We would like to announce that our broadcasts will be available on TwitchTV for 2013 GSL Season 1!
We apologize for the delay of this announcement and realize that this is big news to come out right before the first broadcast of Code S. Much coordinating and planning was needed to ensure that the broadcast would be problem-free for all fans of GSL.
The tickets that will available on TwitchTV will be of the “Light Ticket” grade quality. This ticket will give you a 540p stream quality as well as full access to the VODs for the season (on TwitchTV) that you have purchased. “EHQ” Live Stream and VOD’s will only be available on our website.
Please keep in mind that TwitchTV tickets and www.GOMTV.net tickets are separate entities and buying a ticket on one site will not give you access to its contents on the other.
Alright, from what I can tell, the Twitch Stream seems to be better. And the Gomtv.net stream is lagging, so it looks like the Twitch stream will be the better option.
To be honest I preferred the old Gom player, I rarely had problems with it. And Twitch likes to lag on me. Still the stream Gom has on their website right now seems really bad, so I'm okay with Twitch I suppose.
I already paid for the full year back in december. People who paid already should really be given a code so they can watch on twitch too at 540p. Though, I guess if they sent me a code, how would they prevent me from sending that to a friend so I double dipped, so I guess that's why they made them separate.

More like the fact that twicth support only one price for their paywall.
It is unwatchable for me on the GOM site.. (keeps buffering) even the free 'SQ' - currently watching the free stream on twitch and it is blurry as... i've paid for the yearly ticket already.. so not going to pay again to watch 540p on twitch... why can they not make it available for yearly subscribers?????
I had different tech problems with different versions of gom player, on different machines On the other hand, the new gom stream does not work properly either (due to the lag), yet somehow I am foolish enough to buy tickets.

I agree so much with this.
The quality of the stream on the GOMTV website today was a disaster, forcing me to watch low quality on twitch instead of the EHQ I paid for. I should have acces to both so that I can watch the one that is failing less, seeing how Twitch has regular issues too.
I love this, I can watch Twitch at 360p compared to the 228p on Gomtv. It's less of a hassle and it works on my tablet, so this works out great for me.
Hm, they should at least fix the Gom-Stream for the people who already paid for it. If I knew this beforehand I would've paid for Twitch Stream instead of Gom.
Meh, had an awwwwwful stream viewing experience this morning on GOM. Pretty much unwatchable. I paid for light so I would love to watch than on twitch, but I guess the 360 free stream is better than none.
I'm glad when any organization chooses Twitch for live streaming, they are really the best organized, most supportive, and easiest to access venue that I've encountered since I got into all of this at the release of SC2.
Hopefully MLG also switches back, Own3D is just unwatchable for me.
Watching on my Apple TV, every morning over my bowl of cinnamon toast crunch, because its good for me. I might even wake up early. Need a system to watch Vods on my iphone so I can watch them on my Apple TV as well. Make it happen Gunrun.

There is totally a free stream on Twitch, I watched it this morning.
Is the free Twitch stream quality somewhat bearable at least? Their free LQ stream is unwatchable these days. I didn't think they could make their stream quality any worse than it was before, but somehow they had managed to pull it off. During big battles, I have absolutely no idea what the heck is going on. It's like starring at an abstract painting.

The free Twitch stream is boss in terms of quality.

The problem is probaly twitch. Gom would have to oragnize with twitch to be able to have their paid users be able to watch the 540p stream on twitch. Gom couldnt do it by their selves and would need twitches copertaion

We don't know for sure yet, but probably Twitch's slightly.
Free GomTv steam = 240p with ~300kbits max ...unwatchable. Twitch is always at least 360p.
Last night the free GomTv stream was standard quality, which definitely was better than 240p. I'm assuming that will continue. Granted, it was terribly laggy. But it looked nice.

Yeah, gom standard free definitely doesn't look like 240, sure is unwatchable these days though.
Gom site is awful. Constant buffering, random jumps to different time stamps, its just unwatchable and I refuse to pay again. I don't know if I want to keep being subscribed if this keeps up.
I miss gom player. The new GomTV embedded stream shits itself every 5 seconds in every quality I've tried. Had to watch free twitchtv last night despite buying a ticket.
Good news, I had purchased the yearly ticket last year and barely used it. I've already purchased the light ticket on gomtv.net for season 1 (Huk & Stephano made me do it) but if they do this for season 2 I'll go for the twitch.tv option. It's more convenient. I can't tell you how many times it happens during the mornings (while I'm getting ready for work) where I look at what's playing on TL and WANT to watch Gom.tv streams but don't. It's too complicated to be bothered with for the amount of time I'll be watching, so I usually watch something else on twitch just because it's easier. I tend leave the stream on too when going out the door just because I love to see that number in the top right be as high as it can. So ya.. good move
I guess people are having issues with the live stream, but watching vods on EHQ on their site is working perfectly. Only me or was there something wierd today with their color setting? (or whatever you would call it, not my field of expertise).
they really need to give people who already paid gom the option to watch on twitch. the gom stream doesn't work, it's fucking awful. paying twenty bucks to essentially watch the free twitch stream is not fun, especially in a world where five dollars gets you 8 months of proleague at 720p.
Nice addition I hope the GOM player works better tho. I spend 80 bucks on teh light ticket, and it lags constantly (I live in Denmark with 20/2 download/upload). Really quite annoying lag every 5-10 secs. I hope this can improve
I will say that the GOM free stream quality has improved by leaps and bounds but it was doing weird jumps and pauses this morning that I've never experienced before on their site or GOM player nor that I though were even possible. I wonder if it was a one time thing; I certainly hope it doesn't persist for GOMs sake if not the viewers.
I was watching lastnight (well this morning) and god damn. im not one to complain like everyone else did during the up/downs, but last night was seriously and majorly disappointing. i really hope GOM will take the time to fix this cause i dont want this to be my first experience with purchasing season tickets from GOM. -________-
Twitch offers 540p I believe, which is very decent for a free stream of such huge Tournament ^^ CODE S Hwaiting *claps* ^^
Well, it seems you have to pay to watch GOMTV on twitch, you can watch here http://www.twitch.tv/gomtv, it's 19,99$ for a season and you don't have HD at this price... seriously, I find it expensive. At least for the price, we should have access to HD I believe. What do you guys think about it ?
Wait, the title of the thread says that only Code S is going to be streamed on twitch. Is this true? The post on gomtv.net does not say anything about streaming only code s on twitch.
Am I the only person thinking outside of the box? As in they're doing this to combat piracy?
They launched their new player when Blizzard Cup was going, as it was new people didn't know how to extract the videos, I don't think its a coincidence they're going "Oh btw we're moving to Twitch and using our VOD service there"
The should have announced this before I bought my GSL light ticket. If I knew that the Gom 540p was going to lag and that there was another option in twitch I would have bought my ticket on twitch but as it stands there's no way I'm paying for both and even though I've payed I can either watch 360p on twitch or a laggy Gom stream.
I just wanna watch code s on at least HQ (even if I paid for EHQ) - that was not possible on group A day, hopefully it will get better. the possibility to watch it on twitch is nice, but I dont wanna pay again
Thank god, I never got the Gom player to work, ever. After it failed a couple times, I just gave up on it. I might be retarded considering how easy it could have been, but, I really like this switch. It is a great idea to use twitch rather than a stand alone kind of dealy.
Idk about you all, but I still use GOM player to watch videos for class and such. But as far as watching GSL goes, twitch was pretty much the same if not better than the HQ GOM stream.
I had a GSL yearly ticket for all of 2012 and enjoyed it, I never really had a problem with the GOM viewer. However, the constant buffering last night using my light pass for GOM lead me to turn off the stream on GOM's website and just watch the free twitch stream. Anytime any action was about to occur in a game, the stream would start buffering and next thing you knew the game was over.
Also kinda wish I'd known about this back in december when I bought my yearly pass =/ The twitch part that is.
kinda of a joke, I spent alot of money for a yearly ticket HD for the HQ/HQ Best of the best stream.....only to find out once again it's having issues for folk in the U.S (seems like people in Aus and other parts of the world GOM stream is not as bad) But alot of USA/Euros been having issues with gom for about a year now.
Then we find out we have to spend EVEN more money ($19.99) is alot of money for a low garbage 520 stream on twitch....is this a joke? honestly feel like I'm being scammed since GOM announces this late last night because they can't fix the paid streams.....They should provide free twitch 520.....and provide us who paid for HQ/HD what they promised us when we paid them all that money. Only people that are happy about twitch are the people who don't even pay for GSL in the first place. So all of us who pay Yearly just got screwed once again )= I really looking forward to this GSL code S as well, since it's the last WOL one. Also the GOM mods on twich channel chat are pretty mean and rude to people last night who were having issues with stream.
Even people who paid last night for twich 520, could not properly get the 520 stream untill the code s session last night was over, the gom mods in chat would ban anyone who was asking questions about why stuff was not working properly, and the mods them selfs were being rude to the customers.

There's update, because of protest from paying GOM users who now would need to pay for Twitch too.
EDIT 1: First of all, we would like to apologize for the confusion on TwitchTV as well as the state of the Live Stream on www.GOMTV.net.
We promise that we will do our best to make sure our users don't run into any further problems with TwitchTV and in the near future, we will update this post with details on using TwitchTV as a GOMTV.net user.
The post should be updated before tomorrow’s broadcast, so please come back here to read all the details.
As an English-speaking person in China, this is fantastic news. None of the GOM Streams or players work here and I only have the Chinese cast available, so this is good news since Twitch works fine.
Also, people with GOMTv passes seem pretty pissed about the Twitch Subscription being separate.

when this is fixed, I hope the OP is updated to reflect it. things are a mess right now, but I still love GSL and it would suck if only the bad stuff was highlighted
The free stream on twitch isn't the worst I have seen, I usually judge by if I can read numbers on the screen at all, which I can for the most part on twitch free.
However asking your costumers to pay twice as your original service is unwatchable is not what I would have expected from Gom.
Disappointing to say the least. First time yearly ticket buyer and I can't watch in HQ. GOM stream is completely worthless (can't watch for more than a few minutes without consistent lag), so twitch is the only option. Sad panda
Proleague is nowhere near the quality that Code S is. It's very fun to watch and the games are good, but Code S has higher player quality, more interesting games and vastly better casting. There's no way im going to give up and "just watch proleague then"
Yeah hope they fix their gomstream pronto, paid good money for a whole year, and I'm not about to pay additionally for better twitch quality. If this continues for long I'll have to ask for my money back since I'm not getting what I'm paying for.
Pro League is 10x better then GSL, GSL scamed us paying yearly supporters, I paid good money for 2 years in gsl AND gom disrespects us with shit and force us to pay 20 more bucks for shitty twitch stream? I paid 5x less for pro league and got perfect stream. Srsr fuck u and gom mods who Ignore us paying people. I wish gom had non rude people to address this issue.
I have been completely unable to watch any of the stream or VODs. I disabled browser's built-in protection, disabled ad-block plugin, and disabled similar protection in my Internet security prog. Still can't watch anything. I mean, NOTHING.
Whenever I click on a VOD I see a pin-wheel spinning like crazy as if something is about to happen. Waited for 30 minutes, nothing happens. I have no idea what GSL programmers have done.
Completely given up on GSL for that reason. At least with Twitch I should be able to watch. Thank god.
As a faithful VOD-Watcher(srsly i can't watch gom live, ever, I am always at the university sadly) i must say... this does not concern me at all, but it sounds still kinda fishy.
He said he paid for GSL and you tell him to watch ProLeague? I guess you totally miss his point.
Personally never had any problems with GOM player, I actually liked it quite a lot. But twitch should be fine too I guess, as someone who only uses the free stream right now I cant complain anyway I think.

you aren't forced to watch on twitch.
In China you couldn't use the Gom Player because Gom has a partnership with Chinese TV channels. Twitch is usually blocked too but since last week it isn't. It might no last long but either way, there's some english GSL coming to China!

I'm extremely reluctant to go for this offer or to pay for the GSL in general. It doesn't include 720p options (which seem to be locked down to just GOMTV's EHQ deal on their own site) and Reddit has been reporting numerous issues with lag when it comes to GOMTV's new player. I also don't want to sign up with my Twitter or Facebook account either which at present seems to be the only choice to sign up for the GOMTV service.
Likewise with paying through Twitch, I personally have had problems with laggy-as-fuck Twitch VODs. I paid $4.99 for Proleague and in turn the VODs load slow-as-sin even on 360p. Any quality above that is virtually unwatchable unless I wait for half an hour and then press play. Even then it would probably stall and buff around 10 minutes into the VOD on "Best" (or 720p) quality. Live streams usually run fine at higher resolutions unless the site is under severe load from a major event at which case the identical issue occurs.
I know for a fact it's not the 'crappiness' of my internet connection because HD VODs on any other site load really well. It's definitely a Twitch issue and I still believe their service is utter shit in Europe.
Not sure this is such a smart business decision on GOM's part. I think there will be less premium purchasers this way and with the GOM player they had a very specific advantage to the rest of the market.
With GOM Player it streamed from Korea right? That would explain lots of my lag. Twitch has servers closer to me so it has the potential for much less lag
I am really glad GOM and the GSL are giving Twitch a shot. I love watching the GSL, but due to my current set up in my house, I can't watch it on the big TV. I can, however, pump Twitch directly onto my Apple TV through my Iphone(best $100 ever) and watch it there. I watch all my Esports shows and streams on my Apple TV and I am glad GOM is giving me the option to watch their stuff there. Having Arotsis and Tasteless on my TV every morning(except trash day) is pretty great.
I really hope all the leagues move over to Twitch, because I really like their service and software. Their app for the Iphone and Ipad are the best right now and the experience is high quality. GOM is also good on my Iphone, but Twitch is faster and doesn't require me to login all the time.
With all the money leagues and teams are spending, I hope they stop trying to have their own player or host their own streams. It seems nice, but the costs of doing so are to much and Twitch is already set up to provide that. I hope leagues focus on making a great show and let Twitch worry about getting it into my living room.
Twitch, you just need a VOD system for your Iphone app. I will give you money for it. I am not kidding, make it happen and I will pay.
I am liking the fact that they're extending themselves to other outlets to try and accomodate more viewers. My only peeve is that the quality of our flagship stream is still abysmal compared to some (IEM and I believe DH? streams are absolutely gorgeous). I would hate to introduce someone to SC2 and have them watching BW quality video.
Not hating on BW, just the pixelized/polarizing aesthetics of it.
I loved that short time before when it was on Twitch and I was able to watch live on my iPad. It was great to be able to lay in bed last night with my iPad on my lap watching GSL :D Since the screen is so small the free stream doesn't look bad at all either!
I'm in Australia and yesterday the HQ or SQ gom flash player streams were completely unwatchable. Today (as in right now), the HQ stream is smooth and working perfectly (20 mins lag free as of now). I think GOM may have jumped the gun offering refunds. V glad I didn't take the refund for my yearly light ticket yesterday, it is clear that they are working hard to fix the GOM flash player. I'm so sad about this whole thing, such bad timing for technical issues for GOM. They still put on the best sc2 show on earth. Hope not too many people have already taken the refund
I had subscribed to GoM but sent them an e-mail saying I wanted to watch on Twitch. They refunded me the money for GoM and now I'm a happy twitch subscriber Might not be as good quality as on GoM but no lag and better quality than SQ is good enough for me.
