For me any invite is bad coz I can not root against players who had to beat 8-10 korean pros to qualify for the event and some just got free invites the thing si that to qualify is harder then to win so you whether invite all or force to qualify all. And Jaedong challenges Flash... Ofc Jaedong will have 10 times better results coz he plays in the weak region and gets free invites everywhere.

It should be clarified, that the invites generally come from the best players who apply for the open bracket. And simply nobody really applied for the open bracket in Brazil, because paying flights there is really expensive, loads of people/attention was all at ASUS ROG and also visa issues.
Former ESL League Operations. I ran IEM/WCS for like 3 years or something. I did map vetos on a tablet. That guy.

What's up with elfi? This seems like a weird reason.

I don't understand the logic behind the invite spots. Is it based on skill? But Hero is invited, so it cant be just that. Then what, popularity? If so, why not invite European players for the European tournament? The massive Korean dominance is so stupidly bad for the health of Sc2. More than SHs and gameplay-issues, the (nearly) Korean-only tournaments are what kills off interest in the game outside of the diehard TL crowd.

IEM, please adapt.

Why invite the same people over and over again while we have loads of equally skilled or better players like Taeyang, herO, soO or even Flash/Fantasy. I imagine their popularity will easily soar after only one foreign tourney or two.

like someone said before, the likes of JD or HerO get all the luxuries. easy opponent, easy points, easy money, easy invitation to everything

Lads what's all this cancellation because "my results haven't been good enough" Elfi? Men up players! Only way to get better ones is to compete!

Fantasy or TY at a German event would make me cream my pants! Im happy with Inno and Polt though
To all the haters: you deserve to witness many, many more Serral victories, worthy of the godlike player he is.

It is likely based on WCS 2013 points. Innovation (2) , JD (3), HerO (5), Dear (6). Polt was 4th but already in qualifiers and I guess Soulkey (1) didn't sign up for the open bracket.

Now that WCS has a partial region lock, maybe we should start thinking applying it to WCS Global Events too.

50% of the invites in ASUS ROG were Korean. Four foreigners cancelled after the roster was released.
44% of the Open Bracket invites in IEM8 Cologne are Korean. Three foreigners cancelled after the roster was released.

Both tournaments invite based on applications so of course it also depends on who applies for a spot. The cancellations don't necessarily correlate with the number of Koreans, but it's something to keep an eye on in other events this year.

So many brutally strong protoss players. It will probably come down to San, Dear or Rain, with Classic as the dark horse.

I don't think you can call Classic a dark horse. One of the most consistent Toss players in proleague...

Guys there's an explanation of how the invite system works on this very page. Stop asking about it.
