The DreamHack Open is once again returning to sunny Spain and the beautiful city of Valencia. DreamHack, Eizo, Logitech G and Kingston HyperX are happy and proud to welcome Apollo, Artosis, Rachel, Smix and Adebisi to the event as they will carry the main livestream from Spain.
DreamHack Open 2013 is a huge success so far. The first 2 stops (Stockholm & Summer) have been the two most-viewed events ever in StarCraft-history at DreamHack. Eight players have already qualified to the Grand Finals at DreamHack Winter 2013, and now DreamHack look forward to qualify another four players during Valencia 19-20 July. Sign-up's are still open and the first player list will be announced soon.
Today DreamHack together with it's partners EIZO, Logitech G and Kingston HyperX can present that some of the best in the industry that will guide YOU through the competition.
Shaun 'Apollo' Clark will of course cast DreamHack once again and bring his excessive knowledge and world class commentating for all StarCraft II fans. He has recently moved to Cologne in Germany to full time cast WCS Europe Premier League and will be more up-to-date then ever. At Apollo's side DreamHack are very happy to once again welcome back Dan 'Artosis' Stemkoski who always is phenomenal. Dan will bring latest flavour of the month from the WCS Korea Premier League where he is covering the league for GOM.tv.
To lead the show as host will be no other than Rachel 'SeltzerPlease' Quirico who is returning to Spain for another excellent performance on stage and bringing the reactions from the competitors. At Valencia the DreamHack audience will be introduce to a new face as no other than the very popular Sue 'Smix' Lee who will care of all the action from the tournament area and take the pulse on the competitors throughout the weekend. Sue has acted as co-host and translator at various events like MLG and IPL. What would a DreamHack be without Mike 'Adebisi' Van Driel leading the casters at the battlefield. Mikes in-game observering is well known around the world but his great work behind the scenes is also an important part of the production to bring the best quality to the audience.
Artollo? Apollis? I don't know what souds worse.. xD
The casting and hosts are looking great. I hope Apollo and Artosis do not burn up throughout the tournament without some other casters to back them up.
I also like that they name everyone by their nicks except for 'Rachel' xD
Lookin' good. hope to see some kespa players this time around(flash mentioned in his interview post asian marshal arts games thing that he would attend 2-3 foreign tournaments before blizzcon).
Me and a lot of other people really enjoyed his casting at the latest Dreamhack event... It seems strange for him to not be on the line-up this time around.

Doesnt dreamhack always do it like this? Apollo + 1 random caster at every event, not really too suprising that nathanias isnt there imo, I hope he'll be at Winter though
I have not been impressed by Seltzer's hosting in a long time. Regardless, I think people have too great emphasis on hosts and casters, and have had for a long time.
I would have liked to see Nathanias casting again but I guess if he's busy basking in his recently acquired e-sports dollars and international fame, Artosis is a good second choice. It's great to see the consistently excellent observing skills of Adebisi getting a well-deserved place on the banner.
I just hope we get some Adebisi guest-casting. His observing gets all the hype, but I think he's an awesome commentator in his own right. Anyways, it's nice to see Seltzer in an SC2 event again!
Isn't it really though for two casters to do almost all the casting. Especially on the last day with the ro8 semi finals and finals. Having two duos seems the better choice to me.
well i gotta say this lineup is pretty amazing. i'd love to have geoff as a host though. also i hope they r not overdoing it on the analysis front and missing out on the fun parts. anyways im really exited, lets hope for a good player lineup! i would love to see life and maybe flash attending

Nah, dont think DH cares to much for IdrA. I might not be remembering it correctly but I think both Robert and Sundance were praising Alex Garfeilds decision to kick IdrA from EG.
That might have been Sirscoots though, I cant remember :[

Does Apollo actually understand the game better than Day9?
Yes without question. Back in 2011, Day9 was a top notch analytic caster. In 2013 he is still a very good hype caster, SC2 hero and overall awesome human being, but not so much a good analytical caster.
On July 05 2013 01:48 nimdil wrote: Does Apollo actually understand the game better than Day9?
The trick is staying current and that just comes down to how much time you can put into watching the various players. Day9 has a lot of other commitments that compete for his time.
I just noticed that somehow Artosis has ended up the man with half a face on the banner. When he said to the cameraman 'make sure you get my good side', I'm not sure he meant only that side.
I dont understand why they need american translator and host ? seems like they are wasting money imo ... hope it turns out that im wrong
You mean Smix? She is nice, knows korean, english; players know her and vice versa. She knows starcraft and is part of community for long. I'm more surprised that they are dragging Rachel from US - guess it should be easy enough to find replacement in Europe.

indeed . like redeye is kick ass . and he is in eu plane tickets would be much cheaper .
The AAces of starcraft will be performing miracles once again in Valencia. Abedesi need to step it up as he isn't able to catch all the action when players are starting to multitask and that he sometimes misses upgrades and other important not battle related details.

hahaha, that was good. I always enjoy how much life she injects into the translations, and how animated she is with gestures to help convey the nuances of what the player said. I am quite excited for this caster/hostess/observer line-up.

Actually I was thinking more about introducing someone new but if you want someone already proven then Soe (Memory Reminder) is living in Germany or Switzerland, I think. I recall her from 2012 WCS Germany and I also recall I found her smart, appropriately dressed (which Rachel is not as good in) and entertaining.
EDIT: I'm not saying I don't enjoy Rachel - she is sweet and enthusiastic. But I'd choose Soe over Rachel any day.

I think they'll be great too but it's never the same without you Geoff. Like homestory Cup 7 was amazing but if you were there it would have been that bit better.

I like how Incontrol and Take hosting, also Redeye is awesome.
Hard question about casters, we also got Tastless, Day9, Rotterdam, Mr Bitter, Tod, Khaldor and Khaelaris, probably I forgot to name a lot of superb casters, hope they'll excuse me :D
I want Smix to do her own interviews, not just translate. That would be cool. She is so verbally talented and loves the game, I think she would do a good job.

Pretty unlikely with the Proleague playoffs coming up.

I would suspect it's a combination of his price and his desirability and how badly he would want to go.
I think he prices himself out of most tournaments. Artosis may cost the same amount (I have no clue), but he's more desirable for tournaments as he is not only the best caster, he makes all your other casters look good.
If Tasteless wanted to travel more I suspect he could lower his price to match his desirability, which would see him at more tournaments (which would be totally frickin' sweet).
Really weird not seeing incontrol there as host. I highly associate him with dreamhack hosting now (among other things of course). Cool seeing artosis with apollo again though!
I think I'd like to see incontrol main hosting, seltzer as co-host (interviews, filling time, etc), smix as translator (all events should have her), and of course adebisi is a given as second best observer out there =P (legend too good, it's like flash vs innovation in observer wars). Then have apollo, artosis, and incontrol swapping around with casting. That's pretty much a perfect lineup for me.

In Real Talk Tasteless said he doesn't travel to foreign tournaments because unlike Artosis he has no family and so he does not need money as much and what he gets in Korea is more then enough (actually I recall him being proud of himself to a bit of unhealthy degree but then again he was pioneer in early days of SC1 so maybe it's justified - I don't know).
I liked them all with the exception of the blonde girl... is there a wiki page of her? I couldn't find anything, only that she dated TorcH, which is not much of an acomplishment
No discredit to dApollo, I love his casting, he's one of the best if not the best caster around to me, but I find it sad to not see Tasteless at foreign events anymore. Doesn't he get booked? Is is really that he lost his passion? I did follow him through broodwar even when he still was a player and as caster.... and its kind of like good memories. I miss that

Oo;;
No family to support * ^^;;
I like Apollo and Artosis as a pair. For those wishing for Nathanias, I wouldn't be surprised if he were one of the community streams for the group stages. I also miss iNcontroL and ReDeYe, but I'm sure Seltzer and Smix will produce something fresh and interesting. ^^

i´m a bit worried about idras future here... i so hoped, he´ll be announced as a caster on any given chance at every major tournament.... but as things turn out, it aint gonna happen!

Did you really expect a major tournament like Dreamhack to take up a relatively untested caster (no, EG team league doesn't count) over motherfuckin' Apollo and Artosis? I mean, it's Apollo and Artosis.
He's a good caster, but I honestly don't see anything about him that sets him above typical "pro player casting a game" status. And that's just not enough to cast a DH Valenica.
I like the lineup so far. Seltzer is an experienced host. I like Smix. She always brings a fun personality to the table. Moreso than other people I think. Apollo is perhaps my favorite European caster, and Artosis without Tasteless is always great to watch. They fit perfectly together as the Tastosis nerds, but I like other casters better than Tasteless... I like more focus on the games and less focus on just being nerds.
overall great lineup. it would be perfect with incontrol instead of seltzer. imo, she just cant hype stuff, often acts awkwardly and asks super boring questions probably because she does mostly lol these days.
Yay! Apollo and Artosis are two of my three favorite casters, and they've got an awesome observer too. I don't care too much about the hype and interviews and stuff outside of the games, so whether or not Seltzer is a good host doesn't really affect me. Really looking forward to this.
Well, this is pretty much perfect. Apollo & Artosis the best casters without a doubt, Incontrol would be a better host IMO, but it would probably look weird to have incontrol+smix together :D so this is fine too
Wonder who will be the play-by-play color commentator, both Apollo and Artosis bring such a high level of casting to the game.. both are very impressive and analytical

I know what you mean. Tasteless is what brought me to watchig professional SC regularly. It's just sad to see him less and less

...weird or awesome? they both have outgoing personalities and the physical contrast would be visually awesome. Giant friendly incontrol and friendly yet tiny Smix.

No, she doesn't hype stuff that well, but she is a lot less awkward than incontrol and at least asks relevant questions. She's a safe pair of hands that will keep things moving and avoid the cringe-worthy moments that you get with some other hosts.

Sad that you trivialise women in that way. You really think that's the reason she got the job?

Less awkward than Incontrol? Asks relevant questions? Incontrol is one of the best hosts out there in my opinion and his experience as a player lets him ask questions that make for excellent post/pre match interviews. I think he would be a great host for this event!

iNcontroL awkward? Are you insane or do you simply lack a sense of humor?
Hm, thats quite a nice group of people certainly. Two things that would make it even better: Artosis+Tasteless (yeah burn me but I like him), and another host instead of seltzer.

Over someone like Incontrol? Well considering he is better in literally every single aspect that makes you a good host its difficult to say.

You are assuming that Incontrol is sitting around doing nothing and wanting to host every single event. He might very well have a conflict or want to take a break.
