Diablo I (people were making up rumors for the Cow level in D1 since you can click a cow in D1, then they actually added it in D2).

I mean, of course most people won't know about the D1 Cow (in SC2 chat rooms). D1 Cow originated at the time when everyone liked to make up myths around games back in the day ("if you clicked the D1 cow 50 times, it will open the Secret Cow level!" and "if you find a phoenix down in the BW campaign, you can revive Tassadar!!1" and "Mega Man X can use the Hadoken if you die 5 times and get a Capsule in some level!" oh wait that last one was actually true). I bet if you asked this on DIII.net (now D3incgamers or something), everyone will immediately know. It's well known in the Diablo community, this is the SC community, so it's understandable if people don't know.
So yeah, cow level is EZ stuff (anyone who doesn't know about it, no worries). I mean, my friend (who played the original WC1, WC2, D1, D2, and basically every Blizzard game minus WoW) doesn't know that the cow level originated because of rumors to the D1 cow (he never visits internet forums, reads wiki, or anything, he just plays the game and goes with the flow, so it's understandable).
Now if anyone were a real hipster nerd, how did the cheat code "Operation CWAL" for StarCraft 1 originate?

This chat room was in the original WOL version of starcraft 2 as well just had to click multiple times right under where it said starcraft like when you were waiting for a match. <cheers though> MOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

Feel free to regale me with what makes this the "HotS" cow level and not just the same chat channel as before. "Since launch" may have been wrong as chat channels weren't with ship, but this has been around since then. It's not new.

He's not saying the cow level is new, he's saying the cow level also happens to exist in Hots which is something some people, my self included, didn't know. Everyone and their grandmother is aware of the channels existence in WoL, this thread is about it being in the new game.
The thread is even titled "The Cow Level Lives in HoTs"

This isn't particularly special — they just moved the method to get there because of the GUI change — it makes sense.
Technically the GUI change happened before HotS was even released, and the same method would be used for people without HotS now too, so it's hardly even HotS-related.

Its cool they put it in at all but it would have been cooler if in the campaign or it took you to a small map with a bunch of cows from D2 that you can kill maybe a base with unlimited minerals or a short simple TD kind of thing.

Didn't they have this in another one of their games? I thought I remember doing something similar in WoL and getting this, not sure if my memory is deceiving me or not.
