I really hope the Kespa players do well!
The pressure is on them to improve fast!

I honestly think the KeSPa players will be practicing sc2 mostly, you think they want to lose to their former B teamers or practice partner level teammates. They don't want to be embarrassed when this happens. I think they will do better than what most of you are foreseeing at this point. Will they win it? Doubtful, but I don't think it will be a clean sweep by any means

Very few foreigners have a KR account to their name...

Speaking of which, the qualifiers start on the morning of July 3rd, while the Ro4 matches don't take place until at least the week after that, so how will they know who is seeded into the next OSL and who needs to go through the qualifiers? There's a Ro8 match between Fantasy and SoO that very night of the 3rd. Does that mean Fantasy has to waste his time preparing for the qualifiers instead of trying to make Ro4 (even if he later earns a seed, should he win the whole thing anyway)? This has to be the most poorly organized way of doing this conceivably possible. maybe you missed where it says KeSPA players will have their own avenue of qualification? Ah. I suppose I did. Even then, pretty sure they're not going to postpone the start of the entire tournament until PL ends in late September. Knowing KeSPA, I wouldn't be surprised if they pulled the plug on the Hybrid PL after the OSL final and just went fuck it, lets go full on SC2. Wait, what are they going to tell sk telecom (their sponsor) then? We just "Didn't feel like it anymore" lol? Has something like that happened before? I know about the gomtv classic, but a pl league? They'll probably only do it with sponsor approval, and judging by the recent trends, I don't think sponsors will really mind. They probably prefer SC2 over SC1 (from a marketing POV), but Korean fans will probably be disappointed that BW really ends. We'll see. Even the ones still in OSL are probably practicing SC2 80%+ of the time and only practicing BW the day before or the day of their match. It's still not easy to play both games due to differing game mechanics and hotkeys.
They use Brood War hotkeys for both games.

Current attendance is down, I can see the same thing happening here after the novelty fades. HotS needs to be a miracle cure.

I literally don't know any foreigner who have their own KR account, you need a Korean social security number to have one. I wonder if they enforce that rule.

Don't expats have some kind of ID on their visa or pasport that they can use to replace SSN?

You can make a KR account with your ARC # if you have one.

They said the tournament was open for foreigners before so I imagine they didn't consider that about Battle net and they probably won't enforce it for foreigners.

Can someone confirm that this is for KR server only , because opener hasn't stated it ? It only states that you have to be masters or higher at the end of Season 7 it doesn't say that it has to be on the korean server .

Safe to assume it would be Korean server, as how else are you going to login at qualifiers/check the name on the account.

GOM requires that competitors need to have their own account for Code A qualifier, but they also said that it doesn't have to be a Korean account. My guess is that this is similar to GOM's.

KeSPA players will have their own, separate qualifiers
Well I can definitely see why they are making kespa players to play with them selves only because you don't want gsl pro's to stomp our poor kespa players at sc2. Good luck anyway to the proleague team.

non-Kespa section of the tournament would be pretty intense since we are talking about a very limited number of spots and a large player base + foreigners.

I would not be surprised in the least if they did this. I don't know about the tv ratings but the Hybrid format is clearly affecting the live attendance. It's hard for me to believe that a pure SC2 Proleague would have worse attendance than what we're getting now. And if they're not getting an attendance boost from BW then that kind of defeats the purpose of having a hybrid league in the first place.

Is it possible that a Taiwanese account would be covered by that? Because the servers are merged and you can have a taiwan account to your name.

They can still qualify, I'm sure most of them are in Masters or GM, can't think of anyone who would be in Diamond on those teams.
