Sao Paulo and Singapore. Two cities that have played host to IEM in the past and will do so again this season. http://us.intelextrememasters.com/season8/
We are excited to announce that we are adding Singapore and Sao Paulo to the Intel Extreme Masters 8 calendar next to Shanghai and New York City. This marks the return of the Intel Extreme Masters to both cities in South East Asia and South America, respectively, where we have enjoyed a very warm reception from local gamers. Intel Extreme Masters Singapore takes place on November 28th to December 1st, a full year after our first visit to the country. In StarCraft II, despite the crowd’s almost unilateral support for Manuel "Grubby" Schenkhuizen, Ju "Sting" Hoon made his breakthrough performance; eventually defeating his Dutch opponent to take the title. Singapore was also the breakthrough tournament for Polish League of Legends team Meet Your Makers, who, after taking first would go on to play at every single stop in the seventh season. Local talent and unlikely champions arose from Singapore last season, who knows what will happen this season? We will reach our third continent this season when we arrive in Sao Paulo, Brazil. It will be the host city of the Intel Extreme Masters for the third time around in February 2014. Here, South American talent will clash with veterans from all over the world once more. With a burgeoning eSports scene, Brazil has always shown us a warm welcome with a truly exuberant crowd. Teams and players from Brazil have had significant successes in the Intel Extreme Masters in the past and we’re looking forward to them putting on a show. It is always an exhilarating prospect to bring the Intel Extreme Masters to cities and countries where international eSports tournaments are few and far between. Thus we feel that Singapore and Sao Paulo will be fitting stops for Season Eight. - See more at: http://us.intelextrememasters.com/season8/#sthash.tLuoD7VK.dpuf

Its not a bad thing since China is always late to deliver visas. Brasil is pretty fast tho,its a way better choice.

Wonder what titles will be at each event.
|
Awesome - Grubby, have an amazing showing perhaps?
|
Does this mean IEM NYC is not happening anymore?
edit: ha - dickhead mode deserved. It was in the first sentence that they are just adding it to season, not replacing. 0.o
anyway, looking forward to all IEMs, especially an event on the east coast, seems like its been forever since a major U.S offline event wasn't in California.
|
I hope it's still possible to have iem in Poland

I know for a fact mr bitter and Ret had a blast here in São Paulo last time. Hope this year we can have more top-of-the-food-chain players to compete!
|
Sao Paulo is an awesome choice! On the linked page it only announces SC2, is there gonna be MOBA (sorry) or FPS tourneys as well?
|
Could a mod fix the title, please? There is no "Sau Paulo", only Sao Paulo (or São Paulo).
@topic I really intend to go to São Paulo to watch the games, even though I live in Southern Brazil (11h by car, 1h by plane). Let's see if I can manage to get some off-time (I work during weekends too :o )
|
I know it´s kinda off-topic, but is anything planned at Gamescom?
|
Awesome, since those regions are usually not very blessed with LANs. Sweet!

China already has Shanghai happening which is more than enough for a country which doesn't get enough SC2 attention.
My only problem with these unpopular locations as a venue are timezones, they're all really poor for Europe which is a good portion of the demographic - IEM Shanghai starts at 3am CEST for an example at how bad at it is - Singapore will be about the same but Sao Paolo will slightly more relaxing but only slightly

I hope some kespa player can come to Sao Paulo... I know its very difficult and having an IEM here is already so awesome, but seeing some bonjwa like Flash, JD, Stork or Bisu would be like a dream come true to me... :D

Our homies to the south tend to really do it up for events (if music can be any basis for eSports). Maybe I can make it for Sao Paulo, that'd be amazing.

I swear to fu***Ing god I'll attend to this year's IEM here in São Paulo. I've been postponing and giving up on it for the past years but this time I'll finally have a mousepad I can bug the hell out of the players for an autograph! And it's only 25km from my house, or 3h by public transportation!
|
Oops wrong thread. Still stoked for this event

25 km takes 3 hours? Damn, that's close to walking speed haha
Looking forward to these tournaments!

I really need to take a photo of my car's onboard computer. It goes like this: Trip A: 120km Time: 6:49h Avg Speed: 19km/h With +/- 10% of variation since the tank is over 1/2 full. I kid you not, the traffic jam here in São Paulo is hideous if you do not have a subway (no puns intented) close to your house.
PS: I'll probably go to the venue by foot + bus + subway + bus + foot in this precise order, all while carrying the cheapest not-so-bad mousepad in the world, a Titan Megamat

Is the venue already decided? They usually did IEM with Campus Party at Ibirapuera. If it is there this year as well I might even go this time.

YES! Oh god I missed the last IEM São Paulo so much. It was...two years ago? Last year there wasn't even going to be anything SC2, only a huge League of Legends tournament. We made a couple threads asking ESL for an SC2 event and they did a local one. Was pretty good as well, but not even close to IEM 2011, when casters and players came over and stuff. Nice to see they're back, and I hope our players don't get stomped as hard as last time, lol.
On a side note, it's São Paulo. Sao Paulo is ok. Sao Paolo, Sau Paulo, uhhh...
|
Great to see IEM back in Singapore! Hope they take up more space than they did last year. Was kind of hard to watch players that weren't featured on stage to play.
|
Well all events can't be "fixed" for the Europe audience.. Gratz guys, just got an awesome tournament..
