He will play in DH Winter so SOulKey got his WCG group

So I'm curious, how come this Dreamhack different from the ones a few months back where there were like upwards of almost 60+ players? Are each Dreamhacks different from another, or did they recently reduce the number of invites and people who qualified to participate in this and upcoming Dreamhacks?
Also Group C, wow Terran galore. gl Innovation with the TvTs

I am not a native speaker, but it seems correct to me. A "consolation final" is the match for 3rd or 4th position, whereas here the contestants in the "consolidation final" still have a chance to win the thing.

This is Dreamhack Winter.
Did WCS Global finals(Blizzcon) have all premium league players that there is?
No, there is no invites in this tournament. All players quolified though other DH events except Welmu, Patience, Polt and ForGG came from open online qualifiers. (http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/2013_DreamHack_Open/Winter/Online_Qualifiers)

no
but you can pretend it means they're "consolidating" all the losers into one
Feel bad for HerO He's never fared well against Leenock, and Jaedong has shown that JvP is a thing of the past. Top that with the fact Welmu is extremely strong in pvp and HerO's glaring weakness in the matchup and I can see him starting in the Loser's bracket

Actually, it makes more sense that Consolation. Consolation seems more like it should be a 3rd/4th place match with no chance of winning the tournament.
On November 19 2013 01:42 jackslater wrote: Why so few players?
only the top 4 players from each dreamhack this year got an invite to this tournament. plus the ones who advance from the online qualfier.
you can read it in the OP: *Qualified through the online qualifiers. All other players are seeded from their performances in earlier Dreamhack Open tournaments.

I agree except for Patience who I think will get a better place than TLO or LucifroN.
Just realized that the group B is fucking stacked as well.
Korean factor aside, I've seen a couple of Korean Protosses do well in online qualifiers (e.g. Sora and MyungSiK) who haven't really proven themselves in a foreign tournament. Patience definitely isn't a guaranteed last place finisher, but I'm more convinced in the capability of TLO or LucifroN.

Welmu will be at least third in his group... wtf are you talking about? The best foreign protoss welmu!
Only Jaedong is sure to win over Welmu. Leenock vs Welmu 60/40, Goswer...lol?, And HerO..hey it's welmu and pvp.. Im pretty sure Welmu wins HerO. Even in Online quals welmu won Oz and herO

Oh of course but other than that, TLO's performance at HSC wasn't that great (though he's kinda inconsistent like pretty much all the foreigners so he can play very well at DH). I hope LucifroN will do well anyway !
Double Elimination... so much more fun to watch, esp. for a kinda grand-final :>...good lineup btw..but how got Goswser seeded? (No offense, looks like I missed a top DH-finish?)

How is group C even possible? Aren't Taeja/Innovation/sOs tier A players and eg. group A contains zero players of that level. edit: nvm I guess they seed by previous dreamhack results or something, lol.

I guess they seeded like this : Tier 1 : DH Winners Tier 2 : DH runner-ups Tier 3-4 : DH RO4 Tier 5 : Qualified online

You're welcome to n.Die in advance because I'm not going to be in any LR threads for that weekend. You really think I'd miss an oppurtunity to watch Life live in fucking Sweden? No way, no how

I guess you're right: HyuN / TaeJa : top1. Naniwa / Inno : top2. Lucifron+TLO / SjoW+sOs : top4 (or seeded in case there was already qualified player in top4). Patience / ForGG : qualified.

Group C will be the ultimate test of Innovation's TvT... I have a feeling he will drop out early yet again... Poor Inno can't catch a break, he is much better than his recent results show..
Would really like to see Taeja win this, always get nervous when watching him TvT though as I think it's his weakest match up? He's beat some awesome terrans already this year (That 2-1 V Inno was epic) but with ForGG who's a renowned TvT specialist and Innovation with Sjow looking to win on home soil, Could be an upset coming? Hope he gets some good TvT practice in this week! GL Taeja and all TL participants!

TaeJa is 7-2 vs Inno, 0-4 vs ForGG, 2-1 vs SjoW and 3-2 vs sOs in HotS.

Besides, the player from the winner's bracket almost always wins a double elimination tournament. The biggest difference between it and single elimination is there's more games.
lol, i see the post saying format announced, and had the stupid idea that someone might try something fairer than groups into bracket. i should stop doing that

He can get fourth and still advance to loser bracket. That shouldn't be too hard
Since MLG dropped SC2 it's been so long since I've seen a double elimination bracket, really looking forward to this. Swiss/dual tournament is a cool system and all, but so much WCS has kind of destroyed the novelty.
The not-fun fact is that apparently, TvT has become ForGG's worst match-up recently. Some guys on Millenium say that he's only around 50% in TvT on ladder while being around 70% in the other matchups.
Gogogo Lucifron! You can definately beat TLO and Hyun, and hopefully you've improved your TvP enough to beat Naniwa and Patience. Too much 'Fron for them!

By performing well

Man Group C is so stacked. It has 3 players easily in the top 10 overall right now out of a group of 5. It has 3 of the 5 favorites for the whole thing along with JD and Life.

PvT is sOs' proclaimed worst match-up, yet as far as I know he is undefeated against Taeja and Bomber This tournament may be even more fun than Blizzcon

Good for him, he's really been out of the spotlight recently
Don't doubt Inno's TvT. After watching him vs. Hack in the GSTL (after Blizzcon), it's quite obvious that he has been working on it. I wouldn't be surprised at all if he sweeps his group. I also think that sOs will not be as dominant. If any terran in the group is smart, they will know of his style and adjust accordingly, like building ghosts to crush that zealot archon early combo. sOs has yet to prove his dominance over a period of time. He fell off the radar after WCS Season 1. I won't be surprised if he disappears again.

nope, Taeja beat sOs 2-0 last they played in DH Bucharest
Sick lineup! I just wish it was not another tournament filled with the same old boring Derelict Watcher, Bel'Shir Vistage, Whirlwind, Polar Night bullshit map pool. Sick of seeing those maps...

Taeja only played him once and that was in WCS KR season 1 when Taeja was already forced to go to WCS AM next season. Pretty small sample size to be honest. And I am pretty sure it was a 2-1.
