The Protoss duo of STX_Dear and MVP.Swagger(aka Killer) were the next two players to book Code S tickets as the Up/Down matches neared their conclusion. The result came as a surprise, with accomplished Code S veterans such as MarineKingPrime, Samsung_RorO, and ST_Curious also playing in the group but being unable to advance.
The group did not lack for drama, starting when MarineKing made a fatal mistake against Dear midway through the matches. Greedily salvaging his bunker after fending off Dear's early proxy-gate pressure, MKP would fall haplessly to the follow-up 4-gate attack. This set up Dear to go 3 - 0 and advance in first place, while MarineKing was forced into tie-breaker matches after tying 2 - 2 alongside Curious and Swagger.
There, cheese tactics proved to be MarineKing's bane once more. Swagger used an immortal-zealot all-in to defeat Curious and a ten-gate to defeat MarineKing, earning a return to Code S while the other two players were relegated to Code A alongside RorO.
lol I'm pretty sure I made a post in the code a results thread saying gogo EffOrt, Life, Leenock, Curious, ryul2, Losira, RorO.... pretty sure shine is going to get through with how my picks have been going this could have been like the sickest code s ever, its already got literally the most murderous lineup of terran and protoss, except for YoDaByuNSquirtleFanTaSyAvenge I can't think of anybody to add to make it better. but the zergs in it so far.... instead of naming the zergs who're good but not in code s like you can with t/p, you name the good ones who`re in.. soulkey symbol TRUE... that`s it. drg showed some nice lair game, but he`s literally never been a hive player.. so maybe four good zergs. and alll those other ones have fallen through so far
Please EffOrt and KangHo, please get out of this group.

It's not just about even distribution but also quality of players... I've never seen a game from hyvaa, soo, songduri or sleep that I've liked. Except for hyvaa vs flash in match one of the stx/kt proleague playoffs. Didn't really like any of true's game either until his code a run

To be fair, MKP kind of robbed himself in that game, he should have scouted more thoroughly with his reaper to see those gates, and salvaging the bunkers was just unnecessary greed.
What was MKP supposed to do in the last game v. Killer? Don't get me wrong I love Killer and that he advanced, I am just curious as to what a T should do to avoid that situation. I thought MKP opened quite conservatively and Killer's opening wasn't an all-in at all, but it looked like MKP had no chance no matter what.
