You made it to your first ever Code S. How do you feel?

This is my first ever Code S so I feel so good. I am happy that I was able to advance while avoiding the Up/Downs. I get excited just hearing the term, Code S.

Your opponent was HyuN, whose current momentum is incredible. How did you prepare for him?

I knew that I was going to go to a game three since it's so hard to win on Whirlwind. But I still think my games went better than I expected them to.

You lost game one pretty disappointingly due to force field errors.

On a map like Whirlwind, if you grab your third really quickly, you fall behind in army supply and if you grab it late, you still get put behind for the late game. HyuN made overseers really quickly so he knew where all my observers were.

For game two, you grabbed the charge upgrade first.

Actually, I grabbed blink first but I wanted to play a completely different game. I get really good mobility and I get to use zealots for the late game. I can grab the xel'naga watch towers and I can handle both zerglings and roaches so it I would have been able to use my zealots positively.

In game three, we saw you defeat HyuN's large mutalisk army.

I figured I would win as long as I defended well. I knew the timing of when mutalisks like to arrive. If the mutalisk number keeps on increasing, I can just respond with more and more stalkers. I even knew about his expansion but I couldn't go to attack it. That's why I decided I would just muscle him out of the game.

When you went to grab your third, HyuN already had five hatcheries up. Did you know this?

I think he decided to go for that since we were cross positions on Entombed Valley. I really did want to push them after I saw him go mutalisks. But then I realized that my four base play wouldn't be effective in my situation so I decided to just go for a comeback attack.

Anyone you would like to face in Code S?

I haven't even though about Code S yet. I guess I'll be fine as long as I don't have to play any mirror matches.

Lately, Protoss players keep on stating that late game against Zerg is really difficult.

This is true. It's really hard to beat Zergs in the late game. If you face a player who has stellar infestor micro, you just can't win. But personally speaking, I do have a solution. I just wish that the maps would be bigger.

Did you watch the match between Brown and Life for Iron Squid II?

Unfortunately, no I wasn't able to. I heard about it but I honestly think that the immortal timing attack is just really OP (laughs). Aside from that play, it's just really hard to win against a Zerg. If the Zerg keeps on stacking on infestors, it's just impossible to win.

What are your next goals?

Getting up to the Ro8 for Code S and securing my spot for next season will be my next goal.

Anything else you would like to say?

Yesterday was my father's birthday so I want to take this opportunity to wish him a happy birthday. DRG hyung has the OSL semis today so I hope he can make it to the finals. I have a friend from since middle school who always cheers me on so I want to thank him for that. I want to thank my Zerg teammates who helped me with practice and I want to thank our partner MYM and sponsors Lotte and RAZER.

You have successfully made it to Code S three seasons in a row. How do you feel?

I feel good that I advanced, but feel upset because it was a team kill.

What kind of thoughts did you get when you saw that you would be facing fellow teammate Hack?

I didn't really get any thoughts. I had to go to China for WCS Asia so I just told myself to just go for it comfortably.

You faced a 11/11 in game one.

I scouted fast in game one and knew what was up after seeing his scv count. As I saw what he was doing I started thinking "wow, so even my own teammate is doing this to me". I messed up my micro a lot but I got lucky so I was able to block it well.

Game two was also a proxy rax bunker rush.

I had no idea he would go for it again in game two. I figured he wouldn't try to go for a really long late game macro battle since he would be facing defeat if he also lost game two. I saw build a bunker in front of my gate so I thought to myself "oh, he went for it again". But I still didn't get nervous much.

Proxy rax rushes must affect you mentally. But are you confident against them now?

I really want my Terran opponents to keep using it against me. I have full confidence in myself that I can block it now.

You went to China last week for WCS Asia.

My results were not the best so I wasn't feeling great during my time there. I wasn't able to make it to the World Championships but I did get a lot of time to think about what I was lacking in so I think I'll be able to do really well from here on out.

You disappointingly fell out unexpectedly for the 2012 IeSF tournament.

My skills were not enough so I lost. I think this also happened regarding my trip to China. I'm going to practice really hard from here on out so that I can show a great form.

Fellow teammate PartinG got second for WCS Asia so a lot of people are saying that StarTale has been cursed.

I saw PartinG grab second place for WCS Asia and realized that "wow, StarTale is a second place team." But Life made it to the finals of Code S and I really think he's going to break this curse for us and take down Mvp. Honestly, I wanted to be the one to break this curse but I think it's going to be Life who does it.

You must want to win a championship.

I really didn't have any regrets but lately I've been losing so many close games that I'm feeling regrets now. I'm going to do the best that I possibly can.

Any goals?

Just like every other player, my goal is to win the championship but I also want to win every single match with great performances.

Anything else you would like to say?

I want to thank NSH_Sculp for practicing with me before the match began. I want to thank our sponsors ZOWIE Gear and Red Bull. I think Bomber hyung told Hack that my weakness was the 11/11 but I think Hack was misinformed. I think I'm going to have to apologize to Hack.

Your debut season and yet you made it all the way to Code S. How do you feel?

I feel really good. I stated in my qualifiers interview that my goal was Code S so I am really happy that I was able to make it come true.

You grabbed the advantage in game one during the marine battles.

As I was preparing for my match against Heart, I got the notion that he likes marine engagements. So I decided to pump out marines from five barracks and just overpower him.

You went for a banshee play in game two but you didn't see much effect from it.

I think it was because of lack of experience. I prepared a poke build but the same engagements occurred so I wasn't able to find a solution. I wanted to play while matching the current scenario but the end result was not great.

In the final game, after some furious give and take battles, you grabbed his tanks and swiftly took the lead.

My teammate hyung sKyHigh told me that he had faced Heart before and that he noticed Heart is a really good mech player. So I focused on gathering my army and then hitting him with everything I've got to end it. Just as if I was luring a bunny in to a corner so that I can grab him.

What does getting Code S mean to you?

I am still so dazed since this is such a major tournament. I'm not sure what I can compare this to but I guess it'd be like making the Ro16 of an OSL.

Anyone you would like to face in Code S?

I want to face Terrans and Protosses and avoid Zergs. It's not easy to win against Zergs and I also don't really have any answers for brood lords.

Any goals?

First off, my goal is to make the Ro16. I'm not the type to just drink the kimchi soup so my first goal is the Ro16, and then I'll aim for the Ro8, Ro4, and the ultimate goal will be the finals.

You will probably need to prepare for the style that is Code S.

This will be my first time so it will be unfamiliar. But since coach Park was on Incredible Miracle, he knows how Code S flows that I'm going to do my best to get through it well.

What do you think about the flow of SC2 in general?

Terran has a major weakness. They are at a disadvantage for late game scenarios. Zergs and Protosses are fine since they have top tier units but as far as I'm concerned, Terran has none.

Anything else you would like to say?

I even practiced during days that I had off but I still wasn't able to perform well. I think I'm going to have to practice even more. Teammates GoJaeHeum and Bunny helped me out a lot so I want to thank them for that and I will buy them something delicious when I get back.

You've made it to Code S two seasons in a row. How do you feel?

I'm happy and all but I had to defeat aLive hyung who I'm really close with so I can't really express it. But personally, I think I'm at a place where I belong.

How did you prepare for your match against aLive?

I didn't have a lot of time to prepare since I had just gotten back to Korea. Which is why I carefully observed Rain hyung laddering back in China. That helped me out a lot and I think that was also the secret to why I won today.

How were the WCS Asia finals?

A lot of people told me that China was not a safe place to go to but I think Shanghai was fine. It was really fun and the environment was great. I didn't like the stage where the tournament was held but the overall trip was nice.

Did participating in WCS Asia help you?

Since I found out what areas I'm lacking in, I think it motivated me to practice even harder. I also got to become friends with the Korean people I went with so I feel really good.

Last season for Code S Ro32, you were eliminated. What are your goals for this season?

I don't necessarily have a set goal. I just want to do my best for every match.

Anyone you would like to face for Code S?

There really isn't anyone. I do want to play a mirror match in the Ro32 though. I know it's dependent on luck but I feel less pressured during mirror match ups.

You have Code S and the World Championships ahead of you. How are you going to prepare for them?

A lot of players will say the same thing but I am going to practice a ton. I'm going to have to decipher my opponents if I want to be able to get good results. Up till now, I've been just going with my pre-planned strategies.

Anything else you would like to say?

I want to thank GuMiho, Sting, and Dream for practicing with me. I want to let everyone who went to China that they did a job well done. Lastly, I want to thank our sponsor Tt eSports.

Thanks SeeKeR! There are some glaring grammatical errors in this one so you might want to check them out though.
e.g. Your opponent was HyuN, who'swhose current momentum wasis incredible. How did you prepare for him?

Squirtle's been through so many proxy rax he's probably the best protoss against it now lol.

Could be Ever)P(TT or SopiaWeRRa, who both were on IM in its early days and are listed as retired on Liquipedia (and have surname Park). Neither of them are listed on CJ's liquipedia though.

edit: more likely TT as he was a semi-notable BW player (for KHAN) and I have no idea where Sopia came from

Hmmm....

Could be. It was weird. They specifically said CranK's name so I was confused too.

Well at least for Squirtle/Hack it's a team kill so it would make sense. Koreans seem to be pretty friendly towards each other irregardless even if they are rivals you rarely see someone really say something rather rude or insensitive about a fellow Korean player.
