I made a Mvp highlights and tribute video as he dropped out of GSL for the first time in his career in the last season of Wings of Liberty which pretty much marked the end of his dominance (at least in WoL).
For anyone interested, here it is.

I'm also thinking about doing a Foxer Open Season 2 highlight video and doing more of these, it's fun. You can message me with any suggestions.

I would really really really like to watch it but unfortunately I cannot access it due to GEMA here in Germany. Can you maybe upload it somewhere else as well (vimeo, dailymotion, etc)? I would really appreciate it

If I was going to make a video about Mvp I would have included clips from all 8 of his premier tournament wins, with reactions at the end, still a good video though.

Mvp I love you... Please come back. Please... (╯T□T)╯︵ ┻━┻

For all his undeniable strengths, Life still hasn't come close to the same dominance or consistency. Nor has anyone else. At the very least, he will go down in history as the best player in Wings of Liberty.

It's absurd. Mvp was so good he has been in every single GSL / WC / Blizzard Cup since qualifying for Open Season 2. And while I get that this is for the most part the idea behind your video, I would've loved it even more if it included some of his overseas wins. Anyway, nice compilation.

I just wonder if Day9 is still planning on doing a launch party for Heart of the Swarm.

I know he mentioned it a few times a long time ago... maybe a year ago when I used to watch him regularly.

No doubt one of the most dominant WoL players ever. Nice song choice. Some improvements such as removing your mouse cursor and looking for the highest quality vods would help.

Thanks! But don't worry, the king will return to his throne

I thought the best part about the video was watching his progression of reactions from his first gsl win to his fourth haha.

Well, I tried to make the best out of what I've got, didn't find any higher quality ones for most of them as I don't have GOM passes for all those seasons, it's costs tons of $$$ to buy those.

I'll try my best to do those! Just don't have those old GOM passes so... it's kind of hard sometimes. If someone helps me out a bit with the scenes I should get in there, I'll definitely get on it.

As good as 2011 King MVP? Probably not but he can still always be a championship contender, once a champ always a champ (See lost saga MSL nada for my point).

The most dominant one actually, with MC and NesTea coming behind.

If Like keeps winning and gets this GSL, he will be up there as a top 4 most dominant WoL player

The GEMA can't block videos. They need to provide the rights to everyone who pays and can't decline afaik. Youtube blocks them cause they want to share a certain percentage of ad revenue while GEMA wants to be paid for each view instead...

Its so sad when your guy just can't make it anymore. Heartbreaking really. (Not saying that Mvp can't come back though.)

You gotta agree there's a lot of symbolism in Mvp finaly going out just before we finish Wing of Liberty.
I really wish he can come back, but even if he can't, he's going to be remembered forever in the history of Starcraft. He is the first and only King of Wings.

I heard it was a wrist injury and that he decided he retire if he got the surgery needed to really sort it out. This is definitely a sad end to the greatest WOL player. It makes you wonder though if HOTS will give us another player who can dominate the scene like MVP did.

Probably should check your hearing, been stated many times that it's not his wrists it's his neck/shoulder-plate or something like that, can't remember what it is called exactly.

Yeah, anyone who claims Life would be close to the title king of wings is fucking retarded. Life started to get results in 2012. Meanwhile MVP was dominant for over a year and has 8 Premier tournament wins, 2 silvers, in total he placed highly in 15. The only player close to that kind of track record is MMA with 5 Premier wins.

Some players have dominated in certain time periods (MMA, Taeja, Life, HerO kind of), and other players have been consistently god tier (NesTea, Stephano, MC, etc), but no player is like Mvp. A guy who all throughout 2011 and 2012 constantly displayed why he is one of the best players on earth. Always being a favorite at ANY tournament he entered. 4 time GSL champion with 6 GSL finals appearances total. MLG title, IEM title, several other major LAN victories. If anyone deserves the title of "King of Wings" it is hands down Mvp.

Awesome video with an absolutely superb song. Liked, and favorited on youtube. And as someone earlier suggested, post it up on the IM FB fanpage.

this. A man that could take a title ANYTIME,a man who was doubted so many times. The man who was the last obstacle for potential royal roaders(squirtle, life). He will forever be the king of wings

I agree with what you're saying, but I'm not really sure how you find Stephano to be more "god tier: than MMA. this past year has been absolutely terrible for him, but his achievemnts before that are much greater than stephano's.

Guess that means he'll win IEM. It's how he rolls.

I dunno. I feel that what it taeks to be a bonjwa is a relative standard, and not absolute.

In this regard, if there is anyone that can be called a bonjwa in WoL, it is Mvp.

I know Mvp will never see this, but thanks for being my favourite SC2 player for so long! Whether he comes back or not, he's already given the game so many awesome moments.

It's called "man-tears"

Very nice video although I would prefer that the scene where he kisses the cup be placed at the end. I am not sure if MVP can be called a bonjwa but no one can deny that he dominated for a long time. I think it will be hard for him to come back fully, injuries like that does not heal in a short time. If he does dominate again, I would be really surprised.

Was never a fan of MVP, and I rooted hard against him against Squirtle, but this is a really really good video and sendoff for the best Wings player. I wonder if he'll at least attempt a comeback in HOTS and if that doesn't go well maybe he gets the surgery he desperately needs?

It's sad, but he would be better off not ruining his health completely just so he can continue to play, it's really unfortunate that it had to end like this for him. We will never know what greatness he could have achieved if he was at full health. All that being said, as a big fan of his, i definitely hope he doesn't give up on sc2 progaming completely

A large amount of man tears were shed.

The MVP-Squirtle series was probably my favorite series I've ever witnessed.

I hope only the best for MVP, whether it be for him to stay on and play or to retire and fix his body.

Fitting music choice for the end of WoL considering that the beginning started with the same band

i was driving down the road this november eve and spotted a hitchhiker walking down the street. i pulled over and saw that it was only a tree. i uprooted it and put it in my trunk. do trees like marshmallow peeps? cause that's all i have and will have.

sick clip, including raven and ghost, which are MVP's trademark style. He fucked over the entire race just because he's so damn good.

I used to root for MMA and MKP against MVP, but he started to slowly grew some respect in me. Now I'm definitely his hardcore fan

MVP doesn't have to do anything from here to go down as being one of the greatest players. If he doesn't make much of a splash in HotS so be it. Nothing will take away from what he's done the past 2+ years.

Well, seeing that SC2 is a much more volitile scene with many more tournaments all the time than BW had, Mvp is as close to a proper bonjwa we'll ever get.

You probably already know but:

He won 2 GSLs, GSL WC, Blizzcon, WCG and and MLG in 2011 and got top 4 in additional four the same year, and then had a bit of a slump (only winning IEM, one GSL finals and taking Life to game 7 in another, really horrible results) in 2012.

I think that's impressive. I think he will be remembered as a bonjwa a few years from now. Put me in jail too!

Who cares MVP is fucking rich and loaded anyway.

It was expected to see MVP dominate in WOL anyway because he was the strongest elephant in his time. It wasn't some sort of Fruitdealer royal road story.

This topic proves people do care ? Don't be silly and bitter.

Also no one knew MVP would dominate or not, Sc2 was utterly new and no one know exactly what to expect from any player.

OT:

If he ever gets healed up properly i see him returning to his dominance in no time, the man is simply highly intelligent and a great tactician with a feeling for the game.

He had exploding wrists and was still the best of the best, despite having a spine that bent the wrong way, occasional paralysis and having to throw out meticulously planned strategies because his body literally couldn't handle it. That's much more impressive than the Royal Road.

Doesn't anyone find it ironic that MVP drops out right at the end of a major tournament for WOL? To me it means that he is surely the best player in WOL and that since HOTS is coming out and taking over, Mvp is going out as well. I feel that he is one with the game in such that an end to WOL also contributed to an end of an era for Mvp.

My analysis of this

Good points of the video:
+ the effort put into it;
+ the good intentions behind it;
+ the ending fits well;
+ it's the only video tribute for Mvp.

Negative points:
- too much time spent showing plays (and a long time per play), and not enough focus on the player. Compare that to the video made by Hotbid for FruitDealer, where there's clearly a focus on his path to victory showing the "WIN" screen, and his reactions. Showing many players being defeated by him, and then showing him playing, but from many games, and short time. [1] Watching OP video it's much more unclear that he even won 4 GSL's, MLG, etc and all the victories it took him to get there.
- choice of music and its relation to the video. I can understand the music gives out a kind of a nostalgic sad feeling but that's about it the only good thing about it. It doesn't fit frame changes, or highlights of the video itself. Or better, the video doesn't fit the music, since you can almost always make a video fit any music. Because of this, the music feels very disconnected from the video. I actually muted the video and put another music and it came out better.
- Post-production: none. Just videos glued one after another, no transitions, no effects.

I thanks the OP for the effort, because i know it still takes some to make a video like this, and it's the only one we got so far, but still we could have something much better.

Good video. Lots of good highlights and good memories. Mvp is such an interesting player to watch. He has so many builds, including a variety of cheesy builds. I also like to watch him during group selections because he almost always seemed to obtain a favorable group. It was disappointing to see him drop out so early in the final WOL GSL, but hopefully he can heal up his wrists and make a strong comeback.

*That Cool (Fruitdealer) highlight video is one of my favorites, brings back great memories from that GSL.

Yes, the fruitdealer one video is really professional done. At the start it shows zerg losing everything, terran dominating, and fruitdealer comes from nowhere bringing hope. Emotional...

But the Mvp's video is good too.

From NesTea's inteview

Mvp fell to Code B after grabbing the NesTea award. The NesTea award must have some kind of curse.

If you think about it, I stayed another season before falling out. I don't think it's a jinx (laughs). Mvp's health was in bad condition and we have HotS coming up soon so I can't help but feel that Mvp fell out on purpose so that he could take a break.
