Hot6ix, 2013 SC2 sponsors create the new tournament "Hot6ix Cup"
On March 7th, 2013, the sponsors of GomTV's GSL tournament announced a new partnership involving a tournament with progamers playing in the Hot6ix Cup.
The Hot6ix Cup will be held for one week in the December of this year, involving the winners and runner-ups of the 2013 GSL season, totaling 8 people.
GomTV's Hot6ix Cup opened up a new website recently, and passed on the news to other e-sports news reporters.
Woo Joo-Yang of GomTV's media section said, "We are pleased to announce the Hot6ix Cup in partnership with Hot6ix during 2013 to conclude the year of StarCraft. Hot6ix continues to be generous with their sponsorship to the domestic scene, and displays a commitment to teams and players to provide a meaningful end to the year as a StarCraft II 2013 Tour year-end award ceremony. We are asking the Hot6ix Cup receive a lot of attention and generous support", he said.
Information on the Hot6ix Cup can be found on the official blog (http://gsl.gomtv.com/), the GSL blog, (http://enjoygsl.blog.me/), and the Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/GOGSL).

Sounds very cool! Will tune in for sure

I think we have plenty of time to prepare for this...

So the 6 other finalist from the 3 other GSLs this year. I dont like the idea of someone getting a seed to a big tournament for doing well 10 months prior on a different game (looking at your RorO and Symbol)

dis is loooking goood!! i will tune in

I think it would be kind of cool to bump it up to maybe like a 16 man tournament since they eliminated season 5 and have more time. Maybe do the 4 champions and runners up + top 8 in points not included in those. 8 man seems a little small with more time at the end of the year
|
They should add auto seeds for Mvp for good measure

Sixteen people just feels right as a conclusion to 2013, and I think your idea works quite well.

I wonder how the Hot6ix Cup connects to the WCS system, though I suppose it is a purely GSL based tournament. So this will function as the concluding tournament for GSL purely, while WCS is done for the whole tournament scene globally.

Gom would have known about this announcement already so I doubt anything will change

Hey, what happens if somebody wins or is runner up in two GSLs (cough Mvp cough)? I assume it's determined by GSL points?

Probably. That's how they added in players for the Blizzard Cup before when someone qualified more than once.

I am going to go all necromancer with thtis one ,since its been a while with no new information. Anyone knows what about this tournament? we are closer to december now
|
I'll update the OP with new info like prize pool allocation and current player list.

cool cool cool.
I think it would be cooler if they made some weekend tourney instead. There they could also give out WCS points.

It's quite obvious the awards will be best terran Innovation best zerg soulkey best protoss rain best rookie maru
now that the semi finals for the current GSL are done, the two remaining players has been decided.
With only 8 players this grand slam feels a bit small compared to the previous years where there was 10

If Dear wins this GSL, Rain is getting his 2nd silver
Maru is the least rookie of them all
Best rookie will be something like First?

Feel like Bomber's gotta be one of the seeds with his Season 2 championships, guess that depends on who the champion and runner-up are this season as there could be overlap with Maru and SoulKey

Yeah I guess, I was more going by 'professional career' rookie, rather than Code S rookie. As it said Dear has been around for a few years or something in the promo.

Wow no kidding, I clicked it expecting some names like MKP, DRG & Parting but this was even back when NesTea was in GSL (and Mvp) - but what really dates it is NaDa and July!!, and to a lesser extend Zenio & Jjiakji :o

So I guess Dear will probably be the favorite going into this too unless something changes at Blizzcon. Imagine if he won Season 3 WCS KR, Season 3, Blizzcon, and this tournament
