IM, Prime, MVP leave eSF

LG-IM, Prime, and Team MVP have cancelled their registration to the eSF.

Soul joins eSF

Soul (former STX Soul) has joined the Esports Federation. Head Coach Kim Kim Gi stated "I'm very happy to join the eSF. We will work to create a good esports culture, and we'll try to attain the greatest result in GSTL alongside our Proleague victory. I believe the eSF and Soul can do a lot of things together."

The eSF stated "We welcome SOUL into the eSF, and we will help help the players so they can stably compete in the GSTL and participate in foreign tournaments."

So the GSTL champions are going to KeSPA.

The KeSPA champions are going to eSF.

While this whole mess is extremely bad for SC2 in Korea, you have to admit its fucking hilarious.

It's funny how all you people assume IM is going to proleague since they're not participating in GSTL. They have great money problems wince they have no main sponsor, that's probably the reason they're not participating in Proleague. Most IM players don't get paid, and those that do the money from from the Coach's pocket. Everyone's making all these disbanding rumours, they should be making them for these eSF teams...

EDIT: NVM, ignore that, didn't read IM and Prime quit the eSF and the other new rumours/dvelopments.

IM has two League teams. They want to join KeSPA to play in the LoL Proleague. They just rearranged their entire League roster and their #2 team made the Code A finals of Korean LoL.

Why would IM leave GSTL if they're not joining proleague/kespa, the only reason would be they're disbanding. They're not disbanding so they will join proleague/kespa. Seems fairly obvious to me.

I wonder how they will do in GSTL without Innovation, Classic, Mini or Hyvaa. This could be rather interesting.

Yeah, I guess it will be. I'm also a bit worried that, without a sponsor, will they even be able to last long enough to reach the GSTL finals?

even as the korean scene falls to pieces around them the teams are still stabbing each other in the back segregating the scene in to 2 organisations. how many teams have to completely die before they stop all acting like idiots? ;o

I'm so confused as to why prime is leaving. Why would KeSPA want them? They'll get so destroyed in pro league unless something changes drastically.

ESF should just swallow their pride and disband (the organization) and let their teams join Kespa. I dont know what FXO and ST are waiting for, get off the ship already, its half-way sunk.

Why WOULDN'T KeSPA want them? Them being in proleague will only help them, as they can get a stable major sponsor with KeSPA's help.

Because all they are is a SC2 team with a small roster that got destroyed in a weak GSTL last season

It's K, ST and Ax-Acer are going to carry eSF, don't you even worry.

Edit: In the interest of full disclosure, I'm mainly hating on KeSPA for sentimental reasons -- I actually like their new president, and the whole situation with the Korean gov't is probably what the Korean scene needs to stop it from collapsing completely. The only things I dislike about them currently is how entirely terrible the production of Proleague has been thus far, and their fanboys. :p

Too little gain to jump the ship, esp. since none of them have LoL teams & PL is delayed & it might be the last SC2 PL anyways. 45k ain't chump change even for a team.

We are seeing the beginning of a new Era. We are seeing the beginning of Innovation owning some serious face once again.

We are seeing the rise of a new Proleague with the elite teams. We are seeing a new SOUL emerge for ESF. An interchange of blood. A mingling of two different and opposite worlds. The ESF. The KesPA. Two races ready to breed and to become hybrid. A new transformation.

Massive shake-up going on with SC2 in Korea :s

Hopefully this will help Soul find a new sponsor, as well as IM.

It would be kind of funny if Soul finds a sponsor before Prime.

It's already settling back into its proper order. Bomber just nuked all his vikings on stream by accident and lost 30 seconds later to a Protoss deathball.

My optimistic prediction is that teams get their finances and LoL team details in order after all of this and stabilize. Worst case scenario would be full-out civil war between GOM and KeSPA.

That's not going to happen with WCS' no-compete rule, lol. GSTL is already dead by the looks of it, though this season might be interesting, so I wouldn't even count that.

It's a great move for Prime, IM and MVP because they want to get their LoL teams involved with KeSPA. I'm excited to see them participate in Proleague, IM especially. But I admit, it does really suck for GSTL because 3 amazing teams have left i t.

Because training 8-12 hours a day is exactly what he needs to fix his physical ailments... (unless you mean the team mvp in which I doubt it will do much, if anything).

That comment is actually hilarious if you are talking about the player.

After all, Mvp used to be on a KeSPA team... add in the fact that he's one of the only players who does not live at the teamhouse (he lives with his girlfriend) and it becomes apparent that Mvp won his 4 GSLs on the back of... well, practice at home under his own schedule and motivation. If anything, Mvp is the example for anti-KeSPA practice

I've always wanted IM to join KeSPA and keep LG as their main sponsor. But from the look of things after the dust has settled KeSPA hasn't become more powerful than before, losing their league team champion and also their ace to a foreign team...

Ah well, at the very least I hope IM will be LG-IM for the long term after this. KeSPA please help them achieve this!

My theory is that Blizzard has played this eSF vs Kespa thing so well that it scarily resembles the Starcraft Storyline.

Let eSF be zerg and Kespa be protoss

Kespa was winning until they were swarmed by eSF

Then Blizzard decided to create a hybrid breed by incorporating eSF into Kespa and vice-versa

Doesn't this sound familiar guys, now I have to decide who Terrans are (the community?)
I wasted my nights, you turned out the lights, now I'm paralysed, still stuck in that time...

Okay, see, foreign players aren't quite as skilled as Koreans, but at least the Foreign scene isn't doing its damndest to kill itself off.

ST disbanded their league team a while ago due to salary disputes

Ironically they were one of the very, very first teams to get into League in Korea. I believe they were there from the very beginning. I believe that was the team that Fruitdealer founded in early 2012.

So I guess Soul lost their STX corp sponsorship and thus decided to join eSF? Just to think they were the winners of last season... Oh well. The eSF teams that left obviously are going to join KeSPA and Proleague.

Its not so much that they lost their STX sponsorship and more that STX is in the process of going bankrupt. STX (the company) might very well not exist for long, period.

STX Souls losing their sponsor has nothing to do with the state of SC2 and everything to do with the state of the global economy / shipping industry.

And this argument is supposed to tell us it has nothing to do with the state of SC2? Like you said, state of SC2 is always bad, and now sugar high is over. There will probably be no SC2 poleague in the future, GSTL won't find sponsors, star SC2 players become bounty hunters to snatch those remaining foreign tourny prizes, and average players retire or migrate to LoL.

Korean teams have had difficulty finding sponsors since the dawn of SC2. Theres nothing new here.

I didn´t said it is something new. I said you should think about this when analysing the scene.
If it´s new or old doesn´t matter.
BTW, it was not a "SC2 is dying", it was a "Put all variables on your equation".
Lets just make a bad relation,
- Imagine that the heat (Miami heat) franchise just brake down today magically.
- Tomorrow you´ll have a lot of people wanting to buy the franchise, because it generates profit.
- This is something that show that a scene have health.

Thats not the case of SC2, so the scene needs to develop first to be attractive to sponsors, be profitable.
And it should be considered, not just "meh. it was always like that".
And in the 7th day, Flash stopped macroing the universe.

The KeSPA champions are going to eSF.

While this whole mess is extremely bad for SC2 in Korea, you have to admit its fucking hilarious.

see this is a great tweet

just to make a point, i'm going to steal it and see how many RTs I get

I really don't think so...
The KeSPA champions got fucked, so they are going to eSF to stay alive.
eSF right now is being treated like the minor leagues, or like a secondary pro league that just isn't as famous or established.
That's what they are, and that's where SouL has opportunity, so ofc, why not?!

IM needs money. They can't get anything from eSF, and KeSPA is the place to be if you're going to be professional. They, of all teams, have so much reason to join KeSPA. Prime and MVP are doing it more to reastablish themselves. They need a jump start in order to not only remain healthy, but also to see progress and thrive in professional eSports.

In my honest opinion, eSF has done what they needed to by sustaining the eSports scene for this long.
Their use has pretty much expired, and it's just a matter of time before GOM, and the rest of eSF have partnerships with KeSPA.

Yes, there are parts of this news that are bad (unsettling roots, etc) but this is not bad news. This is normal and will lead to progress. All parties will benefit this way, especially since its only a few teams at first and not all teams leaving eSF at once.
This will help keep stability throughout this transitive period on Korean SC2.

Although Prime MVP and IM leave eSF does that mean they will join KeSPA?

Most likely financial issues, IM and MVP are both really, really big teams with a lot of successful players and tons of sponsors (more so IM), but they still can't afford to pay salaries to their players, KeSPA provides them that stability they need at this point. Prime has had financial problems since its inception and had tried hard but been unsuccessful in getting more sponsors, they also need financial help.

Its only logical this happened, and I expect more Korean teams and eventually GOM to switch to KeSPA and eSF to dissolve, eSF has served its purpose but its time is up.
