Introducing LIVE FROM SOUTH of KOREA with Astro and Otter!
Come listen to two Aussies, each with a KR diamond (!) ranking to their names and one massive Bisu fangirl's worth of knowledge about the elusive Koreans casting Proleague live in our Raidcall server (ID 6004653), pretty much whenever Proleague is happening. By casting through Raidcall, you can keep the stream full screened and blissfully muted while listening to our dulcet tones! I will also update this OP whenever we are live!
+ Show Spoiler + Otter fresh from skinning a crocodile/hydralisk
+ Show Spoiler + Astro as a young girl being inspired by Bisu to magically age into a white male university student
To all of you Yanks too lazy to listen at 3 AM or whatever ghoulish time Proleague is broadcast in your backwater timezone then we will also be RECORDING THE SHOW!!! And presenting these recordings to you so that you may synchronize them with the VODs!
[UPDATED 4/20 LOL]Jump in the Raidcall (ID 6004653) this afternoon at 1pm AEST (fuck knows what time in the USA lol) and have your say in chat, we will also probably be moving to the lounge if there's small groups for discussion between games. OK KEWL CYA THEN
---
UPDATE, WE WILL BE CASTING EG-TL vs SKT CYA THERE
|
Can't be worse than SNM and whiplash. I'll try you out if Nathanias isn't casting.

This doesn't seem right, its blatant advertising and disrespectful.

Nothing can come close to SNM/Whiplash sorry. They exist in a world beyond your world.

I think I should thank SNM/Whiplash. It got me watching the korean stream which is much more fun and nostalgic. Their energy is so contagious.
|
While I don't think too highly of SNM and whiplash's casting, I just tend to mute the stream while I watch it haha. May be nice to actually listen to someone who understands the game a little bit better

Aside from the intent of the OP, the responses in this thread are just -_-
OT: it's a bit tempting to hear some casting done in Australian, though. I like their accent.

Whiplash & SNM are clearly better casters in my opinion.

(your sidekick calls even more wrong.) no offence. Not that i'm saying these guys will do any better.

I love how every person on TL has more knowledge than every caster out there. Both Whiplash and SNM are better than 99% of people on here.

It is funny for me, how everytime new casters emerge to cast korean leagues, there is hatred a often-blind criticism. In this case, at least no critics but effort to present and alternative. So I went ahead and tried... and got back to original casters. As I am not some kind of SC2 mastermind, I rather listen to clear and tend-to-professional casting then to mumbling of two random guys (sorry).

It is fine if you understand the game better, although you may not, it is possible for people in diamond to have an equal understanding of the meta just simply not be good enough to apply it. My beef with the casting is when it becomes frantic and you are trying to fit everything in, this goes for both you and SNM, your English falls apart. You guys stumble over your sentences and it becomes so chaotic I do not understand a word either of you are saying. I will keep watching you guys because you will eventually get the hang of it, but it makes my ears cringe when the stumbling begins.

too be honest im gonna check this out, i have no idea who the two of you are even tho ur from the same sc2 scene as me, but those two guys doing proleague right now are so bad at casting that i dont even watch proleague anymore. it makes me cringe everytime.... their masters league on Korea is not impressive for a good caster, its a requirement, even I have masters on Korea and i play there with 200 ping. maybe they understand their races matchups, maybe they can even analyse a couple other MU's, but i dont understand how this SNM guy got such a prestigious commentating gig when he cant even talk properly!! (not a racist comment about his accent, the guy literally doesn't speak very well)

Being British I am going to have to check out the Australian casting here.

Also it is very awkward to listen to casters with 0 chemistry, no sense of humour and constantly calling units/players by the wrong name. It takes away from the viewing experience.

as an australian it's always hard to understand american or english. i just wish more people spoke australian. thanks for this opportunity gaiz

If the calls weren't so bad then just maybe it could be watchable. People think they are X rank on ladder makes them think that they understand every races perspective/matchup. No offense but you guys need a ton of casting experience before these bad "calls" become less frequent. Until then its like listening to nails on a chalkboard. Good luck to you both.

All of that is greatly exaggerated.

I used to dislike SNM and Whiplash a lot in the early days of their PL casting, but nowadays I think they are donig an okay job. There is still a lot of progress to be made, but I have hope. At least their dynamic is miles ahead than it was.

Hi guys we'll be back on this afternoon to do EG-TL vs SKT, kicking off in half an hour but we'll be hanging out in the Raidcall soon

Starting right now! hope you enjoy it =)

Thank god advertising your stream in a post on TL is something you are supposed to do then, eh? Advertising some other product or service that is not related to TL would be a bad thing... but this is fine.

Whiplash, nobody is doubting y'alls mechanical skill and ability to play, but SNM and you (although honestly SNM mainly) make way too many wrong calls. I don't know if y'all ever looked at those criticism threads before they became too filled with trolls, but there was a lot of good advice there that has been ignored.
Especially the incessant arguing, which is moreso done by SNM than you but it really, really detracts from the cast. Work together, not against each other.
|
This thread has devolved back into another, "whiplash and SNM (especially SNM) sux, bro" threads. I can't tell if OP is a troll or not, but the incessant bashing of people who are obviously getting better needs to end.

agreed. its like the community doesnt ever want new casters to develop and break through, they just want to listen to the same 6 casters for the rest of SC2s lifetime..

Just to clarify we are casting the games in Raidcall mostly just to get some casting practice, and for anyone that wants to listen . Saw Catz doing it on his stream and thought it would be a cool idea, especially since Proleague is on at such a convenient time for us.
|
Besides the occasional talking over each other, I've found this commentary really enjoyable! Way better in terms of listenability than the official cast.
|
Thats all we can do today unfortunately, we may be casting the rest of the games from vods later on today/tomorrow but I will have to confirm with Otter on that one. Thanks for listening, and again any feedback is welcome as this is only the second time we have cast at all really, and today was marred with quite a few technical issue, unfortunately =( Thanks all!

I have no problem at all with new casters coming along if they are actually good to listen to, but those two have had enough of a chance and still are boring and annoying. I don't see why I should be pressured into supporting people who clearly aren't very good at what they do just in the interest of some sort of political correctness. If a player isn't good at playing a sport they need to get kicked off a team, and I think it's the same way with casters. If you can't pronounce words clearly there are much more suitable jobs out there.
