Unfortunately, we have to say goodbye to our Korean StarCraft II manager, Seong-Hwan "Hwanni" Kim.
Hwanni joined Fnatic alongside aLive on February 1st in 2012. He was in charge of the Fnatic Gaming House Korea, helped our team get into GSTL and perform rather well in Season 2, provided an immense amount of help to our players at MLGs and other events, hosted shows and represented Fnatic in the best way possible.
However due to recent changes he can no longer dedicate enough time to our team, and thus it was agreed that he will leave Fnatic. He will continue being involved in e-sports, providing consulting for MLG and team EG.
Statement by Hwanni:
I enjoyed working with Fnatic players and all the Management. I would like to thank all the people who supported me in Fnatic. I wish Fnatic to become an even better and successful team. Thanks to everyone. Fnatic Fighting!
I like this thread better, provides more information and the formatting is better. Thanks for the information. I hope this means that EG will pick up more koreans and such.
Wow this was out of the blue. Loved Hwanni on Fnatic, gonna be weird not seeing him on their GSTL bench. :< Best of luck with EG and MLG and everything! Good luck to Fnatic! ^^

Interesting. Not to completely write that off, but seeing as how ToD is known for complaining about a lot of things- and the fact that Hwanni will apparently just be consulting with MLG and EG- hopefully there won't be problems with the new position.
This really caught me off guard, when Khaldor tweeted it I thought he was trolling as they seem to have a close relationship. It should prove as some help to those EG members in Korea right now, I just hope aLive and Oz are able to improve their condition in the coming months, they've both really dropped off since joining Fnatic

ToD literally bitches about everything, I wouldn't take what he says to heart.

I am sure SirScoots would merely comment that Hwanni was inspired to join EG due to the team's amazing reputation, history of success, and incredible generosity.

This is so true. I remember ToD once actually whining about winning too many games in a chat channel in wc3, it was amusing.

those complaints were legit, the fnatic house was a really good place and it was taken care of pretty well ONLY when the owner or carn was around but hwanni didn't do much and was very slow to get shit done. Sad that EG is wasting money on him
Bullshit title. :/ What does consulting have to do with "joining" a team? Either provide a source or explanation for the title, or change it to something less sensationalistic.

Ya that's what I first thought of when I saw this... though I must admit I was surprised to hear that when I read it.
In any event, I'm happy to hear he will be working with MLG. He seems like he will be a very useful middleman, and hopefully we will see him translating events again. I'm surprised by him being associated with EG though. :O

I based the title off tweets by Khaldor and Wolf.
FNatic Manager @Hwanni_ leaves FNatic and joins @EvilGeniuses! Good luck with your new team Hwanni!
Fnatic Coach @Hwanni_ news finally out. Now moved to EG.
They always said that they were very close to him, so I thought their word was trustable.

The EG curse will strike again, causing Hwanni to make a severe translation error in every interview. Also, every player he coaches will get supply blocked frequently. This is gonna happen !11

Okay that's not unreasonable then. Still doesn't look like good wording to me anyhow - I assume he was not consulting them before he left Fnatic given the wording, but joining implies something entirely different. :/ You don't join someone by consulting them, especially if there's no exclusivity in it. Your choice of title has a reason at least, so that's fair enough, but I think the terminology is still sketchy, but I will blame Wolf and Khaldor for that.

seems like a precursor to an EG house in Korea. hwanni wouldn't need to be a full time manager cause EG already has evoli, he would just need to help out in Korea. also stephano tweeted that he had a dream he was goi... and that was it.

he should fit right in with the current ethos of the EG frat house then

Who cares what ToD says man?
ToD has a huge ego, and judging from the fact that he doesn't even reciprocate a simple "gl hf" at the beginning of a game (was just watching his stream now) it's obvious that he isn't the nicest person around anyway.
Not meaning to shit on ToD, he's probably a decent enough guy. But I'd take any of the value judgements that ToD makes about other people with a grain of salt.

I would have to concur with this staetement. With EG being the great notable team that they are and with a roster full of up and coming players, Hwanni obviously made the right call. Can you honestly blame a man for wanting to make the right next step in his career?
You can't really judge what happened from one side of a story, iirc Hwanni hasn't said anything to defend himself so we should hold back judgement.

ToD isn't a manner bear like Sheth or White-Ra but "gl hf" and "gg" don't really mean anything any more so it's pointless to judge manner by whether people say some meaningless letters.

acutally, ToD only shits about pvz and he has all the right to do so Oo so yeah, i believe in his statement.

That's good to hear! Fighting =)
Also i believe ToD that Hwanni wasn't around often and i could imagine it to be a bit annoying for him. Wasn't Hwanni also a translator for Fnatic? Might have been helpful for ToD to have him around sometimes. He might fit better in EG.
Basically says that he'll be consulting for MLG AND EG. Impossible to make out what kind of a role or impact he is going to have. The word consulting, at this point, is too vague. And he's doing it for 2 organizations. My initial reaction is that he is going have a very small role for EG.

Good to see him taking more of a consultant role and doing other kinds of stuff, if he doesn't have enough time to manager a proteam full-time. Best of luck to him!

Dirty money
You don't say...
Kind of interested how he'll affect MLG in "consulting"
Sounds like its probably a good move for Hwanni. MLG and EG are good people and I'm sure it will open up some other great opportunities everyone involved.
Cool, you think EG has enough really good talent on their team. Still, this is a really big step in Hwanni's Career. I doubt that he is not happy with it.

LOL too true
hope to see EG kr house
I was under the impression that he wasn't/isn't a player, but a manager/consultant..

Nice one
Welp, good for Hwanni. Fnatic surely got the shorter end of the stick there.
Says he's doing consulting, before everyone freaked out saying he 'joined' EG, did anyone ever consider consulting means he's not employed so much as just getting paid to help them.
If he was to busy to be part of fnatic maybe he's got Real Life stuff he's tending to and he's only taking consulting gigs that pay well enough to justify the time. IE: He's not part of that team he's just doing some work for them.
Luckily for Hwanni, EG curse doesn't effect non players! On a more serious note, I really hope this gives some strength to EG in terms of practice/strategy etc.
I feel there is a lot of potential here for team EG. I am sure they agree, which is why they added him. With some better results they will definitely be a team to be reckoned with.
On October 01 2012 16:09 ThePlayer33 wrote: so what does EG gain by having Hwanni?
well consindering that EG had efforts to gain presence in Korea, and also considering that EG also seems to value community figures/casters/hosts etc, having both fluent korean and english is already a big asset, but he also has a good e-sports related history. EG was even willing to pay dorks like Orb...
Hwanni was bought because EG needs a translator at the house in Korea, so that the foreigner players can communicate better with the Korean players, which will be the former Slayers team -> EG Korean division.
