His $70,000 salary would have been close to top 10 in earnings in 2012. Remember that a lot of tournaments are top heavy. Glad to hear Parting's going to SKT T1 though! You are forgetting that HotS is coming. That is almost a new start for everyone. I thought there were always just a few players who play there because of their cooperation, but not really because a "player would like to attend". And yes, I agree that you need a top 3 placement to actually get a decent amount of money - that's why I'd agree that it's a good thing for some... Decent players to join a KeSPA teams but not really for the ones who win everythig abroad. (And btw: he got a salary from Startale as well, just not as much as he's getting now, but it's not that he relied solely on his success) | ||

How many players won $70,000 US from playing aboard last year? Just because you won a lot this year, doesn't not mean anything next year. Think about it, if PartinG had not perfected his wonwonwon, he probably would have only won $30,000 or so last year. He was 2 Bo3 alway from not making $130,000 plus ( if he didn't qualify thru WCS Korea). These are not good odds. Of course, the players at the top look like they are making huge money, but competition is so fierce at the top level. A couple bad matches at the wrong times can cost you a lot of money. | ||
