With the Starleague finals over, the Up/Down matches moved into the second half of groups with the final six Code S spots on the line. The multiple time champion MVP.DongRaeGu clinched first place in Group D with a 3 - 0 record, returning to the Premier Division after spending one season down in Code A. By qualifying, DongRaeGu also attained the famous "Nestea Award" for ten consecutive Code S appearances.
Alongside him advanced STX_Trap in second place, qualifying for his second WCS KR Premier League and first Code S. Unfortunately for SKT_FanTaSy, IM_Squirtle, and ROOT.YugiOh, who were all participants in the previous Auction OSL, they will have to start the upcoming season in Code A.
Wow, DRG back to code S, never expected that. :D Although, to be honest, I stopped following SC2 competitive scene that much, is he playing better just those matches, or he is back in his old shape(or at least close to)?

if you want to rewatch the games... you will see it wasn't only him winning, but his opponents losing. For instance: vs Fantasy he lost 25 drones because of TERRIBLE micro in the beginning, it was almost ridiculous. And he had a strange unit composition as well - but he won because Fantasy made stupid errors as well - the game didn't really feel as you'd be watching a Code A/S game at all...

Yeah I thought so. Well, at least he made it. Thanks for the answer.
Ah Squirtle, I didn't get to see him play, was it good? Ever since that GSL finals against Mvp, I've been hoping to see Squirtle deep in a tourney again.
DRG was never like MMA or MVP at the top, he won Code S but ..... the good thing is he has not fallen in such a slump like the terrans.
Huh? He was absolutely on top for a decent period. Early 2012 he not only won code S, but made the finals of 4 major MLG events (and won 2 of them). This was all following a 2nd place at the Blizzard Cup.

It's an award for performing in the GSL. The OSL is another league so why should it count.
I dunno, maybe because both now are WCS Korea?
Dropping down from OSL Code S takes you into GSL Code A, not OSL Code A? Clearly the leagues are cooperating enough for it to count? But then again in Chae's eyes his WCS Korea is obviously better than the other WCS Korea.

They don't really cooperate tough, they take turns in who produces and some casting piggybacking, nothing more. They are still their own tournament with their own rules and format.

And just think if Life wouldnt have a down right now it would be 100% balanced.
Pretty sure that DRG was actually good longer then MMA. I remember it starting out as DRG-MMA rivalry but then turned into DRG-MKP when MMA was dropping off. Ironically DRG dropped off a bit after the queen buff patch.

Clearly MKP's and DRG's level of play is now connected. Meeting in so many finals during the early 2012 period. both falling off after the queen patch. MKP makes Ro8 WCG, DRG starts performing well at IEM and stuff. Then MKP loses CPL after starting out well and making the finals, DRG gets 3-0d by San in ASUS after doing well the first few days. COINCIDENCE?!
not to mention both have been in Code S the same number of consecutive seasons before this and both faultered in the up and downs last season.
Maybe I'm just fucking dumb, but how does DRG get the Nestea award in these circumstances?

WCS KR alternates between GomTV/GSL (S1/S3) and OGN/OSL (S2). Technically speaking, he spent WCS KR S2/OSL in Challenger League and made it back into Premier League in time for WCS KR S3/GSL to begin again. Some people are angry that WCS KR S2/OSL doesn't count, but officially GomTV is not counting WCS KR S2/OSL towards the Nestea Award.
Oh Fantasy, i don't know how you manage to stay being one of my favorite terrans with the roller coaster ride that is your performance. I am glad to see DRG possibly returning to form though, Congrats!
