Thank you so much again for all your support and kind words, every time I check back on this thread I find myself bursting with motivation to continue practicing at this ridiculous pace! In other news, I´m starting to realize not everyone might appreciate me constantly bumping this thread with small updates regarding my career here and there. So I´ve finally gotten around to setting up a Twitter-account (how idiot of me not to have done this earlier...) for my so far small but amazingly loyal and supportive following! <3, no homo. https://twitter.com/GGlaive It almost seems greedy to ask for more, I can´t even offer cookies, but follow me anyway? :D There you can expect more frequent updates about my progress in practice and any and all news regarding my career in general. While I´ll try to limit posting in this thread to only major news and conversing with all of you amazing people posting in this thread and sending me emails/PMs. I´ve thoroughly enjoyed getting to know many of you better and sharing experiences and hardships in life. And I´m so glad I´ve managed to inspire some people with my struggles and ambitions, I have my own sources of inspiration (For instance Go)Space, may he rest in peace) and know how incredibly important they are for those who drew the short straw in the giant genetic lottery that is life. Sometimes just to find the strength to get up out of bed in the morning. One can only play the hand he´s dealt to the best of his ability, words I try to live by. Not to mention the fact that while my micro is really strong, I´m still slipping embarassingly much on my macro. But the supply blocks are getting less horrible with each passing day. Work on the stream is estimated to be completed within a week or two, I will officially by applying to become featured then. In the meantime I´m content closing the distance between me and Grandmaster a little bit every day, making it all the more worthy once it´s finally up there!

https://www.facebook.com/thatglaiveguy This just in! The domain of my website will be www.thatglaiveguy.com As you can imagine, I thought long and hard about what to name the website. I wanted it to be meaningful. I wanted it to be easy to type the first few letters and have your browser fill in the rest, I wanted it to be easy to remember. www.grandmasteringtheladder.com, just didn´t fullfil any of those criteria. So I thought back to my roots, to carefully chose the words that could potentially make or break this entire venture on a random whim. When I was almost involuntarily started competing. It´s regular ordinary swedish story time! Back when I was primarily known as Beef-On-A-Stick, playing (while also climbing the ladder) for fun more than anything else there was this amazing group of people on the US.East servers that I used to hang out with on vent every day. One year in particular, 2004-2005, I´m turned my clock back 6 hours to match EST. Pretty sure I actually spoke more english than I did swedish in school/around home combined. We formed a tight-knit little group who hung out on Skype, practiced Wc3, laughed and played Escape from Gay Heaven until our fingers bled. One of the guys who eventually joined the team that became Clan aKasha, was ThatTuaGuy, him and a few other people convinved me I should participate in an incup, apparently this Beef character blowing things up with completely random strategiest, often Glaive Throwers, had some skills. I needed a name to play on, without making it too complicated suddenly I was "ThatGlaiveGuy", no-name Swede. I got to the semis, I forget who I lost to but it was a good game vs someone who used to win a lot of those. Making me the top placing Swede on my first go. Hours later the Swedish team captain contacted me over IRC and before I knew it was on the squad and things quickly went on to offline competition after that. For a long time I tried to get people to still call me Beef. gosugamers and the other large swedish community, Gamingeye would have none of it though, I´d become the smurf, I was (That)GlaiveGuy and it was final. But I guess it´s a decent enough story behind a nickname. https://www.facebook.com/thatglaiveguy

![]() I remember you as well! <3 Still doing casting and interviews? I felt you had a lot of potential with more practice! We´ve both played and chatted! #swe.sc2 fighting Edit: Speaking of SjoW, I wrote a little bit about good ol´ Jeff when I randomly hit him as my first Grandmaster opponent last month, unfortunately in swedish. Such a great guy. + Show Spoiler + Alexander Böngrodden Angleby April 29 near Stockholm Mer goda nyheter i Grandmastering the Ladder, kamrater! 38Like · · Promote · Share What do you think Björn, worth translating? It did get a sick amount of likes for being blogged on just my own wall haha. This language thing is really kind of a puzzle. Obviously all content on my site will be readily available in english, but I´m not sure I want to give up writing in swedish alltogether, since it has such a completely (and in my opinion, more entertaining) voice. When my website goes live I might just add a "English/Swedish"-switch on the blog, with english being standard, and continue writing in both languages for many of my blog-followers who kinda tagged along for the journey when I announced I was going fulltime eSports. The blogs might differ just slightly in content, but the main difference will be in my personality. It´s a lot more relaxed, ironic and humoristic when I write in swedish and perhaps a little less formal/"professional", one might say, than my english. I´ve already written 30 or so pages of varying content (ideas for the show and site, more introduction stuff, upcoming blog posts etc.) , so I think I´ll be churning out enough content to run two blogs side-by-side.

Edit: Should probably put this above the giant wall of text :D "As token of my appreciation for all your love and support - and to give something of substance back to this amazing community - if anyone is interested in some free coaching, I´ll gladly set aside an hour here and there inbetween sessions. As for my coaching experience, it´s absolutely zilch in Starcraft 2, but I used to do regular coaching in Wc3 so I figure I wouldn´t be the worst coach in the world. I´ve been told I´m fairly pedagogic, no league restrictions. Comment/PM if you´re interested ![]() _____________________________ The site is nearing completion, all the functionalities have been coded. Now it just needs some (probably a lot of) prettying up. The current "At least it looks like as website"-build looks something like this: + Show Spoiler + ![]() Unfortunately neither me nor my Uni mate, who´s doing the hard coding, are very good at the whole aesthetic design aspect of things. So now that most of the coding is done, we´re kinda lost :D Any spontaneous thoughts on the current layout? Feedback/critique? If someone with experience with graphics/design happens to read this comment, we would love to hear your thoughts, maybe someone would even be willing to help out with the finishing touches? Can´t offer much in terms of compensation other than my undying gratitude and promise of future compensation once this bird is off the ground. I´m also looking to do the same with my stream now that things are about to get serious, "pretty it up", that is. I did some searching and found some people who were offering to design stream overlays in the past. Haven´t heard back from anyone yet though so I thought I´d mention it. Maybe I get lucky ![]() Send me a PM here or try Skype/Email: alexander.itg@gmail.com if you´re feeling charitable and want to help out with the above ![]() _____________________________ Ah, and with business out of the way..! It´s been a blast having so many of you guys stopping by, checking on my progress and hanging out in the stream chat. It´s just that much more fun to keep grinding when you have a little back and forth going with the viewers. As I haven´t done any "marketing" yet, aside from this thread, most of my viewers are real life friends with little to no experience of competitive Starcraft. A few are in Bronze-Plat and so I´m trying to cover a lot of the basics for them while I´m streaming. Point being: There are no stupid questions - I thoroughly enjoy imparting what Terran wisdom I´ve gained thus far unto others. Now that the website is almost done I´m streaming 40 games a day again so I´ll be hard to miss ![]() Could this possibly be the season that I make GM? It´s starting to realistically feel within my grasp with continued relentless practice. Even my macro, though still in need of improvement, is feeling relatively solid! Down to roughly one major supply block per game. New season Day 1 results: + Show Spoiler + ![]() Only 1 loss so far that wasn´t a result of an all-in one way or the other, iirc. Suffered several really silly, even flat out laughable, losses toward the end of the day due to mental exhaustion, but everything is part of the training ![]() I´m having so much more fun grinding out and eliminating the flaws in my play now that I have some company, so keep the questions coming guys and enjoy the show! <3 _____________________________ Edit: Oh right, I didn´t want to bump the thread with "just" this announcement earlier, so I´ll carpe diem and point to this blog entry: http://www.teamliquid.net/blogs/viewblog.php?topic_id=415453
