I hope MVP comes back. He definitely should get his wrist healed (if possible). Everything will change once HotS comes.
Like others said (also like Artosis said) he's one of the few Terrans who can show that Terran can still win games!
Does anyone remember which video Artosis made the MVP playing with one arm comment?
I remember him talking about how MVP lost his arm from walking with his hands in a mine field (to show to Nestea of course).
It was from GSL Season 4 but I can't find out which one it was (it's one of the first videos).
Definitely funny if anyone remembers .

Ideal scenario (as an Mvp fan):
1. Mvp gets time off to fully recover 2. Mvp gets back in Hots and dominates for a whole year 3. Mvp finally gets his bonjwa status and retires while on top/becomes a Sc2 legend.
Santa, in 2013 I only want those things to come true.

Pretty sure Mvp is already a legend.

Do you? If Mvp does dominate for a whole year in HOTS, I am sure he would be made first sc2 bonjwa.
Do you think that bonjwa is some random word that Koreans made up just for BW? It actually derives from the Chinese word "本座" which literally means "To be seated at the highest place".

A lot of people were already gonna call him that in Korea had he won the finals vs Life.

Well whatever bonjwa means in people's heads, Mvp is only terran that won GSL in 2012 (one terran among protoss) and come very close to winning it 2nd time vs Life. People called Taeja best terran in the world at that time, and he got destroyed by Life. Mvp succeeds where every other terran fails. And he did all that while suffering from the condition that makes his fingers numb.
What does Mvp have to do to get credit he deserves? Walk on water?

Full statement below: Show nested quote +Attention StarCraft fans: Due to wrist injuries, LG- Incredible Miracle Hyeon, Jeong-Jong (IMMvp) will be unable to compete at #IPL5 in both the IPL5 and GSLWC tournaments. Based on GSL point rankings, Startale ST-Squirtle HyunWoo Park will be replacing him. Please wish them both the best! It's really terrible that Mvp's wrists are affecting him enough to cause him to drop out of tournaments. Hopefully he gets treatment soon - I'm sure all of us want to see the King of Terran performing at his best. Send him some love in his fanclub here, and feel free to cheer on his replacement, Squirtle, here.
This is not about wrists but TvZ

its gonna take a pretty long time until somebody can come even close to his gsl trophy count and finals appearences, lets hope he recovers fast and gets some more trophies in hots

I do get his reasons but the state of tvz possibly played a big role on this decision

Hey, what about some sources on that instead of just spitting out random crap . . .
Also, it's IMMvp we're talking about here. King of WoL!

I don't think it has anything to do with balance. MVP stated long ago that the tvz match up is very hard for terran and i remember him saying just before a set at the gom studio that he won't win because it's a zerg (i think he won tho). He played all those games nonetheless and still won GSLs. MVP is in pain and all you get to think about is how to QQ some more using him as a media. You won't get past MVP's fans i tell you.
Prompt recovery to you MVP, hope he will take it slow and be in good shape when he returns to keep the kids away from his G5L trophy

If MVP had won the MMA and Life finals, he would most certainly be a bonjwa. As it stands, I would say he's on the verge...but the WoL era is coming to an end.
|
tbh, Mvp is still the best WoL player with 4 GSL championships and when WoL era ends, he is the only one

The difference between a Bonjwa and someone who just wins a lot of tournaments is the way they do it. When any of the past bonjwas entered a tournament, they were the favorite by a longshot. There was no other contender, and anyone else winning was a huge upset. There is a reason SaviOr losing to Bisu is so legendary: because at the time SaviOr was unbeatable. It's the same for all the other bonjwas, they were the extreme favorite in any tournament they entered. It's also the reason Flash wasn't called a bonjwa for so long, because Jaedong was always there to threaten him.
It's never been like that for MVP. It's always been: Yeah he might be one of the ones to take it, but this other guy is pretty good too.

Pretty much Najda,
MVP would never be considered a bonjwa for the same reasons Jaedong would never be considered a bonjwa. Yet, guess what nickname he earned rather fast? The Legend Killer.
A legend surely but you guys need to learn what true domination is. Unfortunately (if you can even call it that) there are a number of players who can win a tournament on any given Sunday. Furthermore, there are too many tournaments. In order to qualify for such a title you would have to win every tournament you show up to for a calendar year.
You have no equal; you have no rival.
It's not a flash of brilliance.
It's more like, "Shit man. Why do we even bother showing up? We know he's going to win already."
I see nothing wrong if he ends his career as a Legend. You don't need bonjwa status to go down in history.
MVP is a World Class player. Screw Codes and Top Players. Say hello to the World Class.

I want him to recover so badly!
He is the only player I would ever consider naming "The best SC2 player" or at least the most successful in SC2 history!! He's consistency - Despite an injury!!!!!!!! - is yet unmatched by anyone!
Much <3 to MVP! Hoping to see him back in full force someday!

There is a special place in hell for people who takes a situation like this and makes up stuff on behalf of a player to complain about the game with their own interest being their main concern =p

Yes I guess so, but Sc2 is a different game (although similar) so I don't think we will have such players, maybe a couple of years after last part of Sc2 comes out and everything gets figured out/blizzard stops affecting the game with balance changes, but even then I am not so sure there will ever be a bonjwa by the definition you provided. Even though Koreans are stronger you can't even say "X Korean will take this foreign tournament 100%"
