The Challenger League qualifiers for WCS America Season 2 are underway with sixteen spots up for grabs. The qualifiers for Oceania/South East Asia and China have already concluded to confirm Challenger League spots for four players.
Twelve Challenger League spots remain up for grabs: 8 from the American qualifier, 2 from the Taiwan/Hong Kong/Macau qualifier, and 3 from the Ladder Wildcard (open to all regions) qualifier.
The sixteen players from the Challenger League qualifiers will face off against the bottom sixteen players eliminated from the Season 1 Premier League in a series of best of fives. The winners will qualify for the Season 2 Premier League, while the losers will be forced to start over in the qualifiers.
WCS America Season 2 Challenger League Players
From Premier League*
Has, HerO, desRow, Top, Minigun
MajOr, Illusion, MaSa, TheStC, aLive, SeleCT NesTea, Scarlett, Sen, Jaedong
From Challenger Qualifiers
Jim, Courage, iaguz, KingKong
* ByuL forfeited his WCS America Challenger spot to switch to the Korean region for Season 2. He advanced from the Korean qualifier and will play in GSL Season 2 Code A. His spot will be filled from the Ladder Wildcard qualifier.

Very happy to see Jim back in WCS America. His bad luck coming up against Bomber last time (though admittedly he didn't look that great in those games).

Some really strong players dropped down from Premier this season, I bet all the upcoming Challengers will be keeping their fingers crossed to draw Masa or Minigun instead of Jaedong or aLive.

I'm sorry but this post is not informative at all and gives no story about these qualifiers who worked hard to qualify for this tournament.

I hope China gets its own WCS someday. There seem to be many good Chinese players. It's too bad there are so few spots for them.

It would be nice if the schedule for the upcoming season would be released in its entirety before the season actually starts. It seems really difficult to know when the qualifiers/challenger league/premier league will be running until the week before. If Blizzard wants WCS to be a legitimate professional league I feel like a schedule would help out their case. I know dates change in the esports world, but having something to go by would be nice even if changes do end up being made.
I am a big fan of watching the challengers where the up-and-comers and diehards play for their chance to breakthrough. It would be nice to plan ahead and know when these are coming up. Might help more players plan to make time to play too.

Challenger for S2 is so stacked already :O

There are like 200 people who play SC2 in China. I doubt Blizzard wants to invest in that.

iaguz hwaiting!
If he gets a zerg opponent I won't be surprised in the slightest to see him in premier league next season...

Iaguz with the SICK TvZ, which is basically the key to winning in SEA so makes sense . Poor Petraeus, so close and yet so far TT. Also kinda sad to see XY fail to make it through again but yay for more Chinese Zergs :D

Poor Petraeus, always so close but never there.

do sea even play anything other than z haha, just look at their brackets its like a sea of z. anyway nice to see another foreign terran shine through, probably make easier by having to prepare only 1 matchup. iaguz fighting!

Jiiiiiim! Yes

lol there's a player named HeathLedger

Great to see Jim back.
Courage is also a famous player in China, known as the King of Roaches. It is rumoured that if you chant his name while playing ZvZ, your Roaches get an automatic +2 attack boost Remember Toodming who elminated Scarlett with that 360 degree surround? He was chanting Courage's name like a madman

LOL "海绵宝宝" (spongebob), homura, heathledger. like their nicks

This is the country that gave us the nicknames Xigua (Watermelon), Cloudy, Toodming (PotatoMing), iAsonu (self-admitted gibberish), and whose greatest talent is called Jim. Other than Courage and Top, Chinese nicknames are just as wonky as their meta.

I really am surprised to see that courage advanced. I'll explain more when I cast this from replays in about 12 hours.

IAGUZ yessssss!!!
Nice job!

It's related to WCS America so might as well post it here for now (I used WCS NA because it's shorter to type but you get the gist). I think it counts pretty much as a confirmation. Not a huge surprise I guess.

Yeah that's my thought as well, looks like WCS AM S2 and onwards will be handled by ESL as well.

You are aware that the previous partner for WCS America quit mid season? Let that sink in when you think about how much extra work has been put in recently.

well, but so do the Koreans ,
INnoVation and Creator play textbook style, while Classic is really fancy and unpredictable
girly boy entitled himself King of Marine while man name MMA never fight straight.
Life plays YOLO game, and player so steady that got NesTea award was called SuperNova ╮(╯▽╰)╭
(hmm, maybe its too much for a Chinese to play word games in English :/)

You do pretty well with word games. Only one that didn't look right was Creator. You're thinking of the word "Creative". Creator is someone or something who makes things. Like they used to call Nestea "creator of the universe" when he was dominant.
Anyway, Korean nicknames are more ironic. The few Chinese nicknames we know about are are just strange.

I always value your knowledge of the Chinese scene since I'm pretty ignorant TT and I think I may have missed you mentioning it in the cast
