He comes back and will be on Prime's roster for Proleague round 2
MKP has become 4th progamer returned from LOL following SC, Puzzle, and Coca.
Prime coach, Gerard said, " we are so glad that Marineking has returned to SC2 at the worst period for us. Probably our bad result from round 1 made him enthusiastic. He is more enthusiastic than anyone, and with Byun, we will once again show the power of Prime terrans."
If MKP can regain his near invincibility in TvP he could do alot of damage in PvProleauge. Super glad he's back and I hope he trains his ass off to make it into Code S
So ByuN was on an epic journey to find and return MKP in time to save Prime's Proleague season. Makes sense.
I guess Prime's typical lineup is going to be MKP/ByuN/Creator/Jila with KassiA and DeParture making occasional appearances. I'm guessing we won't see much of TerrOr for a while.

Yeah that seems pretty likely. I actually liked what we were seeing out of KassiA in round 1. He looks like he could develop into a decent player and showed some solid skill and decision making. He could be the first decent zerg for Prime since BBoongBBoong

Can't say I would be against that now that AZUBU is pretty much gone

BBoongBBoongPrime certainly does have a nice ring to it.

anyway, good luck and have fun!
He was starting to use some mech play towards the end of WoL. he beat some good players but then he lost in some games like OSL vs DRG and in a Code S game against Symbol. I remember him actually playing pretty well with it in the Symbol game even though he lost.
Exciting! Welcome back, MarineKing! Hopefully, he'll perform well and inspire better overall results from the rest of the team too! I don't like these good ol' eSF teams dying.

unfortunately I feel like the odds of Mvp being played in proleague kind of went down with the recent acquisitions. Prime plays IM in week 2 of round 2 though

He was rescuering MarineKing from the Hell
So ByuN is Orpheus and Marineking is Eurydice? Does sc2 get their own greek write up thing like Dota got?

some brave sc2 writer will have to do it.
I guess it's a bad example though because the ending would result in MKP going back to LoL

SC and Puzzle has retired after their comeback, and it's been almost a year since coca came back.
The only player to successfully switch to league of legends is BeastyQT I think. I remember seeing him post on his facebook wall that he had won 10,000 USD from a tournament of some form.
MKP was top 20 GM the last few times he streamed I think. although a high GM rank doesn't mean that much, it shows that he's at least decent at the game.
still, since he's so stylistic (and thus fairly easy to counter) i don't have super high hopes. it's just good to have him back :D

They will undoubtedly be the worst team next season in proleague.
There are no reasons to say this as MVP has lost only NAKSEO and duckdeok (but he played very little in team leagues) so MVP is fine and has all players who were in all GSTL, IPTL and ATC finals.

Are you sure it was BeastyQT? I just checked his FB and there is nothing about winning any tourneys (in LoL) on it. Plus I thought he streamed a shit tonne of Starbow nowadays anyway.

From what I understood, not really. I'm not 100% familiar with their ladder system but he was stuck in their diamond league and there's one above it called challenger or something. I was told he was like a midmasters level equivalent in LoL

Challenger league is similar to GM in SC2 - only a limited number of people can get in to it. Diamond for LoL is equal to Masters for SC2.
Aside from that, I heard stories going around that his role on the LoL team he joined was "fill-in". In other words, he was always on the bench unless one of the mainstage 5 players of the 6 man team was sick. He was a "back up" player.
The affect this had on him? It must have made him feel inadequate to some extent that every time his team was competing, he was consistently on the bench. It must have made him feel like a failure in the eyes of his parents, so I think that's why he switched back to SC2.
Seriously speaking, I hope we see a new MarineKing, rather than the one that departed SC2. He was playing sooo greedy, that eveyone had him figured out.

Oh, that post was from a LONG time ago. like some time over Summer 2013, not long after he made the switch to LoL. He was always a strong online competitor for SC2, but at offline events, I think he had nerve issues...

The new Ghost and Mine buff should help MKP/Byun out a bit. But I feel like TY is at a league of his own in terms of T, followed by Maru (who trained with MKP/Byun).

oh and creator 5-1 life in recent times you know, on LAN too
There are 2 truth: 1) StarTale has more GSL players then MVP + Prime + KHAN together, only SKT has more players in GSL. 2) StarTale is ZeNEX with Curious.
Great news for Prime, I'm looking forward to seeing MKP again. Prime really needed a few Terrans in round 1. Proleague round 2 gonna be good, hype hype hype!
On ladder anyways (last month he was streaming SC2 a little bit), and his control was above other pros, it was amazing. Why the heck did he start losing last year(two years ago?) in tourneys after he was doing well?

Lost motivation, the reason he switched to LoL. I hope that I am wrong but I don't really see him coming back to the old shape.
RETURN OF THE KING!! I'm so glad ! Hopefully he, byun and creator can make something happen in PL even winning one team or getting close to it would be awesome! gogo MKP!!!!!!!!
Just in time to be recruited for my anti-team in FPL
In all seriousness though, it is awesome to have MKP back. Not my fav player, but damn if he isn't one of the most entertaining and SC2 just isn't the same without him.
I love mkp and byun and im really happy that mkp has left that crap what LoL is. But terrans have very hard time now and i.hope they wont find sc2 unenjoable again.
We all knew it would just be a matter of time until he returned. Glad it's happening. I missed watching him play. I hope he (and Byun) are able to help out Prime in Proleague!
Well I mentioned it, when he made the announcement to switch games. The qualities needed for LoL are not the same as for SC2. In LoL you can´t really define yourself with mechanics at high level, because everyone just plays close to the max there. You simply don´t see much differences in pure mechanics between pro players. The most important things in LoL are team coordination, knowledge of matchups and decision making/judgement of situations. Most of the game is decided by which team makes the smarter decisions in their rotations, what objectives they take and when they take them and team compositions. While switching SC2 pros might be able to match the mechanics of the top players in a very short amount of time, the other important things still take a lot of time and effort to learn. And if we are honest: Marineking was never known for his smart decision making and judgement of ingame situations. SC2 is way better suited for him, where he can mechanically outplay his opponents, so he is fine with having rather mediocre decision making. So this might be the best for him to stay in esports.
Don't know why people keep leaving for that shit game, but I'm glad they keep coming back.
Welcome back MarineKing and Byun! Hopefully they can shake off the rust and be at top form quickly. I haven't heard much about SC, Coca and Puzzle since they came back, so it would be interesting to see if MKP and Byun are able to get some decent tournament results despite their little vacation.

Well, if it counts for anything, Marineking has been playing pretty well on the ladder. He was ranked pretty decently last I checked.
Is it really any surprise that they came back from LoL? Going from a 1v1 game to a team game must be very frustrating. Relying on others to get results isn't comfortable for most individual sports people.Glad to see MKP back where he belongs and I hope he can put up the results we all hope for him.
On February 14 2014 03:13 baeric wrote: Mhhh LoL isn't that easy apparently
It is that easy but you also have to rely on others to get a win. In starcraft, its just you and your opponent. That is a difference which matters to many.
I've never been a fan of MKP since he decided to forgo his true name (Foxer) for the silliness that is MarineKing, but it's great that he is back and I hope he'll help Prime to compete more on the same level as the other PL teams. Good news

All games are hard at the highest level. Throwing a ball through a hoop is pretty easy, but if you compare the hoop to a soccer net, basket ball looks like the harder sport. But at the end of the day we know that isn't true.
Dope. Glad to see prime with a roster improvement, however slight it may be. It is sad to see prime wallowing at the bottom, I hope they can make a come back this season.
I hate pro-players that PR-ing themselfs and doing such big news from nothing. First Marineking retired to LOL, now he returns. Whats epic here? I see nothing special here.
It was better to write something like "Marineking have won the X tournament and he returns to StarCraft 2!" That may look a lot more epic, than these boring news "Retired - returned - retired - returned... "

This is a Starcraft forum, we are Starcraft fans. A retired championship caliber player who was one of the best of his time is returning to play again? That's big news to most people, especially considering the amount of retirements lately.

Especially in Korea you will get your poo pushed in even when trying to break into the semi-pro scene, let alone any professional televised matches.
