WCS Europe: Na`Vi.BabyKnight tops group, EG.Stephano.RC comes in second while Grubby and NrSKrasS fall to wayside.
Detailed results from Live Report Thread by Yello. + Show Spoiler [Results] +
2012's Danish champion BabyKnight dashed the hopes of a double-advancement from fan favorites Grubby and Stephano, taking both of them down in turn as he topped the group. After using phoenix play to defeat Grubby, BabyKnight proceeded to deliver a one-two punch to Stephano, knocking him out with a late game deathball in game one followed by a blink-stalker all-in in game two.
The final match of the night saw Stephano face off against Grubby, who came in after a sterling PvT performance against KrasS in the losers match (KrasS did not look to be in his best shape). Both players showed their determination to reach the Ro16 on the first map, splitting Newkirk Precinct in two to play a marathon game. Unfortunately for Grubby he could not match the cost efficiency of Stephano's Swarm Host backed army and was forced to GG out. The second game was much shorter, with Stephano using a mutalisks backdoor while fending off Grubby's frontal attack to take a 2 - 0 win and a Ro16 spot.
WCS America: Scarlett and viOLet take Group B, Polt and Revival advance from Group C
Detailed results from Live Report Threads by NovermberstOrm and Prplppleatr (Group B | Group C). + Show Spoiler [Group B Results] + + Show Spoiler [Group C] +
After Suppy's upset earlier in the week, normalcy returned to WCS America as Korean destroyed groups with the Canadian Scarlett as the only exception. Group B saw the Zerg duo of viOlet and Scarlett take first and second, while the Korean duo of Polt and Revival were triumphant in Group C.
Players from the USA suffered yet again, as IdrA, Goswser, and State all fell to the Challenger League. While Goswser did well to defeat Revival in their first series, he was unable to repeat the feat in the return match and was eliminated. State also helped his country save face by eliminating the Korean Oz, but was unable to overcome Scarlett in the match for advancement.

babyknight played smart, stephano played dumb. made swarm hosts, never took position to pressure a base so babyk could just keep building towards his perfect 200/200. kept losing bases to zealot run bys and or dts. instead of building spines and spores on his creep and moving them over when he puts the base down, he was using the hatcheries own creep start them and then positioning them wrong, giving babyk 3 minute windows to remember to harras. used corrupters to fight collosus but suicided them every time, they just dont seem to fit the swarm host play style, especially not how he used them. stephano really didnt look like he understood how to play the style he was using. he should have used roach hydra or something he is more comfortable with.

Well for 30 minutes of game 1 he looked like he could beat Polt. Then he left, tried an all in game 2, failed, then lost 2 ZvZ games against Revival.

Poor Oz out of practice for 3 months since he was searching for a team. I'm sure hell be crushing again in a few months

BabyK, I don't even mind you messing up my liquibets.

Are you sure you are not describing the games that stephano won VS grubby ? I think I recall baby 2 base pushing early, killing the third into win-pushing. Well executed btw.

akalon wastes especially, baby knight was out on the map but he wasnt engaging. stephano couldnt/wouldnt, depending on how harsh you want to be, position his swarm hosts close enough to kill buildings. the difference vs grubby was that grubby wasnt preserving his army as well, he was losing templars and archons, and didnt add tempests etc. so i guess you can say babyknight played well or stephano played badly. but its not as simple as who attacked and who defended. grubby lost a lot of his gas units for no reason, so he couldnt get his perfect 200/200 army.

BabyK really suprised me. Didn't think he could beat Stephano.

It was like he gave up when he saw those Ravens flying around and that was it for the whole day.
