For the longest time in WoL Zerg had to be ahead in economy, and I think hellbats / mines make heavily upgraded zerglings far less efficient + the infestor nerfs, resulting in Zerg having to be ahead in economy again. Soulkey (at least in his macro games; Game 7 of , ), scouts heavily and plays ridiculously fucking greedy in response to Terran greed. In this game, Soulkey scouts cc first and grabs an extremely early third, then upon scouting the third cc (note that Soulkey also researches overlord speed before lair and cancels overlord speed upon scouting the third command center) takes his fourth base at 9:00. Soulkey then trades inefficiently while constantly counter attacking, but he can afford it because he's on a 4 base 80 drone economy. Although eventually SoulKey ends up losing this game due to an overcommitment to killing Innovation's third, I think a simple dual pronged baneling runby as he had been doing would have been sufficient to secure his lead. However, even if he delayed his ultra tech even further (possibly even in favor of some static defense), or with better creep spread / map vision, or even just on a less drop happy map, I think Soulkey wins this game anyway. It's definitely a style that seems capable of taking on the current metagame of greedy Terran builds. | ||
