Even in the best circumstances, with lots of background info on each player, it's still extremely difficult to predict how it will play out. The little bit of introduction that commentators do before each match is plenty. It doesn't belong on an analysis show. And as for judging players' skill against each other, why waste time doing that when they're just about to play a match in order to determine who is better. That's the worst time to do it. Don't sink time into predicting what players will do when there already isn't enough time to analyze everything that players have actually done. Well, it was always my favorite part of SotG. I love hearing extremely high level players predict matches.

There's no reason to say something vague like "I think the way Parting plays PvT will counter the way Flash plays TvP" because the result of the match isn't a good test of that assertion. And who cares about that assertion anyway? What we really care about is the way Parting is playing PvT and the way Flash is playing TvP. There's no need to make predictions about which players will beat which players when the discussions can be directly about which strategies are strong against which strategies. The mistake you make here is that you are comparing what generally happens to what actually happens. A full two hour show could be done on predictions for the upcoming Ultimate Group of Ultimate Death covering things like how HotS affects PartinG's immortal sentry, the potential Life vs Flash rematch, INnoVation's likely edge on Flash in TvT, etc. And then if you actually track the predictions in next week's show you have a better starting point for more discussion than just a general 'Wow this was a good play/bad mistake' that only recaps what happens. What we often get is pretty close to a waste of time with people just naming their favorites or the names they are familiar with and that's it, but still it can provide a little bit of story still. For example, everyone predicting Polt to win DreamHack because Terran is so OP.

I think artosis wants the show to be about the metagame, how the game work and what's unbalance, what's balanced and what race is doing well or bad, how should a player reacted in that situation, etc. Shows like SotG, Live on 3 and the GD studio. Can talk about groups of death or who will win which tournament, and the E-sport drama to be had. Meta should be just about the game not all this other crap about players or tournaments other shows already do that and you can watch those if you like that.
