Twenty-four year old Chinese Zerg pro-gamer Shen "Comm" Hui today officially announced his retirement on his social network, after losing to XiGua at WCG China Finals last weekend.
The status reads: "Heading to Shanghai the last time as a pro on 20th, if you want to hang out leave me a message. Sorry for all your support. I promised to leave with a championship title but it was too much a blow for me. I've lost my soul to fight on the battleground, sorry all!"
Comm is known for his aggressive play style and unorthodox strategies, his biggest achievement was winning WCS 2012 China Nationals and participating in 2012 Battle.Net World Championship.
Besides Comm retiring, his team, Vici Gaming, is also undergoing a change in its RTS division as Comm's former teammate in Wayi Spider, Zhang "Ash" Jin Yue also retired into manager role of VG's League of Legends squad, leaving only Infi and Ted on its RTS squad, according to General Manager of Vici Gaming Lu "HunteR" Wen Jun.
Goodbye Comm, you will forever be remembered in the Chinese scene as one of the giants that once dominated... just like F91 once did in BW, and Sen in the tw/kr scene in WOL/BW.
Man i was really angry when MLG just disqualified Comm for using his friend account when he won the qualifier for Season 1 Premier league. Imagine how much his programmer career could have change if he was at the Season 1 premier for America.
The rein of Comm ends time for Jim and Macsed to rise.

Never forget what MLG's admins did to him in the WCS America Season 1 Premier League qualifiers.
Considering this, I don't blame him for retiring. That could have been his one big shot to break WCS and make a name for himself and instead he got crapped on.
saw this earlier this morning, just too bad Comm played some of the best games against Koreans in early 2012, when he completely owned Tails 4:0 with his very unique 12 pool macro and hyra-muta switch. as a Chinese, Comm is simply one of my favorite players, I've been using his strat and style for really long time, his innovative and aggressive way of playing really enlightened me, not to mention he happen to be really handsome and easygoing.

I couldn't agree more. Comm cited that one of the reasons why he might be retiring in the near future is the lack of offline events in China started and funded domestically by Chinese companies (IEM was funded by ESL, a foreign group).

He means sorry to say that he failed everyone who did support him. It doesn't quite directly translate.

He's getting out of eSports completely. Before, he has vocalized that his mother didn't know what to tell her friends what her son (Comm) did for a living.

No it's not about his (ex) girlfriend casting LoL or anything else, she was casting sc2 at WCG China Finals last weekend too. No need to drag his personal life into this discussion, thanks.

Is it Miss?
Yes, Miss cheated on Comm. It all started because you asked Miss out openly on social media. I think someone need to apologize as well.

Miss is NOT Comm's girlfriend stop feeding false information.

No, he's trolling me because he hates me on a personal level. I can't change that no matter how hard I try.

Well, you don't need to try at all. It's not your problem, Mr I-Know-Chinese.
Comm is one of the comedian in the chinese pro scene, I hope it's just a decision of impulse. Maybe he will be back. Maybe.
lol we should make a list of all the team cut downs and retiring players from the past 2 months and spam email it to blizzard. Maybe they'll get off their ass and show they care about their game.

I agree with you, whole heartedly, bro.
But there is a difference between asking someone out publicly on social media and cracking a joke where everyone can see it.
Did you really think that Miss would consider some amateur caster that couldn't make a living from it and couldn't convince ESL to send him to IEM Shanghai even with the fact that his plane ticket would be cheaper than the usual casting crew (ToD, Apollo, etc.)? Gimme a break. Life is short, live to make people laugh.
The main reason his soul soul is crushed is that his girlfriend who is a league of legends caster cheated on him and hooked up another pro player who play cross-fire( an first person shooting game). His girl friend were introduced by him to the esports community. Ever since they begin to date, comm never get another champion. Their relationship greatly decrease comm's ability to win games. Therefore, because of this mean girl, comm have to retire, leave esports and leave his fucked-up life!
btw his girl friend is not miss stop being misleader by malicous comments! comm is a nice guy he wants her girlfriend to have a better life. But his grilfriend is a whore who would hooked up with any pro-player in the certain game that she was casting. She has casted cross-fire, league of legends and sc2. Comm was on her sc2 branch. So, she hooked up another two guys. Comm is really mad at her, being frustrated, he decided to quit gaming!
I bet that girl is a spy sent from riot to crush sc2 China scene and then giving more attention and awareness of another game (cross fire) which has less chance to threaten league dominance in China.
this is the truth. Comm's girlfriend, a LOL caster, has another relationship with another pro gamer behind Comm. Due to comm's help, that girl can find a LoL casting job in Neotv. So Comm couldn't bear this and broke up with that girl. and then comm announce retirement..
I dunno whence you came man, but like 2 months ago you just decided to be THE translator (KR/CN/ENG) and expert on chinese scene for us foreigners, you're the man.
I find it odd that the more reasonable explanation to comm's retirement is this whole girlfriend cheating debacle (rather than him merely "losing his spirit"). I'd attribute it to the wcs disqualification and then when he really needed her the most his gf pulling that bs on him. Shitty situation to be in for sure.
I remember being absolutely crushed by him in that MLG/WCS qualifier run where he was disqualified. I wasn't even mad about the whole situation, actually, I wanted him to be allowed in. I don't think I've ever been so man handled by mutas before..
