Hey Everyone,
We’re very excited to announce that as of today, XMG will be sponsoring Evil Geniuses. As most of you already know, they began sponsoring team Alliance (which the community likes to refer to as EG’s sister team, of sorts) in the beginning of June, and we are very happy that they have now agreed to support us as well.
XMG is an awesome company to work with because their people really know eSports and understand a professional gaming team’s wants and needs. Sometimes, with companies that make higher-priced products, it can be hard even after you’re sponsored to get the number of items you really need to support your team. And in that kind of situation, the sheer number of players on EG doesn’t tend to help our cause . But XMG has really come through in terms of notebook support, and we are very happy with the quantity of notebooks they’re offered to provide us with.
Another thing that’s great about XMG is that they like to use their team sponsorships to help their sponsored teams engage better with the community. They always have staff on site at tournaments to produce content, and as part of our sponsorship with them, they made it very clear that they wanted to us produce some entertaining videos that our fans would appreciate.

still says powered by Raidcall at the top :o I wonder if they are no longer sponsored by them though since Raidcall sponsors the eg dota 2 league that they run.
I know they are popular teams, but I dont understand why EG and IM have like 50 different companies sponsoring them (i feel like when you have so many, you are just another one on the list and forgotten about) and then you have other teams that are damn good with maybe 0,1, or 2 sponsors. Oh well

What conflict? A company often sponsors multiple teams.

They give you more money. Teams can be good without lots of money. Good teams can get better with more money. Money is never bad for teams.

Because EG and IM have good people running their marketing and management.
Pretty evil plan to push the no personality korean stereotype in the vid using jaedong, thereby increasing the image of foreigners as more entertaining and marketable.

I don't know about IM, but EG does a fantastic job marketing and advertising their sponsors, regardless of how many they have. And that's what companies want: to sponsor a team that can bring them new customers.
cuz eg really needed another sponsor... they're already the richest team outside asia. why not sponsor a team that actually needs that money to exist? or maybe some talented players that can't even afford to travel to tourneys? srsly.. it's like mcdonalds sending food aid to America.

It's probably because EG (and to a lesser extent IM) actually go out of their way to give exposure to their sponsors. I think Monster has gotten more than their money's worth out of sponsoring EG; Kingston and Raidcall probably as well. Similar story for LG with IM (although I'd be hardpressed to name their other sponsors, but I also don't follow them as much).
Other teams are more reticent with blatantly pushing their sponsors into the forefront. Sure, they'll get tagged onto the end of an interview, but they don't actively promote them (even if it's corny as hell, like always making sure there's a can of monster on the table).

Just Razer, Monster, and XMG. Also, the green in Razer is noticeably different from the others.

Since you're upset about it, why don't you pull money out of your pocket and give it to a more needy team?
Obviously EG provides a good ROI on their investment which is why companies would sponsor
I thought they were already sponsored by XMG...I mean Stephano was flashing around his XMG laptop during WCS EU like a few weeks ago. Also, the 'totally not EG' EU version of EG in the form of Alliance has been sponsored by them for a while, I just assumed they were already sponsoring EG.
I've actually been considering getting an XMG laptop. I'm hesitating between their products or an ASUS gaming laptop.
Decisions, decisions. I'd like to support EG, but I'd actually rather buy the better deal. :p Do any of you have opinions on the quality of XMG's stuff?

I think recently in my own personal opinion XMG's quality in terms of their products is definitely on the rise. However, this is far from a professionals opinion but a personal one. The one thing that I guess could be a complaint is a lot of their products can be very bland looking but can't judge a book by it's cover especially when it pertains to computer related products.

I wonder what would happen if back in the Brood War days, someone went up to iNcontroL and said to him: "You know, in a few years you are going to be making silly videos with Jaedong, and it will be your job."

Grats on the sponsorship though!
Yeah same here. Maybe in the future it will just be recognized as EG.EU or something.
I fear eventually companies will not want to sponsor EG because their name is simply one on a huge list, not a lot of name awareness getting out there.

If a company is "saturated" with sponsors and find it harder to find more, I think they're doing okay. No reason to feel fear because of it!

I think it is more of old CLG.eu now EG.LoL provided the ROI, even the statement by XMG mentions them by name.
