Hi, this is Liquipedia and you're reading our OP! We finally got our portal finished and we hope you'll find it useful.
Quick Overview
by salle
There are three major parts to this page and two minor ones. And starting with the minor ones: In the right part of the banner there are links to the main pages for the WCS tournaments, at the bottom of the page there are the navbox with all of the WCS links.
Upcoming Matches
Lists the 10 next matches that are scheduled. There's a count down timer below the date so you'll know how far before the match you want to see goes on air. There is also a stream link at the bottom. (Preview Article link is also going to end up here most likely) They are all colour coded, Red = America, Yellow = Europe, and Green = Korea.
Recent Results
This lists the 6 last groups or stage played in one day. They are also colour coded to make it easy to see at a glance. Also note the icons we use here and remember where they link to:
- Preview Article
- Live Report Thread - Interview
- Review Article - Vod(s) - For players dropping to Code A/Challenger
Standings
This lists the top 16 players on points (if more people are tied for a spot above 16th they'll be included.) Because the top 16 players are the ones that will be going to WCS Finals at BlizzCon.
So a big thanks to the people involved with this: shz, PhiLtheFisH, Kenjin`-, ChapatiyaqPTSM, Fusefuse and salle. We all hope you guys will try and help out making Liquipedia even more awesome and always up to date.
Anyhoo, this was our post. If you have a positive or negative response feel free to leave it in our comments section. And if you want to have coffee with us click on this link and it will take you to our IRC channel. But otherwise we hope that you guys had an amazing day. Bye bye ... *mwaaah*
Wow so sick, I'm actually gunna make this my go-to bookmark for Liquipedia, it's so nice and more often than not, it's WCS results that I'm looking for. Awesome job!
edit: Ah as I look it at it more closely, it's so fucking sweet!!!
Hm, I like the layout alright, but I always read brackets and things down on websites and not to the right. The future matches come from the left and to the right
The portal is awesome, and pretty glad there’s a point standing as well. I had been really nerdy and made my own pivot table with all kinds of data. Hopefully Liquipedia will cover my data fix and allow me to rejoin the human race some day
Great portal! One frustration though... is there a link to this portal on the actual Liquipedia page? I was trying to navigate to the page for a while before finally clicking on the jpeg image.. lol.

On the main page you click on the banner under the " welcome to liquipedia " image that says check out our new WCS portal.

You want to look at the spreadsheets we use? The first sheet is free, obviously.

Overall it has quite poor positions though. You should just under the events tab have "WCS" and then you go there, and there should be some more visible buttons to direct you to each indvidual region if you want.
Standings may need to be changed though. I do not think it is the top 16 globally that go to Blizzcon but the top 5 from each region +1 more from the hosting region.

Not that's for the seasons finals. Ranking is for blizzcon

No you're thinking of the Season finals, those are taken from the pools of players of the tournaments they are at. No where does it say they are picked based on the WCS points (in fact giving the spots based on WCS points would just inflate the point score of the top 5.33 players of each region. The points, as far as was announced, only count towards the large end of the year finals at blizzcon.

Ok then Blizzon will be 15 koreans plus maybe Naniwa.

Actually, probably not, Korean are currently leading in the ranking because they are further in the season than EU and AM, we are still playing ro32 in EU when they are playing ro16 so their players have currently more points. At the end of season 1 it should already be more distributed.
What could be added, but I have no clue how, would be maybe a table at the bottom with past, future or ongoing Tier 1 or Tier 2 non-WCS tournaments adding points to WCS.

Also 6 Korean's made it the to top 8 at Dreamhack Stockholm, which is also boosting their scores a little.
As often, some of the best work are praised less since they aren't flashy, nor controversial. But honestly, Liquipedia is and will be one of the absolute best contribution to the whole scene forever and ever. This sweet feature is "just" another uber cool icing on the cake. All the WCS casters should be here to thank you, exactly as they should have during the monster-qualifier brackets!
it's funny that on this particular thread, the sidebar advertisement i'm getting from TL is about coins. i think TL is suggesting something to me in regards to this new WCS portal.
and none of them is terran. Why is there no successful foreigner terran? Guess this comes from balancing the races on the absolute top of korean players- which is fine, but also shows that below that terrans cannot compete with other races.

Strelok, Lucifron, Kas, Happy, Thorzain... All hovering on 200 points not far behind tbh.
At this VERY early stage, let's wait a while and see what happens IMO.
This portal really gives you a sense of the continuous central competition that WCS has now become and how good this could be for starcraft (despite early mistakes). Awesome job!
Up until now I've found it hard to follow the new WCG, especially catching the live streams at the right time. My only wish right now is that you do some work on how the portal displays on smartphones.

Wrong WC_ shortcut. WCG != WCS. WCG has history, WCS has money and influence.
I admit I like the WCS Portal a lot. I'd gladly switch one of the direct links in LP sidebar to WCS Portal...

We are actually in the process of redoing our mobile skin. Expect it Soon™

Big link on the Liquipedia 2 Main Page. TL will get link to it too, soon enough I guess.
