The cons in being a hardcore fan is that all the other matches becomes a lot less entertaining =(

You also need to add that, when you are a hardcore fan and your hero loses, it feels 1000000000x worst then when anyone else loses.

Which is why OSL 2013 never happened.

I know i'm not a big team liquid poster, so i feel (well i know) that the extent of my love is not known. I'm 16 years old, and i've watched every bomber game for over a year. i'm willing to stay up until 5AM on a school night just to see him play. He's the only reason i can do 1v1 ladder, and the reason i follow SC2. I jump up and down with every win, and almost cry with every defeat. If i could have 1 thing on this earth, it would be to just MEET him. He is honestly the best thing to ever happen in my life. <3 Bomber.
I feel the same way. However, I'm 21. Instead of school nights it's work nights. Instead of wishing I have met him, I did meet him in Seattle last year.
Bomber #1! :D

<3 Naniwa. I will follow him through his eSports career.

That picture on Naniwa is so boss. He just looks like a scary mofo that I wouldn't want to mess with, especially in the eyes..

Omg. :D Thank you! I almost had forgotten this one, until now. Best fan shoutout ever in SCBW/SC2. Die hard fans ftw.

No one asked me to write one about the injustice league or Yugioh? I feel so left out.
edit* I could have actually written one about a lot of different players now that I think about it.

Fandom, when it doesn't become creepy, is one of the best parts of the the sports and e-sports community. I follow the NA/EU sc2 scenes pretty religiously and I still remember the first SC2 cast I ever watched was IPL, I had always thought foreign SC scene had nearly died during bw but I decided to tune in, and I didn't know any of the players except Idra, but I do remember watching every game that Vibe played, and he got fourth in the tourney. I remember then that I started watching sc2 streams, and when Vibe started streaming I followed him immediately, actually he is the only twitch streamer I follow, and the only twitter account I've followed. Primarily I watched him because he was one of the few streamers who ALWAYS gave commentary on what he was doing and why, and I have always been mediocre at RTS (I hover between gold and plat as zerg) so I grew to really like listening to a pros thought process, and thought that this would help me improve (and it did, but I still suck mechanically, fucking zvz micro.)
There were some times during the last year in school that I would be super stressed out about exams or workloads, and when I get stressed I can't sleep or eat, so I used to simply play instrumental music to try to calm down and stuff, but then I started playing the vods of Vibe's streams just on my comp in the background. And both the SC2 sound effects and him talking through the game would distract me from other stresses in my life. A large part of it, hearing from interviews he's given, was also that he talked about how he dove into pursuing a pro career after WC3 and that his family have always supported his hobby/now career and I've always struggled with that with my family. I don't play video games nearly as much as any pro gamer or even many casual ones, but my parents (who also do play a lot of video games, surprisingly) have always told me I have a problem or that I'm wasting my life playing video games. Which has made me pretty depressed about the hobby I do to unwind. I always thought that I am in shape, I play sports and did very well in school/grad school. So I was always confused about that. Hell as of a week ago today my dad told me I need to admit that I have a problem playing video games and seek professional help.............. So I most definitely do agree with what the op says about fans/superfans who follow a particular player because of not only their play style but as an idealization of themselves.
Finally, I remember followed WCS USA in 2012 when Vibe was on a tear, and I watched all of his games on my ipod while I was at a college party. And when he won the whole tourney, and he finally had his validation as a pro gamer I was immensely happy for him. I remember knocking over my friends beer, and jumping out of my chair yelling that Vibe had just won WCS! My friends, none of whom follow e-sports, where a little flabbergasted, to the point that my friend who was dumping gasoline on the fire proceeded to hold it over the fire too long and set the gas tank on fire. The backyard of my friends house ended up turning black after that.
Sorry for long post, but I thought this would be the appropriate thread to tell my shorter story. Though i personally don't count myself as a superfan.

I was waiting for the Bomber section written by Wintex . Great read. I'd write one for HerO or SeleCT. I could mention the time I punched a brick wall when he lost to Targa at Dreamhack.

Startale captured my heart and tried to ransom it back to me, but I let them keep it for free.
No regrets.
