Roccat is a very good brand of gaming peripherals and their gear almost never disappoints. The players are lucky to be able to use their hardware when playing, and the prizes should be quite big.

Lol, if it's for hardware, i wonder what it would be? Mouse/keyboard/pad? If it is it, then all progamers would prefer their own gears

I don't think they are going to force players to use different gear. Its a sponsorship, which likely just involves ads being run and the casters using the equipment.

The post only mentions Roccat providing gear for the event, basically this means that the casters get new stuff to use (they used gear from Roccat at the ESL studio for ever, so nothing new here). Pretty sure no participating player will use any of it, mainly because Roccat is bulky and not really high in quality and pros bring their own gear which they have to use because of sponsorship contracts and such. That's like Qpad sponsoring the ESWC some years ago by providing a set of ESWC-themed mousepads to them, except for Qpad actually throwing in a good amount of money for the prize-pool which Roccat (from the announcement) doesn't seem to have done for the WCS. Interesting what exactly should we get excited about in this sponsorship (unless they actually are giving the ESL/WCS money but they just want to keep quiet about that).

When ROCCAT appearead personally I tought it won't do well but I am really happy that they are on the right track. This is a really nice move from them, not only supporting players/teams but a whole tournament! Big up!

I have it when sponsors are not really present in my home country!
I do support eSports, so I want to buy stuff from them, when the company has good product (as in the case of ROCCAT).

I guess it could be a try out kinda deal which could become something bigger if Roccat feels satisfied with the response. But I'm certain that there is money involved already. Doesn't make much sense if not.

I'm really happy for this but I do wish more "non gaming" sponsors would start sponsoring eSports outside of Korea (for example Samsung/KT/SKT in Korea) since it'd show it's getting bigger

I watched WCS Eu last night... are people really falling for this shit anymore ?
The fucking recruitment adds from Starship troopers seem to be aimed at a smarter audience.
The whole: "99999 DPI, get headshot super kills with no latency and 6 billion colors IT'S EXTREME GAMING E SSSSSSSSSSPORTS GAMING" is bad at best and cringe worthy enough to stop taking a company seriously forever at worst.
There really are things that can make a mouse high quality and versatile, but those things are mainly it's weight, it's shape, the way extra buttons are placed so that they are still accessible while not forcing you to change the way you hold the mouse, the way it works on different surfaces, the durability of it, a more lag free wireless function than your usual wireless mouse... etc
All those things can be reasons why someone with money to spare that spends a lot of time on the computer might spend time browsing trough mouses and finding one that fits than spending 100-300$ on it, the "EXTREME 66666666666 DPI mmmmEGA colors in 6 million varieties for ssssssuper skill" will make a young kids want it ( maybe ) and for the rest of the audience that is above the mental age of 10 it will simply sink in the name "roccat", a thing which can also be done with a way less annoying add.

Dude, it's 16,8 million colours. To put this in perspective: A Super Nintendo is capable of showing 32 768 colours.
That's like 513 SNES in your palm!. It's amazing.
