Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the WCS America Challenger League! This tournament's forty contestants will compete for a variety of fabulous prizes, ranging from $100 to qualification in next season's Premier League! Now, let's meet our contestants!
In this on-going series, we'll try to have some short, light-hearted Q&A's with players you might not know much about otherwise. To start off, we introduce Xenocider and Neeb!
Xenocider
Please introduce yourself: Hello, I’m Xenocider, a 15 year old Chinese-American (born in USA). I have been playing computer games since the age of 10 starting with DotA which I started because I saw my brother playing at home. After SC2 came out I switched over and started to play Terran (also because my brother played T).
We assume he's the guy on the right.
Origin of ID: When I first started playing Starcraft I didn't have an account so I got one from my friend who portrait farmed a lot so he had like over 6-7k+ wins for every race. He would later give me this account and I renamed it to Ace (which was going to be my ID). That account would subsequently get banned* and my other friend gave me his account which was named Xenocider. It didn't have a name change so I have stuck with it for the past 2 years. I believe it's from Ender's Game and it means Alien Killer.
*Note: When Blizzard bans an account for Portrait farming, it's only banned for 2 weeks and the portraits aren't removed.
Describe your style in 25 words or fewer: Only cheese 8D
Most notable accomplishment/Proudest moment in SC2: I haven't done anything in SC2. In fact if somebody told me to describe how my SC2 career has been thus far, I'd probably say trash. Fortunately, I'm a motivated guy so I will work hard to accomplish things in the future.
Biggest strengths and weaknesses as a player? My biggest strength is being an alphamale and thus being able to assert my dominance on the playing field, often times leading to my opponent being unsure about his strategy (expanding/attacking/etc). My biggest weakness is probably my free throws; I really need to get back to the line and get up to at least 80%
What SC2 unit represents you best? Probably the marine or the hellbat, stim to win
One thing you would change about StarCraft II. I'd probably give hellbats blink since they lack the ability to win the game immediately.
Form a team with any other 5 players, not including those currently on your team: DeMusliM, Artosis, me, Grubby, and Tasteless. We could all wear nice suits to every event and brand ourselves as The Business Club or something. Source: http://studcraft2.appspot.com/players
Prospects on first match against MajOr: I'm not afraid but he plays mech and there's no one on NA that does that besides MaSa so we'll have to see. I believe if they go into macro games I will win 2-0
Winners of Season 1 of NA, EU, KR? HerO WCS NA assuming he doesn't choke massively LucifroN WCS EU assuming he doesn't choke massively InnovatioN KR for sure Gods don't choke
Favorite player? Probably DeMusliM, he's very handsome and makes me question my sexuality
Favorite food: rice & nerd tears
Flash or Jaedong? i dunno they're both pretty unattractive, coin flip i guess
Cats or dogs? well in china we eat cats so I guess....
Introduce yourself: Hi, I'm a Terran player from the USA (New York to be specific ^^). I'm currently 15 years old and I'm on FXO's NA division. I'm a really competitive person, and have been a huge gamer my entire life, so I naturally play quite a bit. Before I got into Starcraft, I loved runescape (private servers are awesome) and played some League of Legends.
Artist's interpretation.
Origin of ID: Damn it, is that the next question? I got my current ID (Neeb) a while ago, when I was maybe 11 years old. My brother used to be a gamer like me, and my cousin played a lot too (but hes 4 years older than both of us haha). We did hang out a lot though. One time we were on Halo just betraying our teammates because we were cool like that and we called each other names when we would kill one another. Since we played lots of video games, we called each other names like noob, choob, scrub. Over time we came up with more silly names and I really liked the name Neeb that I came up with. I used that from then on, but changed it to N33bl3t eventually cause numbers in your name make you really cool (not really ). SC2 can't have numbers so I just called myself Neeb again.
Describe your style in 25 words or fewer: I try to be very aggressive, while not being dumb with it. I like to plan out my strategy and see it work well.
Most notable accomplishment/Proudest moment in SC2: I haven't competed and done too much in SC2 yet. I guess managing to qualify for shoutcraft america is my biggest accomplishment (along with qualifying for challenger league). The few days leading up to the end of the season was very tense and I got nervous even when I just queued for ladder games. I was relieved making it into Shoutcraft, especially because I saw all my ladder grinding pay off.
Biggest strengths and weaknesses as a player? I would say my biggest strength is motivation. I genuinely enjoy this game, playing it and watching it. I actually watched pro SC2 for half a year before even starting to play 1v1, and I still tune into big tournaments and player streams. All this tournament viewing really inspired me to try to compete and do well. For my weaknesses, I think I care about this game a lot which makes me get angry with myself when I lose or just play a sloppy game. I also used to have ladder anxiety and so I do occasionally have a hard time getting myself to play.
What SC2 unit represents you best? I think it would be the battlecruiser. They are very in-your-face kind of units and are intimidating just looking at them. Thats what kind of player I try to be.
One thing you would change about StarCraft II. I like the game overall with how games play out and how the races work. I would probably just modify hellbats a bit for balance reasons. I think the issue with them currently is that they survive forever when they are being healed by medivacs, and they do significantly better vs lings than vs anything else. I'd increase hellbat base health so they become stronger without medivacs, but decrease damage a lot, so they don't hard counter lings but fail against everything else. Also it's silly seeing 4 hellbats kill a spine crawler in a few seconds.
Form a team with any other 5 players, not including those currently on your team: ForGG, ByuN, DeMusliM, Mvp, and Kas because they are all awesome people and Terran players ^^.
Prospects on first match against HuK: Recently I have been struggling a lot in TvP. I'm trying to play more late game focused, and I'm definitely not so great at it yet. Most NA tosses are cheesy, so I got good at holding off allins/gimmicks and winning in the midgame, but that doesn't work against everyone. I also have no idea how well HuK has been doing recently, so I don't know how the match is going to play out.
Winners of Season 1 of AM, EU, KR? KR - INoVation, because I like his playstyle. EU - ForGG, because I've been a fan of his stream for a while. AM - Suppy, because I BELIEVE
Favorite player: I like ByuN the most because I learn so much by watching his stream, (hes the one that motivated me to play macro oriented tvp) and he is really funny ^^.
Favorite food: I don't have any specific favorite food, I just eat whatever.
Flash or Jaedong? Flash because he's a Terran bro
Cats or dogs? I own two dogs, so obviously dogs are my favorite. I love puppies!
.... But what is the square at the bottom of a VHS for? :D I always let my parents do all the work, like a good kid. How am I supposed to know what that is? :D

If you remove it, you can't tape over it I believe.
How come these guys are allowed to play? I thought there was an age limit, which is why HeroMarine couldn't play WCS EU? Or is it an ESL imposed age restriction?
(Not that they shouldn't play if they have the skill, just confused because I thought that 15yos weren't allowed to play, exceptions in Korea where they were already part of the GSL setup).

This is correct. (Though you could put a literal tape over the resulting hole to be able to record with it again.)

I am 15 and knew what VHS is. I used to watch VHS when I was younger all the time =/ I also know what floppy disks are, but I didn't know what the little square on the VHS does.
lol, bonus questions makin' me feel old. It's one thing to know what floppy disks are, its an entirely different matter when you actually used 5 1/4" disks (and coincidentally know their dimensions on the top of your head) on a daily basis. </commodore 64 nostalgia>

so you have to tape-over to tape-over?
Yeah. I think it was mainly used by wives who broke it of to prevent their husbands to record a football match over their wedding video
If you left the square on the tape (or taped over the whole left by the removed square) you could record over and over again without any hassle.
Also really good interviews. Always nice to get to know some of the up and comers. Keep up the good work.

I think it has smth. to do with the working laws in Germany, since underaged are not allowed to work past 22:00 or smth.. That´s why those two or Maru can compete, while Heromarine has to wait for 2,5 more months.
Neeb is just such a boss, I see him regularly in twitch chat-rooms, the guy is a natural troll btw :D
And Demuslim is really popular with these guys too. you guys just gotta tune in to his Stream and just watch his God-Mode, his mad mass Bio into Godlike-Micro into mass Macro into just being awesome.
Why are you all surprised that they don't know what is a floppy disk & VHS? They were already being eradicated in the late 1990/ early 2000 and these kids were barely round 2 years old :p
This was awesome. Glad NA players are getting some love (especiallly Xeno). I totally agree with him about Blink Hellbats. It's a travesty they don't have this ability. Also, your bonus questions make me feel really old because I can answer them without having to think about it or do research.
Great interviews! I had no idea they were both 15. I did not care, and still mostly don't care, about the NA scene what so ever, but seeing new players come in is always interesting to me. Neeb watched pro players for half a year before he even started playing 1v1. That's just awesome. GL to both of them!
Neeb needs to start showing up at NYC lans. And gogogo players 15 and under. And Xenocider is hilarious. and enders game is the sickest book on the planet.
Xeno pretty hilarious. I hope he does amazing not just because I want more NA players to cheer for, but because he is 1000% better interviewer than most current players.
Before USB, there was floppy disks, and floppy disk drives. Bigger than USB's, but had like 1 MB on each. Not terribly efficient. Nor reliable. Often the computer just wouldn't read it. And for some reason, my computer wasn't ever able to boot when the disk was in the drive.
Also, MONK, YOU JUST WENT ON WIKIPEDIA, AND TOOK THEIR FIRST PICTURE OF A FLOPPY! AND THE FIRST PICTURE ON GOOGLE IMAGES THAT HAD PICTURES OF THE SQUARE!
Don't know why I feel you should have looked further than you have to, but still...
hahahaha the bonus questions are so funny, great interviews and also suprisng that they both terran players are getting spotlight as compared to other races
loved these interviews! I'm really exciting about these up and coming kids in the NA scene. They have the infrastructure here that didn't exist when the older players were this young. They've got a ton of potential and I'll be cheering them on hard !
haha bonus questions are mean. Thanks alot for the Interviews.
And I certainly doesn't want to be 15 again. It is like the worst age you can be in Germany. Can't even play in EPS or WCS, or buy 50% of the games. On the other hand I was asked for my ID on a game for the age of 16 ... and the person got wide eyes and apologized deeply afterwards ... guessed me more then 10 years wrong.
On May 12 2013 21:32 sharkie wrote: how can a 15 year old not know what VHS are?
Did they spend 100% of their childhood in front of a pc or what?
If you think about it, a 15 year old was born in the late 90s which was when DVD was slowly starting to take over. Our memories of our first few years are always vague and shitty, so it's possible he doesn't really remember much about VHS if his family switched over early enough.
Haha Neeb I remeber him when he was diamond more then a year ago. He's come along way. I don't how he got so good so fast. Diamond to top 16 GM in about 1 year is really imppressive. N33bl3t fighting!!!
Xenocider is so trolly, while Neeb is very reasonable. I like how Xeno wanted to buff hellbats and Neeb wanted to nerf them lol. I enjoyed both interviews!

ahahahahahahaha what a retard, does he honestly think he can 2-0 major? This motherfucker's like the seventh best player on a kespa team (admittedly the worst but still). He's going to get fucking destroyed.
(I mean, not to sound like I'm trolling or something, but come the fuck on)
