A large majority of the photos are a player super serious faced starring at their PC I'd love to be able to take these photos as well, but the brutal honest truth is that 99.9% of the time people are staring at one of four possible screens:
Unlike the previous tournaments, the player area was even darker and uneven than normal. Without going into entirely too much detail, the light in the player area at this event was about two times worse than previous events. + Show Spoiler [the lighting sucked] + If you note the EXIF data on a lot of the photos, I was shooting a lot of player pool shots at 1/60 f/2.8 ISO12800 with an additional +0.2-1.2EV added in post. This means the player pool was (relatively speaking) less than half the available light (and frequently as bad as a quarter) as previous events that I shot at 1/60 f/2.8 ISO6400 with +0.2-0.4EV added in post. With such a slow shutter speed, a lot of the quick and very short-lived emotional outbursts are pretty much impossible to get without a flash (Don't do this at live events. Seriously.) or cranking up ISO sensitivity (much more grainy photos). | ||
