Jaedong clearly won the TBLS wars of 2013, but is now probably the worst of the remaining 3. It's like his fire died out with that ASUS ROG win, while simultaneously (re)igniting Flash & Stork. Would've been amazing to see all 3 of them return to form, getting into this tournament on their own merit.
i was expected that this tournament will be with the best of the best.. like 6 top 2 players from all region and other 10 best players... but well.. the prize pool is not that great, somehow i think WCS season 1 finale will be much better than this tournament, other than that congratz to all qualified players. good to see flash and maru there.

yea getting to be same old same old at this point. Kind of odd Mvp didn't play his games. Is he not in Korea or something?
Wasn't Mvp living in the GEM house in Germany?
He was there for WCS EU but idk if he left afterwards or not. If he's still there it would make sense to not play since the qualifiers were on the KR server
Impaaaaact. Really stoked to see him get through, especially beating players like MarineKing, Seed and Sora. But man DRG's bracket was so empty, surprised more people didn't sign up.

Can't wait for this event as well!
Well I think it didn't necessarily reignite Flash. Flash has always been an above average Korean Terran, but he's been both hot and cold as of late and basically his own teammate in TY is out-doing him in regards to Proleague. If anything I think it reignited Stork more than anyone else.

Sick names overall. This lineup plus Polt, Bomber, San and MMA?
Sounds like a sick tournament.
San and MMA are on the same ends of the Quarter-finals, only one of them can go to this tournament, one of them will be eliminated by one other in the Semi-finals, or in the Quarter-finals by their opponents
Nice! I had hoped for some Koreans that mainly played overseas though like JD or MMA. But flash makes up for everything, this and code a should produce some really sick games!

MMA can still qualify if he makes the finals of WCS Europe. In fact he'll be seeded into round 2 and not have to go through these groups of death.

Maybe he would've if he didn't switch from toss to terran before MSC :p. jk, but so sad that he isn't being more active. He was my favorite to watch stream.

Except there won't be a WCS season 1 finale... Only Blizzcon this year so that is why GOM is hosting these cross regional tournament
Where did DRG come from all of the sudden. I am happy for him, but I am also really surprised. Maybe he finally switched to Swarm Host style.. relying on lings and mutas for so long didn't help him, hard to win when not using only balanced Zerg tactic (but boring).
It seems weird to me that they're doing these games online and not in their studio. Flash, Fantasy and others should be able to bring an audience, and afaik all of those who managed to qualify lives in Korea (if there were players living abroad, I could've understand that they wanted to save costs...)
Anyway, Squirtle making it through his qualifier made me happy as a child! :D
Considering how hack totally owned his group and is probably #1 terran right now, you should probably sign up to his fanclub while its still sorta hipster. i'm debating whether or not i'm going to add people when the bandwagoners start coming around
The format for this tournament is pretty lame to be honest. So basically after the qualifier, there is an 10 man, 2 group play, that feeds into a 8 player tournament... This has more of a Blizzard Cup feeling rather than a "Global" tournament. I guess I was hoping for a GSL Super Tournament format where you take 64 players and just have one giant bracket and play it through.
Seeing how WCS has split up the best Koreans into 3 different regions, a Super Tournament type format with all of them in one tournament again would have been really cool.

You can think of the qualifiers that early rounds of the a super tournament. I don't think there's a lot of time for them to do this between the end of wcs season 1 and 2, thats why it's so short.
they should do this after every season. this is gonna be something worth watching to make up for all the starcraft we dont get to see from korea these days.

The Protoss are in the minority! Glad to see Maru go through - seems he didn't have a very tough bracket, though. Also, so pleased we can display our Green Wings fandom now.
the Flash hype is pretty funny. he had an easy group and he's a pretty good player so he made it through. but don't kid yourselves, there's no way he'll make it out of his group in the ro10.
great to see DRG and Maru and a few of the others though
i think it's kind of dumb they did the whole qualifier on the Korean server at Korean times though, it's not exactly fair to foreign players trying to qualify. it's not like the Koreans need help to beat the evil foreigners that take all their money.

DRG usually wins all games where he can get up to lair and build a spire though

Well yeah, they don't exactly have time to put on a Super Tournament between the tight WCS schedule. Not to mention the coordination that would have to go in organizing this with respect to having more players from the other regions joining in. I think round-robin into gsl format groups with several elite players is awesome myself. There's very little room to bash a player for having a lucky run with this format as there might be with a Super Tournament. Not to mention, we still get a lot of games and a healthy number of the different matchups.

I'm wondering if this will be considered a gsl championship by GOM. It really should be considering Mvp, MMA, and Life got some of their pins from events like these.
Dang there were some upsets in these brackets when you look at them! I would have loved to see some of these series! Anyone know where I can see the vods if there are any?
