People seem to think that there are no storylines unless the same player wins multiple times. That's not the case, and I can think of several for this tournament that specifically involve players not winning.
-Will Jaedong shake off his tendency to choke or will he remain without a major gold in Starcraft II? -Will Innovation continue to disappoint (relative to his mid-2013 domincnace) or has he fixed the flaws in his play? -CAN SOS WIN DH TO LAUGH IN PARTINGS FACE? -Will Naniwa continue to make a case for being the best foreigner (OF ALL TIME) with the home field advantage? -Can Sjow do something equally insane this time around? -Can ForGG finally come through with a big win to show everyone that Polt isn't the only guy who can remain top-tier in a foreign country? -Which of the result twins (MMA and Life) will make the deeper run? -Will JYP win a game?
One can only bear Jaedong losing in the finals so many times. At the end of the days, big stories are: "Who won?" and "Did a foreigner make a deep run?". So if the winner has no story behind his win like previous wins, overcoming a slump, bloody spectacular play, then the turn-out is quite meh. Well, speaking for myself of course. I love positive stories like that of duckdeock or Jaedong finally winning and exloding emotionally, Naniwa standing tall against Korean dominance, TLO being creative (tm), sOs/Innovation/Taeja/Life showing brilliant play and hardly giving a fuck. But people failing to deliver be it HerO, Jaedong, Innovation, I can live without that.
If only there was a HerO vs Jaedong final, everybody would win.

I think we were all proven wrong with that JYP comment when he was at the top of his group halfway through group stages. My jaw literally dropped when I saw the results. I thought there was a typo in Liquipedia. Not trying to bash him or anything, but wow, go JYP, good for you!

INnoVation's like that underaged girl at any party every who gets a little bit of booze and can't handle it. He's really good when no one's watching, but like all the proclaimed "Best Players!" that SC2 loves to crown he faded just as quickly as he came. sOs doesn't need hype he's the Undisputed WCS Champion of The World, and MMA's MMA.
However...
HerO has more consistency than INnoVation + HerO can actually beat Taeja. sOs is the current hot topic because of how recent WCS was, however even if sOs is "the Most creative Toss", he's the second Protoss to wear that Mantle in recent years, the first being HerO, and MMA's always a solid choice, but I think HerO's much more solid.
If you want to say someone's the best you have to look at them over all. HerO has stunning performances across the board, great macro and micro and always packs championship level performances. He actually can be called the best because he has consistency.
