It's ok, but i was hoping for mr bitter

It's sad that the foreign scene has turned into a personality contest.
|
yeah, nathanias at another big event, nice to see!
and yeah, RedEye at a non wcs tournament, good good.

|
So WCS EU + Nathanias? Sounds good, the Nathanias + Apollo combo worked really well at Dreamhack.

Cool line-up. For cool line-up.

give us idra in stead of tod!

I too look forward to seeing IdrA's next casting job.

Wow, I love that line-up! This IEM is going better and better...
|
Solid line up - glad to see Nate get more big events.
Could someone refresh my memory as to what InFeZa has observed before?

thought day9 was casting a few things lately. Oh well ESL pays people, so better not expect they use different ones they would have to pay as well.

Just guessing, but they couldnt bring the NASL guys over because the ro16 of WCS AM starts the day after IEM.
Love the casting lineup, Nathanias+Apollo and Kaelaris+ToD are great casting dous.

a Regular one, glad that RedEye there as well

Really really cool line up always great having Nathanias cast these greater events now, he always hypes me up while still being informative; obv the rest is amazing.

But really. I'm excited. Still hoping that I can get a ticket for it + a trip there before I'm unable to.. It's the first tournament relatively close to me that I could attend.

while i really like the WCS EU Crew, i wouldve hoped for Bitterdam and Axeltoss+Axslav to cast. Poor guys have so little events to do and yet seem to be so eager to work - especially the MLG combo :/

I actually like Axslav...
But anyways, Nathanias is a boss caster with an equally boss beard. And I do loves me some Apollo and Kaelaris though... <3

Honestly I can't help but disagree, I have thoroughly enjoyed the few times I've seen Idra commentate. I don't feel as though his publicized personality is reflected, just his in-depth knowledge of the game.

Kaelaris? :/
Im getting a bit tired of apollo casting every single tournament as well, even though hes a very good caster. I guess people in general like Kaelaris more than me, all I hear out of his mouth is either truisms or false information but I guess thats just me.
Nathanias and ToD I like. Hope this tourny goes well for foreigners!

That's not just you...

Would have loved to see BitterDam doing the casting. Sure its a IEM event but still, Apollo is a bit too much all over the place with WCS and DH.

It's true that Apollo is casting every tournament, personnally I don't like him that much :/

You can be sure that Axslav+Axeltoss will cast on MLG stream. They already casted the qualifier and the last IEM event

Maybe our fellow netizen feels that casters and crew gets more attention than needed, that we could do without announcements like these and just focus on the games and the ones who are playing them.

Nathanias and ToD I like. Hope this tourny goes well for foreigners! I don't like Kaelaris either. Not at all. Especially not when he "analyses" a match or says obvious things. I don't even think he is funny or anything else that would make a caster entertaining... but that's my opinion...

kinda disappointed to be honest. no bitterdam or khaldor. day9 needs to appear again too as husky has to cast live again!

Not too surprising, but I wish ESL coulda gotten both Grubby and Tod =(. Guess I'll have to cross my fingers for HsC.

As long as Apollo is there it'll be good. Would love to see Khaldor+Idra casting though. I'm not even Idra's fan, never was, but their casting during Asus ROG was amazing.

I'm glad to see Nathanias at another event, I really enjoyed his casting at Dreamhack, especially the Stardust vs Jaedong finals.

Disappointed - this one's my chance to attend in person and was hoping for some older/bigger names, esp. from the West Coast of U.S (Day9, Husky...). But I guess "WCS EU" (as someone else put it) is still nice. ("No, thanks" to the Idra suggestions....)

If foreign players are good enough, we wouldn't see a thread of caster and personality popping up for every tournament. Example: Bomber wins season 2 final, he gets one thread on reddit while Artosis gets 5 threads about his wrong prediction about Bomber. Innovation wins season 1 final, he gets 1 thread while Artosis gets 5 threads. Threads like these give people a thought that you could stay relevant in the sc2 scene by not winning a single sc2 game. It's thread like this that directs attention from foreign pros to foreign personality. I don't know of any other type of competition in which a group of casters/personalities is more important than the players and the competition. This is the direct result of one scene trying to stay relevant. It's sad because when I think of foreign competition, I should think about foreign players, not foreign personality. The competition should be the center of attention, just like in any sport.

Having experienced stage performers who have legions of established fans really does a lot to make for a successful live event. I fully agree that people focus too much on the individuals who play the game, rather than the games themselves, but when it comes to practical execution of a complex hosting job, I agree with most event's decision to go with the tried-and-true hosts and casters.

It's decent... People shouldn't really complain, because this is IEM.... The premier event created by ESL. They should be allowed to hire their own staff to run their own premier tournaments...
At the same time, I don't think it's the best. DreamHack is always going to have an unfair advantage because they are a huge and massively respected event that is independently run, and so they have the whole world to pull talents from. IEM is part of ESL, so they have a team to work with and they have dedicated staff to make sure they respect and provide for.
Although I don't think this lineup is the best, I do think it's a solid lineup and will provide great entertainment. Looking forward to this!

Bomber wins season 2 final, so every major eSports media organization covers the story with official news. Artosis gets 5 random user threads about his wrong prediction about Bomber..
You're really going to complain about that? Open your eyes plz. Artosis making a wrong statement is a big inside joke to the whole community, so it's obvious that the community will laugh and chat about it. Bomber winning a WCS event is an important time in SC2 history, and thus everybody who covers media will want to provide a story about it.
There's a difference.......
It's important for the event's popularity to tell the world that they have world renowned personalities. They put together their official lineup and finalized contracts, so they provided that information in order to get the hype train running.
Later they'll announce the final player list, and people will go crazy for it (so they, and all of us, hope).
This is all common stuff here, stop trying to create drama.
|
Like the lineup a lot
Also the switcharoo to keep things interesting is appreciated, not always Arpollo(though they work great together of course) to give others also a chance.
|
Well, ESL does organize IEM, so it's no surprise that they would use the same crew.
|
<3 Glad to see Redeye.
Also <3 to Kaelaris.
Smix talks a bit too much herself during the interviews, but she's a good translator and we will have plenty of Koreans winning, as always.

Redeye and Nathanias! Really looking forward to this IEM

I used to like Kaelaris, but I personally don't like his current style. I don't mind a play-by-play caster like Husky, but I don't think he should be the one analyzing games (that's Apollo's forte). His enthusiasm is perfect for play-by-play and needs to remain that way. Even Tasteless, who is nowhere near Artosis's level, is more careful with his analysis by translating some of what is going for the more casual audience.

Doesn't beat the lineup from DH, but I like the WCS EU crew! Should be good.

I don't know of any other type of competition in which a group of casters/personalities is more important than the players and the competition.
Only kind of example that come to mind for me would be to some extent Michael Buffer for Boxing.

I agree somewhat, but I think if you look closely most of the casters got to where they are today through both talent and hard work. Well, the ones that aren't former pro players - and even then you can argue that took a lot of work to get to as well. The thing is, Nathanias has put in a lot of hard work recently, whereas the other guys put in a lot of hard work a couple years ago.
Also, am I the only one that thinks Nathanias sounds vaguely like Mr. Bitter while looking a bit more like Kevin Knocke?
+ Show Spoiler +Also, I'm sad we don't see Kevin Knocke cast more.
+ Show Spoiler +I'm not worried about the twin Axes of MLG. They have a nice office in a great city and lots of "water". They should be okay. Sundance will take good care of them, won't he?
