seriously upsetting to see slayers go like this, I'm trying to reserve judgement until official statements are released from all parties. As much as I love Jessica I can't take that translated post seriously, its way too biased.

Hopefully something official comes out soon.

This makes me really sad
Although Jessica might have been a loudmouth on her twitter several times, I just can't imagine why she should lie about this (c'mon she's a famous actress and BoxeR's fiancee, why should she steal (kinda her own money) from the team?! I don't get it... Also think that BoxeR's the last person to blame for this...
Just very, very sad, as I followed Slayers the last two years until BoxeR's departure... FUCK SC, get your shit together ALREADY!!!!

Guys,

Its easy to go out in a blaze of glory.. The slayers players, managers (even with my own personal run ins) are all great people. We should rather appreciate what was given to us by their presence rather than start drama digging.

Just to be clear on 1 thing. Jessica's references appear to be on the old organisation not the current ESF. Even I had a run in with them and I am glad that org is gone. The current one however, runs a relatively sound operation that has not only impressed me, but helped me be calm amongst all the drama that goes on in Korea.

I leave you with this. Its better to have loved and lost, than to have never loved before.

I hope that Cella and the Slayers family all end up in great positions and are in our gaming lives in the future.

I don't follow. The current ESF consists of people who made up the old organisation, no?

Was coming, but still. They produced some of the biggest talent out there, and just collapse this easily.

So this is true this time? So sad. I'm sure they'll find a new team soon. Maybe some will go to axiom.

It's actually a good decision. If you think you can't play at super high level right now then you should rethink about your career because with Kespa players and ESF players competition is ridiculuosly tough.

Way more money in LoL right now too.

really? afaik SC2 has better prize support as well as income support hrm

the prize distribution is shitty but if you're at the top it's better (and not being at the top sucks anyway in esport). Dunno about salaries and co tho.

I concur.

Even though Jessica's reputation, I don't think she is ill enough to dig her own grave.

Poor Eve. What will she do now? And how will I be able to meet her and her incredibly cute friends if she no longer has reason to show up to events?

On a side note, Cella told me once that Intel sponsorship was only designated for Boxer. So while they Slayers was one of the richest teams during conception, it was all in Boxer/Jessica pockets. I'm sure they dug into that to fund the house and what not, but the players were definitely not paid even close to substantially. And even if they did pay out the entire $200,000 + other sponsorships to the players, it would still just amount to your basic full-time minimum wage salary at best (in the meagre Korean minimum wage, not the luxurious other country ones).

The problem with all of the GSL teams was that they were created without major sponsors in hopes that SC2 would become incredibly popular and that they would cash out. The wave wasn't as big as they thought, and both teams and players stuck with it as long as possible in order to see if they could make it. This leads massive player hops, especially when someone suddenly breaks out and the spotlight is on him. Sure players were bound by contracts, but when your compensation is like $500 a month, and you're a minor without enough of a reputation/assets to care about being sued, those contracts mean very little to you. Fast forward to today, none of Slayers A-team sees a point in chasing the dream any more and realize that LoL seems to be a more lucrative option (but will probably succumb to the same problems, as the system is essentially the same, just the viewership is a bit higher).

Every single Kespa team (save team 8) is backed by the largest companies in Korea, and receives enough money to pay 6 figure salaries to their top players, compensation that would be worth sacrificing a regular job for to mid performers and the rest, as well as take entire teams of 15-25 to Hawaii or whatever for Proleague celebrations/training camps. We're talking well over the $1 million mark to make a team worth joining (and sacrificing your chances of getting accepted into a good university, which is what Koreans live and die for).

Long story short, this is not Boxer's fault. This is not Jessica's fault. This certainly isn't sweet beautiful Eve's fault. This is simply a result of projected returns on investment not being realized during the GSL gold rush. Luckily IM got LG and ST got Redbull, although I'm sure that they do not receive as much money as Kespa teams. Management for GSL teams strikes me as a bit incompetent.

You can go as far as to say that this is GSL's fault. They created a league for the game while it was still in beta with a massive prize pool that seemed too good to pass up. At a rate of one massive tournament per month/2months in which 64 spots got paid and first place was $100,000 and 2nd place $50,000, people had to scramble to turn their clans of friends into "teams," and never had time to establish proper contracts, operation systems, long term plans, competent management, and so on. Today could be very different if GSL had a smaller tournament for the Beta, and gave time for teams to properly form before the next tournaments, so as to not leave room for all the player stealing/leaving/dissatisfaction controversies we've had over these past 2 years that scare away sponsors.

Makes you think.

I love Eve.

Agreed with that. More will disband as well. A few months ago I would've thought SlayerS could be one of the ones that survive once the KESPA teams come in, but after BoxeR left it seemed only a matter of time.

I seriously cannot comprehend in my brain how MMA could possibly have been " bullied " by ESF players, he's a motherfucking two time GSL champion. How could they show such disrespect?

- But.. I was told by others that he is streaming and looking for a foreign team. So I asked him why he had to lie and what his unprofessional attitutes are for. I asked him if he knew why MMA wanted to leave the team. He answered 'it's because of me - when I told MMA that I want to move to another team because of the team atmosphere, MMA wanted to join me'. I asked MMA whether it was true and he denied.

Huh. In the other parts, didn't Jessica basically say that MMA wanted to form a new team and steal Slayers' players or something? This makes it sound like MMA simply wanted to go wherever Crank wanted to go. Big difference.

To be honest, I get a bad vibe about Jessica from the translations done her (thank you so much for the translation, by the way), but I can't quite put my finger on it why. Weird.
