The premiere of DreamHack Open 2013 is only one month away, but the tournament registration is already full. Today we're proud to announce the first batch of players ready for DreamHack Open Stockholm 26-27 April that have confirmed their participation in full.
DreamHack and the head sponsors EIZO, Logitech G and Kingston HyperX are very proud to present the first competitors for DreamHack Open Stockholm 26-27 April. It's the return of past DreamHack Champions, Evil Geniuses ThorZaIN (DreamHack Open Stockholm), Mousesports MaNa (DreamHack Open Summer), Team Acer Nerchio (DreamHack Open Bucharest) and Grand Final and 2012 Champion Team Liquid HerO (DreamHack Open Winter). Also the DreamHack Stockholm Invitational (2011) Champion SK-Gaming MC returns to DreamHack competition for the first time since 2011.
DreamHack are thrilled to welcome the legendary Jaedong from Evil Geniuses to play in Sweden for the first time and also make his StarCraft II debut in Europe at DreamHack Open Stockholm. Find the full list of competitors below, more competitors will be announced in a second batch in the upcoming weeks.
Last week, DreamHack presented the star-studded caster line-up including Apollo, Artosis, iNcontroL, TaKe and Adebisi that will be covering the event live on-site. Spectator tickets is still available at www.ticnet.se but in limited amount. The event will be open from 11.00 to 24.00 each day, with the Final 8 show during Saturday afternoon/ evening (exact stage schedule TBA).
If you're a competitor, you can still sign-up for the Waiting/Reserve list. Follow the instruction on this sign-up page.
More Code S Koreans and Kespa players but i guess neither will happen with GSL starting soon and the same with Proleague unless they will have a break at the same time as this tournament is (which could be true since the good players on EG-TL will be on this event).

why are you keeping coins in your couch XD? Hopefully the ticket won't be that expensive and I would go but have no money and it's far away from where I live TT
Hero, MC and the Dong himself? Cast by Artosis, Apollo and Incontrol?
Could there be more star-power? Also good to see Adebisi. \o/
Dreamhack has always been awesome and this one could be the best yet. If Incontrol gets the honour of casting alongside the legendary Artosis, my hype- and entertainment-levels might explode.

ADVENTURE TIMEEEEE~!!
not only in your signature, but because I think Artosis and Incontrol would create a very analytical, very high-end cast. They're both intelligent enough that even if one takes the role of commentator instead of super-knowledgeable ex-pro it will still be funn of incredibly accurate presumptions and conversation.

I doubt Kespa will be participating in foreign events for the most part, MLG has a partnership which is the only reason why they send a few players over there
I'm so stoked for this tournament! I love all the major tournaments but I think dreamhack has become my favorite over the last year. I just hope its on at a reasonable enough time for me to watch from the US!

He probably wants to save his wrists a bit I assume, Liquid usually sends 2 koreans (Taeja and HerO) to DH; Zenio now being there could mean, that Taeja stays in Korea.

TaeJa is also in Code S and that will start pretty soon as well, focusing on that makes sense. Overall sick line-up so far, top players but lots of potential for upsets as well.

Only two players with chances to play in PL are at DH, I'd say. Apart from Jaedong and HerO I don't think anyone else would be fielded on a normal day of Proleague.
I don't see any surprises here tbh. Let's look at what we have usually at Dream Hack events: Team Liquid players, EG players and the elite of europe. If you look at the announced players, you can sort in everyone in one of these 3 cathegories. The only one not fitting is MC. And MC attending a foreign tournament is neither a huge deal. :o
I was hoping to have some surprises this time around. meh -_-
I suddenly got the urge to get my ass down to the capitol.

Don't think so, but I'd expect some more pickups soon.
JYP, Revival, Taeja and HuK left in Korea by then, if HuK stays there which I assume.
Probably at least a Terran. The question is who could it be. Alive is the only free agent we know at the moment, and it's possible, but to be honest, with how he has looked in the GSL lately, I can't see him as an answer to EGTL's troubles.
Really odd to see Flo competing, I mean really really odd. Not trying to disrespect her as a person, but she had been an underwhelming WOL player. I guess Need for Seat really wants to push their new line up of chairs.
Artosis casting? Me gusta. I like the competitor line-ups so many good players, and also female players being featured too :D. I hope Flo can make it into the deeper rounds. GL on the EG and TL players, hopefully HerO, Zenio, JD, TLO, Ret, or Snute wins the whole thing! :D
Looks like it'll be the Dreamhack regulars (HerO + the best of Europe) joined by a couple great Korean players including the Dong. Extremely excited for this, hoping for HerO's third title!
Also nice to see Zenio in a foreign tournament again :D

I believe you'll be surprised, she's been working hard in HotS so far, and I have faith that she'll be showing how far she's come. Don't count her out, she's got a lot of potential.
On March 28 2013 18:28 justinpal wrote: MC gonna win it from that list. We'll see if Life or Flash come on over.
MC won only DH Stockholm 2011. HerO won Winter Championships twice. I believe HerO should proof that DH is his kingdom by winning it third time (fifth title for TL)

No, he's actually one of the best casters out there. I know it's hype to spit on him, but get to his level of entertainment and analysis before you rant bullshit.

I don't know about hype to spit, but he is not entertaining to hear. He is more like a buddy watching stream with you than a caster which is not something I expect to hear from a caster. Of course he has better insight to the game than i.e. Wheat, but it's not something you can't get from i.e. Apollo.
The last argument is obviously stupid. You don't have to do something in order to be eligible to have an opinion.

Dude dont be so agressive, its just the matter of taste. I dont like his casting either.
I really like the Dreamhack as it shows the talent within Europe and some of the cash grabbing Korean jet setters. I like Incontrol but I think his muscle packed body is distracting especially with his ill tight fitting clothing.
Took me a ridiculous amount of time to find the link to the players... guess it was too easy to see. Oh well.
Hope they add a few more top Koreans to the roster, because I'm not too impressed at the momemt. Seeing MC and Jaedong stomp foreigners would probably be fun for a while, but would like some great, even matches too.

MC and HerO would be my biggest concerns as a foreigner. Jaedongs PL/GSL results do indicate that he is only the second best EG-Zerg and Stephano is´nt untouchable anymore as well (for Euros ofc., he never was for koreans).
I haven´t seen JD play Hots yet, so I can´t really comment on his shape in this game and he is obviously talented enough in the RTS-Genre to win the whole thing. But I would´nt be that surprised, if he gets knocked out before the bracket stages.
Will be a really good tournament. Not my favorite line-up, but its good to have not so many koreans. More chances for the foreigners and the swedish guys like thorzain!

ATM its free money for either MC/JD/Hero/(maybe a ultra on the ball Stephano with many mistakes from opponents). With the GSL Code S starting soon and the amount of matches, the reference for high lvl HotS gameplay will be set. I think the timing of Dreamhack is unfortunate, with the last group of Code S playing on the 23rd.

Playerlist is getting sicker by the day.... Cant way for the announcement of the second batch, i assume Naniwa/Vortix/Lucifron etc will be there as well and maybe another cute surprise... (MVP/IM players)?

Could be better than MLG now.
Most of the TL community predicted more top-tier Koreans to come due to the new format I believe. Luckily this time it came true, because DreamHack tended to be a bit Korean-starved beyond the Liquid players and a few handful.

Isn't it just the simple fact that Dreamhack is basically the only open tournament left and teams now have some budget left to send players to DH?
I mean where you going to send players to otherwise? MLG has no open spots anymore, IPL is gone and IEM season wont start until August?
Group stage will be a total bore just like the first round of MLG was-- simply Koreans beating down foreigners. But if players like Jaedong, forGG, MC, Gumiho, Leenock can get to the Round of 8 without eliminating each other the later rounds will be insanely epic.

What? Jaedong will show off in the DH? That will be great. It's really a good thing to join the international team like EG for him, cuz there are not that many teams that may let their player go to games outside Korea which is not benefit to the team in any way. Hope to see him, soon!
MC is gonna own it up methinks, although I would love to see Jaedong come in and just X-0 the whole tourney, also HerO FIGHTING!!!!!!! Can't wait to see who else is coming though.
