You were the very first player to advance through the qualifiers. How do you feel?

I am really glad. Also, I am glad that I don’t have to be unemployed during the break season. (laughs).

Any specific match that was particularly difficult?

There really wasn’t one. I met against MyuNgSik today for the semi-finals after I met him before during the MLG qualifiers. I was able to win because I won game one.

Recently, you’ve been slowly raising your momentum for Proleague and you even got through an individual qualifiers today.

I had a rough time for BW and WoL but I think HotS fits me the best. As of late, I feel like I’ve found out the concept for this game bit by bit. However, my results are still minor so I am not going to get conceited.

You tried out for last season’s Challenger League qualifiers also.

I got eliminated from the very first round for that one (laughs). I felt so embarrassed. For this time around, I at least wanted to make it to the second or third round.

The format for Season 2’s OSL and Season 3’s GSL Premier League is different.

I haven’t personally experienced them yet, but I know that there are players that want to avoid the OSL format since they mix in bo1s. And that’s because een if there is a skill difference, there is a chance that you can get eliminated because you got unlucky.

Anything else you would like to say?

I hope that all my teammates that weren’t able to get through for the daytime slot, keep their heads up. I hope everyone who’s going to be participating in the afternoon qualifiers will do well. Lastly, I want to let my parents know that I love them.

Tell us how you feel about getting through the qualifiers.

This was my first time ever getting through an SC2 qualifiers. My group was rather easy, opponent-wise. I probably would have been really disappointed had I not managed to make it through but I was able to make it through so I am glad.

You must not have had that much time to prepare since KT Rolster had to focus fiercely on keeping second place.

I just prepared the basics. I focused on using implementing orders that I had used for Proleague.

Any specific match that you remember from today?

I remember the final match. I was really nervous because I started off the set with a loss in game one. And then I was put in a disadvantageous situation for game two because my proxy stargate build got noticed by my opponent. But then somehow the game progressed into a macro game and I was able to win (laughs). My opponent decided to re-use his game one build order for game three. I was already expecting it so the win was easier than I expected.

Your first time getting through a qualifiers. What are your goals for this season?

My first and foremost goal is to get past the first round of Code A so that I don’t fall back to the qualifiers. I would like to send a notice to my future opponent. I am going to win no matter what.

Anything else you would like to say?

I will be leaving for America tomorrow for MLG. I will establish a good result so that I can come back and treat all my teammates to a meal (laughs). Lastly, I want to let Dear and soO, who advanced along with me, watch their backs.

Your first time getting through a qualifiers since returning to SC2.

From a long time ago, the qualifiers have always been a difficult place to get through. I feel good that I was able to get through a qualifiers since returning (laughs).

Why did you choose League of Legends?

I had gotten eliminated from individual leagues and my team league results were not great. So I wanted to have a fresh start by switching to LoL.

Wasn’t it difficult to find your skills again since returning?

It was really difficult at first. But I felt that I could catch up in no time after playing for about two to three weeks. So I found confidence because of that.

Were there any difficult matches today?

I remember the match against Last. I lost game one way too easily because I got hit with a proxy 11/11. I also struggled for game three because I got hit with a proxy reaper strategy.

What are your goals for this season?

My goal is to get to Code S.

You are currently a teamless player. Are you looking for a new team?

I think I’m going to be able to find a good team in just a little bit.

Anything else you would like to say?

I was able to come back to SC2 because of my family’s support. When players get eliminated from the regular season and have to go through the qualifiers again, it is also difficult for those players to have to go through that. I really hope people realize just how difficult it is to get through a qualifiers.

You established a result right after returning to the KR region. How do you feel?

I think it’s been half a year since I’ve made it into an individual Korean league. I am glad because I haven’t been through in a while. I also feel good that I’ve made this kind of result right after coming back from AM.

Out of all the EG players, you decided to play in KR. What was the reason?

I chose AM initially because I was able to participate in the qualifiers that would take me straight to the Premier League. I was thinking about AM for Season 2 but I got this thought that I wanted to do well in Korea since I debuted here, so I changed regions.

What did your teammates say about your decision to change regions?

They cheered me on as they said that it looked like I was booming with confidence. But they did tell me that I could participate in the Premier League through the AM region and then advance to the Season Finals that way. But I have no regrets. I think it was good that I chose to play in the KR region.

For Season 1, you got eliminated from the AM Premier League qualifiers.

It was the NA server so the lag was pretty bad. My opponent also did pretty well but it wasn’t a pleasant environment so I also got frustrated. I got this thought that I wanted to play with a lot of good players in a pleasant environment.

There were a lot of mirror matches today. In the finals, you met Woonjin Stars’ Mekia.

The final match was the hardest. I started off the set with a loss in game one, and things were really bad in that game that I lost. And then I got nervous for game two because I started off with a disadvantage.

What are your goals for Season 2’s Challenger League?

Obviously I am going to be aiming for the Premier League. I want to break my personal record of the Code S Ro16 for Season 3 and also qualify for the Season 3 Finals.

You will be playing for the first time at the GangNam studio.

I’ve really wanted to play in there. I’ve heard that things have improved greatly from the MokDong studio. I am really excited for it.

Anything else you would like to say?

Jaedong hyung has a movie preview today at six. I plan to attend so I hope a lot of people will tune in for it. I also want to thank two of my fans who came to the qualifiers today. My Proleague results haven’t been that great lately so my parents have been worried about me. So I want to hurry up and start doing well. Lastly, I want to thank my girlfriend.

Tell us how you feel about getting through the qualifiers?

I am glad that I was able to get through the qualifiers. But there’s another part of me that feels rather off-put that it took me this long to get through the qualifiers.

You returned to the individual leagues after six months.

It’s not like my skills fell off during practice or anything like that, but there was just a lot of pressure for qualifiers. In my past qualifier performances, I let my guard down against all those amateur players so I ended up losing.

Your finals opponent was AnNyeong. That match was really fierce.

After I saw who I was up against, I figured that I would win with a 2-0 score. Mainly because I had beaten him pretty easily on ladder before. But I lost the first game in that set because I took damage from his all-in. But I was able to pull off a 2-1 victory because I was able to focus after that loss.

You took on a lot of damage from your opponent’s all-in for game three on Akilon Wastes.

I deciphered his all-in a little too late. I didn’t have confidence that I was going to be able to block it, but I blocked it somehow cause I focused (laughs). I was able to feel that my opponent was feeling nervous after I blocked that attack. So I was able to approach the rest of the game with an advantage.

What are your goals for this season?

I want to win the third round of Code A and advance to Code S.

Anything else you would like to say?

Yesterday, my best friend got admitted to the army. I want to let him know that I want him to safely return. We have a GSTL match vs AxiomAcer head of us. We’ve been suffering too many unintentional all-kill losses all this time but I will make sure that we finish off our final match with a victory.

Tell us how you feel about advancing through?

I stayed in Germany for a week and I just now arrived yesterday. It was so hot there that I slept naked and then I ended up catching a nasty cold. I think I was able to make a good result because I got a little better I took some medicine.

Did you expect to advance through after seeing your qualifiers group?

That’s correct. Compared to the other groups, I think my group was really comfortable. I had a feeling that I was going to advance through pretty easily as long as I was able to focus and play properly.

So the finals where you lost a game in the set is the match that you remember the most?

That’s correct. My finals opponent was better than I had expected. I remember that I played against him on ladder before and he was nowhere near that good during that game. That match was pretty difficult.

You participated in the HSC VII. How was your first ever European tournament experience?

It was fun. That was my first time experiencing a party environment tournament. I questioned as to whether or not it was okay to play the game while having this much fun but none the less, it was a really good experience. The second and third place finishers were overseas players, so this tournament made me think about a lot of things, as I realized that overseas players are also good players thanks to this tournament.

Do you plan to attend more overseas tournaments from here on out?

I want to attend overseas tournaments if the opportunity arrives. The flights are annoying and all but it is such a good experience to converse and hang out with overseas players.

How do you feel about approaching this season’s Challenger League?

I think I am perfectly capable of making it to Code S as long as I don’t get nervous and prepare extensively. It is all going to depend on how I do.

After winning the GSL last year, you went on a decline while staying on LG-IM, and now it seems like you are steadily on a rise ever since joining your new team, FXO. How has being with FXO been?

I have so much fun with my teammates at the team house. I am laughing a lot, having a great time, and also finding inspiration to play the game. Before all of this, I was actually struggling so much that I was thinking about retirement. But then I slowly went through a transition period and now I have a positive aspect on things. I can’t seem to replicate my old skills yet but I think it will be perfectly possible as long as I keep working hard like I’ve been doing now.

This season’s goals?

Of course it is to try to get to Code S. Aiming for the championship will be for the season after this one.

Anything else you would like to say?

I want to thank my friends and my family, my hyungs, the supervisor, the coach, and my teammates for all their support. I want to thank Leland for coming to the qualifiers to take photos. I want to thank the LG-IM supervisor for proposing this switch to FXO and allowing me to take a better road in my life. Lastly, I want to thank our sponsors FXO, Twitch.tv, Razer, 300apm, E.S.F.X, and imgur.
