Fnatic have just issued a press release which should silence all the doubters it has had over the past few weeks after they decided to close down their Korean gaming house.
Fnatic are in a process of 'streamlining' their SC2 division, and will be shifting their focus back to the organisation's roots in Europe.
The reasons stated for the termination of the Korean house, is that the house was "a venture that we are able to justify."
"Korea was too distant from the base of Fnatic to work perfectly and we were not able to get the fan interaction and communicaiton with the house that is truly us."
Fnatic, being awesome, have not given up hope for SC2 though - they have some amazing news, and that is setting up a new gaming house in Europe, closer to their headquarters (which is in London).
J, AKA Luvsic, has been released from the lineup.

Great news, at least they'll have some where to play.
|
Good news, though I wonder what will happen with Alive and Oz now.
|
Well, atleast they still put time, money and effort into SC2 instead of just pulling everything out, so yay for the EU line-up of Fnatic! Wonder what will happen to aLive and Oz though. Both have fallen pretty hard since they are on Fnatic.

I disagree with your statement. If you had said that they're in pretty deep of a slump right now, I would have agreed with you. But they haven't "fallen pretty hard since they are on Fnatic". In fact, let me point this out. aLive never actually accomplished anything worthy of that much recognition during his stay with TSL. It was on Fnatic that he reached his peak, in winning IPL4 as well as placing top 4 in Code S and Iron Squid. Oz on the other hand, yeah he's declined a bit, although not that terrible either, he's been doing quite decently at MLGs and even got top 4 in one if I'm not mistaken.
More on topic, this is an interesting turn of events although not that shocking for those who are aware of Fnatic's pre-SC2 activity. Will be looking forward to their new pickups. ^^

Well fnatic's tried Americans with fenix/TT1/kawaiirice/JF and so on, then they tried Korea with rain/byul/moon/alive and so on. I guess now it's Europe's turn with nightend/naama and presumably others.
So with that in mind when can we expect the shift to SEA for fnatic in SC2?
|
I really hope they get a coach/manager in there, otherwise players would just slack off. Not necessarily a KeSPA like regime, but some discipline as well as actual team building etc is needed.
|
I would love to thank Fnatic for the hype they gave us at GSTL 2012 :D Can't forget the first foreigner team wins. This decision is predicted as some guys around has posted on TL, still no idea what will happen to aLive and Oz now
|
This is exciting - hope naama can end up there and get another DH (or similar) title
|
Great News ... House in Europa + New Players and the best... Bye Bye J...!!
Edit: I Think nothing with Oz and Alive... Both make the Same what Mc for SK do...

And although Oz also had decent results at MLG (and really good one at Arenas) their fall from Code S semifinalist to where they are is pretty hard imo

So with that in mind when can we expect the shift to SEA for fnatic in SC2? The thing is that both the American, and the Korean teams were constructed by a manager for Fnatic, not Fnatic per se. When Xeris left Fnatic, his team left as well, since Fnatic wanted to aim higher and the NA roster wasn't getting the results that Fnatic expected (except for Fenix and perhaps TT1). When Hwanni left Fnatic, it seems as though they had a lot of communication problems with their players and their expensive-looking house in Korea.

Alive and oz seem very inconsistent of late, but both are good players. Of course it hasn't been announced that they are leaving fnatic but I don't see them moving to Europe at the very least.
|
Funny how people in the thread say things like "good news" when a player gets cut and a major team confirms that they are giving up on their Korean division. GG J
It'll be hard for him to find a new team the caliber of Fnatic now because he isn't really good nor is he very popular or well known.
|
No wonder NightEnd said everything is very good... + Show Spoiler + Congrats to fnatic on their team house
|
nobody noticing that J is out lol
edit: I suppose Alive and oz will soon leave fnatic
|
dunno but they have most hilarious lineup ever. hopefully they can make good use of those players in a new house.
|
Had no clue that J was part of Fnatic...

So I guess Fnatic will start picking up new European players in the future which is nice

oh my god yes!! Fnatic fighting!!!!

Poor J, he's been released and everybody is like "great news!"... <.<
|
I mostly know J from seeing him play in the various team leagues(IPTL, EGMC, etc) and I've been impressed by his play. I hope the best for him.

would like that personally :D

A European teamhouse? Quick, to the free agent thread!
|
Luvsic does some good result recently, that's sad. He manage to qualify to IPL, and to Ironsquid II with global qualifier. I hope some korean team will pick up.
|
They should be picking up the following players if they want an EU house: Beastyqt MorroW DIMAGA Fraer/Titan
|
Fantastic news that they kicked J ,never liked him and his results were atrocious
hope fnatic will bounce back now.
having money available from Moon`s contract plus korean teamhouse
they should recruit a mix of top notch foreigners and koreans like NaNiwa and HyuN / SymboL would be nuts.
Just want to see fnatic stomping EG in their own teamleague one more time pls

fnatic.DIMAGA fnatic.MorroW fnatic.SjoW? :D ...Nah, he's probably retired... fnatic.Naniwa?

Fnatic Dimaga Fnatic Naniwa.
I would like to see that.

After he stayed on Fnatic for more than a little bit, he fell and fell. He was still a pretty decent player, but no IPL winner for damn sure.
My point is, he was made by TSL, not by Fnatic. aLive fell after joining Fnatic. Even when he got top 4 in Iron Squid he wasn't playing as well as when he was in TSL. Nobody realizes that even though he didn't win anything major in TSL, he was one of the top top top players in Korea right before he left TSL.
Anyways, glad they are sticking with Europe. Fnatic always makes amazing Korean runs (remembering Moon and Remind from WC3, and was Remind's partner FoCuS? or another Korean?) but Koreans always make their teams. I want to see them run a successful European team as a European organization. GL to them!

Good luck to them, its nice to see them still around.

A successful European team? You're joking right? What about their older, godlike CS 1.6 roster with f0rest and cArn on it? What about e-Sport legends like Vo0, Toxjq and other world class players ike strenx and Stermy that comepted for them in Quake and Painkiller? I'm just saying. In fact their all-Swedish CS line-up is probably the biggest reason Fnatic has been so successful and well-known in competitive gaming.
So yeah, Fnatic haven't been as Korean-dominated as you seem to indicate.

I hope Oz and aLive go to KeSPA teams and get back into shape. Both players fell off hard during their time with fnatic.

Or even better, haul them over here to Europe! Though I don't know whether they would regain their old strength from that.

enough free agents are out there for a fnatic euro team house

Neither Moon nor Remind played for Fnatic. Moon played for MYM and WeMade Fox, and Remind played for MYM and SK. Fnatic had two WC3 teams, a European one with NaNiwa, Satiini, RotterdaM, elfi, XyLigan, Rob, DieSel etc, and a Korean one with Shy, FoCuS, Space, Yange, MinHyuk (and viOlet for 1 month lol). FoCuS was Remind's partner, but it was during their time with MYM, FoCuS then moved to Fnatic with his friends from Clan Go, whilst Remind stayed with MYM.

Amazing news. I hope they make more video content in the future. Nightend is an amazing guy. Gl Fnatic!
|
Great news for the EU Fnatic guys but makes me wonder what will happen with their korean players
|
Finally, they're coming home :3

Somewhat disenchanting that the release of Luvsic a.k.a. "J" from Fnatic is nothing but a footnote in the OP.
"[...] but unfortunately with the house closing down and J looking to stay in a team house we simply can't have him on our roster. We wish him the best in finding a team that supports him."
After Fnatic have pulled the plug on their Korean adventure, I see Oz and aLive leaving for greener pastures -- preferably in Korea -- rather sooner than later. With these plans of the Fnatic organization now made official, no wonder at least their European players were not concerned at all. Well, good luck in Europe.
