Awesome to see Grubby getting another shot at Premiere, he is such a great personality it can only help the EU scene to have him involved.
Also great to see Strelok back, I was worried about him after he had that great run in 2013 S1 and then seemingly vanished as soon as his beloved Hellbats were nerfed.
If jjakji makes it into Premiere, I think he instantly becomes the favorite to win the title. Sorry MC, MMA and Mvp.
Sad to see DIMAGA and TitaN just barely falling short though.

Grubby played great decider game vs jjakji, deserved his spot

Wonder how many times the WCS format will changed until it's finalized

Grubby leading the charge makes me proud to be Dutch! =) Interesting to see that no Zergs made it, I guess EU only has Nerchio, Snute and TLO to do the zerg work? Doesn't matter, go Protoss!
|
Can someone explain how can jjakji play in EU qualifier? Wasn't this region locked or smth?
|
|
|
Yeah! Grubby and jjajki! Boo yeah!!

Yeah I think he's living in Switzerland? Is that right?

I dont exactly know the visa details and everything, but he is considered a resident of Europe

Vortix and Targa, who are already in Premier, might disagree

Had no idea Jjakji got a real freaking visa, nicely done by their PR guy at MYI reporting this
No surprise to see him advancing but nonetheless going to be very fun to see him play!
|
Well done Grubby, jjakji and the others ! We'll see who will qualify next !

Yup, if you look at the bracket on the ESL site, jjakji is shown with a Swiss (not Korean) flag.

That's indeed because on ESL flags are shown by residency, not nationality. (yes, ESL admins can easily check nationality by IP address so no worries about that)

I had fun watching Strelok fight his way through the bracket, beating a bunch of Protosses with mech. I'm curious to see if he can do better in challenger with the recent buffs.

TL police is best police don't worry. ESL don't even need to move an inch, each time we will see a name that isn't from our land we will FIND YOU AND WE WILL HUNT YOU.

You find him first and then you hunt him?

jjakjiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii :D
Impressive by Grubby, taking out jjakji PvT is no small feat! Any good games?
Also glad elfi made it through. Hopefully Babyknight can make it next qualifier!

good to see Grubby and ex NSH jjakji doing well

Where are the IM big guns?

Would i love to have more zerg but there was not really "good" participants. Would have love Dimaga to qualify though. Surprise about Snute too. Not really a fan but i thought he would qualify.
Cheers for the winners !

I wonder who else will show up in the wildcard quals that we don't know about yet

It's semi-region locked, I can't remember the details but there's a quota as opposed to the blanket rule of 'open to anyone' last year. Also looking at all the notable drop-out from the RO512 it seems that jjakji is the only Korean of note actually attending the qualifiers.

Go Grubby! WCS 2014 Europe Champion!
|
Grubby!
2014 the year of Grubby

2014 Year of Grruubeeey ^^

Saw Grubby made it, became instantly happy. He's the one player that I will always root for, no matter who else in the tournament!

The player handbook states you must be a citizen or legal resident, and all non-citizens must get approval from the esports team at Blizzard by emailing them, so I would assume they did that, and jjakji is considered a legal resident.

As the OP linked, if you are confused how the qualifiers work, read this: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=436104
Short version is that this qualifier is ONLY for EU residents. No Korean residents may attend. The reason jjakji can is because he has actually physically moved to be a full-time legal resident of Switzerland, same way Polt now resides in the US, etc.
All non-EU residents can still try for EU Challenger, but they have to go through the "Wildcard Qualifiers" which give much fewer spots than the qualifiers for residents and have not occurred yet. So we'll presumably see YoDa, First, etc, trying out in those qualifiers.

Really like Jjakji getting into the eu scene he will raise the skill and competition but actually helps eu grow by playing on our ladder and cups so our players grow with him

Love everyone who made it through. Good to see the old men representing!

Big congrats to all those that qualified, solid performance of Hasu and Grubby as far as I could see from the casts. It was fun to see Ourk putting pressure on BabyKnight and Complain giving Grubby some hard time! Looking forward to exiting matches today as well!

*G* Maybe, but literally NOONE complained about Terran...
SC2 is full of balance-whining...

It's mainly because Blizzard always steps in when enough people cry for sc2 and "balance" the game, where as in Brood War one's only hope was Kespa adjusting the maps.
