Hope Sage can find a new team soon, other than that I don't really know much about them.

There's a whole post on Millenium that I can translate (it's in french) explaining few of the reasons.
So, here is the french post, and here is an English translation (spoilered cause wall of text)

+ Show Spoiler +

AltTab Gaming's journey ends here.
First of all, this decision is purely financial: we could simply no longer cover the costs of the team. Some of the investors -including the most important one- didn't give us the money he promised and the encouraging results didn't provide enough response from potential sponsors. Some of them still wanted to help us, and I would like to thank them.

Now I should explain why Team Eclypsia's name appears in rumors and posts since yesterday. One month ago, when we understood that we will no longer be able to ensure future deadlines, and that we should announce the end of our team, staff and players (who all worked really hard) OR find a solution that will allow our association to continue its development. That's when we start to study a proposition -even though it was an unofficial one, from Eclypsia.

In order to make sure everybody understood, I will inform you of the biggest terms in this proposition :

-Eclypsia representatives, aware of their several fails in the Starcraft 2 scene, wanted to take the lead of AltTab with a "white card" in order to restore Eclypsia's prestige in France, and in the world. Eclypsia proposed a comfortable enough budget to form a good competitive lineups, from their roster, our roster, and recruitments we were working on. (Some players would have been released from their contract, but everything was done following rules, and we were negociating with them)

-After that, we meet the representatives during Paris Games Week (our french players CENSURE and SonG were there, and part of our staff) . We agreed for a common future, and the contract should have been signed three days later.

During those days, we decide not to close the team, so we can still support players and try an as smoothy transition as possible. When everything seems to be fine (we were already in contact with Eclypsia players) , Eclypsia asked us to wait ten more days (until November, 14th) , a time they needed to get the approval of their financial service.

Indeed, the proposition was done without warranty, and what had to happen happened : yesterday, the contract was cancelled.

This is the end of AltTab Gaming.

Of course, Eclypsia is not responsible of Alt Tab Gaming's financial problems and I can perfectly understand why some projects could be cancelled. This is not an attack against Eclypsia, just an explanation since transparency must be present in Esports
Unfortunately, the unscrupulous methods put the players and the association in an akward spot, since the deadlines and fees generated by the additional month are on AltTab Gaming charge.

Since the association cannot provide those fees, I personnaly commited to the persons concerned, as the owner, to support important and urgents fees, like Sage's return to Korea.

Jeremy Lopès, AltTab Gaming owner

Hm, poor Sage, as far as I know he's still in the MoW house, right? I hope he finds a new team soon, though that will be pretty hard considering the many Korean free agents we have right now. Don't know about the other players to be honest.

I think he leaves tomorrow, he plays a LAN in Berlin right now, so he can´t have left already.

You can forget any other pro team than millenium in France (yes even you aAa you are dead now)
Mill is like the big shot, they have money,a stable structure,Sponsors,a gaming house,a nice webtv (as the other guy said it has like 4k viewers for even small french events),they organize cup and everything (MSI procup,Mill house cup...)

The other teams just cannot live under that, they are just too poor and lack spotlight.
(i'm talking in a pro context,if you are semi-pro then they are fine)

From what I've also heard most teams in France except for millenium and the now unfortunately dead aAa were pretty shady as well.

Yeah, I guess it is true for small teams in several countries, and it is kinda sad. But there is not enough sponsors for everyone.

He said huge IN FRANCE. Millenium is a famous structure, known by every gamers who likes esport in France.

EG is probably bigger, but proportionnaly to the US population... dunno, i think Mill got the point there.

It's definitely a bad sign when the only team that could've saved you is Eclypsia. Sad to see another team fall.

I rarely see it have more than 4K. However Mill has been in the sports scene for years and is the premier esport org in France, the same way EG is for US.

Uh.. TL is the premier esport organisation in US. TL's players' streams are a bit less watched compared to EG, especially with both Stephano and Idra on the same team, but TL's tournaments are much more watched, and the website in general waaaaaaay more visited.

Following this logic, actually TSM is the premier esport organisation in the US. Kinda shows how there are several big esports organisations in the US, unlike in France.

I highly doubt that. Equivalent, maybe. But EG is most definitely not a "joke." They set a very high standard.

I wonder why Stephano went to EG?

Millenium is HUGE in France. EG in the USA is a joke compared to Millenium in France (Yesterday they got 4K viewers during 3 hours for a multi-esports event with good players and some viewers) This fact makes in very difficult for upcoming teams to get money.

4k isn't enough to call EG a joke in comparison...>_>

EG gets way more than that during the masters cup.

I really, truly, genuinly lol'd so hard at that.

Try reading up on your facts next time.

No it is not. TL might be the premier SC/SC2 organization in US (even that I am not sure), but it is definitely not the premier eSports organization. TL needs to pick up like 1/2 dozen more games for it to be considered as such.

To compare numbers : onemoregame.TV has 25M total viewers whereas MilleniumTV1 has 40M. And the first one has a multinational audience while Millenium has only a francophone audience (mostly european)

EG is a vastly richer team than Millenium but they have the biggest market in the world, still they don't have the same kind of penetration. And Millenium isn't even doing a good job at marketing themselves at the french public ...

That was supposed to be KeSPA. Sponsors correlate with popularity. A pro scene doesn't come before a game's popularity.

You can't compare EG and M, since EG is sharing the US market with many other teams while M is alone at pro level in France.
That being said, I really hope one day we'll have another "M-like" teams in France, since alone it's really hard to promote eSport.

@Topic: sad for players.

Millenium can't be that huge otherwise they would have been able to afford stephano, the pride of france. They may be huge relative to france, but small potatoes compared to EG.

The USA market is way, way bigger than the French market. It's not really fair to try and compare to a much smaller base. Head to head, EG is just way bigger than millenium. edit: and it's a pretty good point too that the USA market is well saturated with other competing brands.

But the point from the beginning was relative hold on their respective markets. The discussion was never about absolute wealth or size. It is as fair as comparing any other relative values. You just need to know what is being compared and not suffer from knee-jerk reactions because someone said EG is smaller.

You just need to read posts thoroughly instead of posting knee-jerk responses full of assumptions. I'll figure out what's being compared as soon as you stop inserting my motives for doing so.

I read your post and I see no assumptions that I made, I react only to your exact words in that post. Last sentence was not really directed at you personally, it was more reaction to other posts of similar content, should have used different phrasing.

*sigh* I'm not saying EG isn't bigger, this isn't an e-peen contest. I am just trying to present a reason why french teams struggle to sustain themselves. Millenium isn't the reason the teams are failing, but it's the reason why they feel pressure to succeed and end up disbanding because they can't meet their objectives.

The reasons of Millenium's hold onto the french scene are numerous and I am not trying to establish a fair comparison with EG, I'm just providing metrics, a measurement stick if you will. Because EG is the biggest team out there.
