Tasteless' argument may not hold water from a scientific analysis of addiction, but there's a difference between MKP and a random WoW player, even if both were addicted. One has the potential to turn their drive/addiction into something of greater value, and the other is a WoW player, which I think is point Tasteless tries to get across. I disagree with your approach to the argument. I think what separates MKP from the random WoW player (in the hypothetical scenario you presented where they are both addicted to their respective games), MKP isn't hurting himself. He has a team that supports him, a healthy lifestyle, and is putting the game in a context of improving his play to satisfy his passion. The random WoW player isn't keeping up with his own personal hygiene most likely (if they truly are addicted), they typically have lack of a support system, and are unmotivated in self fulfilment, only motivated by their vicarious life they lead through their game and that game's needs. | ||
