The more people they can get to believe in Bitcoin, the more value it has. If you have 100 coins, and can convince 50,000 people that they are worth money, they may increase demand, making your coins increase in value, and it's worth your time. So, makes perfect sense to me. More advertising, more chances at evangalizing, and hopefully Axiom gets something good out of it.

Also, for those responding with comments that bitcoin value is volatile etc etc.. if you look at the full picture, it's value year over year has always been in an upward trend. Not that anyone at Axiom is solely betting on this as some sort of long-term investment, but rather it's a sponsorship, and all they really need is support which is exactly what they are getting!

Still, grats, and let's see what they can bring to the table. What do you mean? They are obviously giving financial support. What does "let's see what they can bring to the table" mean? They'll bring money, like sponsors in most sports.

I'm just a non believer. I have friends who are believers. I just notice that it has a lot to do with faith and evangalizing to increase value. Not anything else. Power perceived is power achieved, and all that. It's nice that you truly believe in it's value. Your belief helps add to it! There's certainly room for more believers and more value too. I just looked at it, and choose to step aside, ignoring all possible gains and losses. I'd rather not be involved in something that is only valuable if everyone involved it in is a good salesman.

Still, I'm very excited for TB and the rest of the team! You mean in the ONE month? Bitcoin basically went from 1k/coin to 400/coin in couple week, even its biggest bitcoin market exchange crashed and went out of business. Its value is around 400-450/coin with no centralized market right now. At least that was the last time I heard and cared about bitcoin.

Can we start handing out punishments for people that accuse sponsors of illegal activity? This defamatory nonsense helps nobody.

This defamatory nonsense helps nobody. well it is not recognized as currency in some countries, which is the closest to illegality you can get for something that claims to be a currency. It's more speculative than wall street too. I'm sure a bunch of the biggest esports sponsor have illegal activities too, mainly tax dodging so it's not a precedent either...
