As the title suggests, myself and a few people at ESFI made video-recaps of the GSL Season 2 Code S.
Code S Grand-Finals: Code S Semi-Finals: Code S Quarter Finals: Code S Round of 16: Code S Round of 32 part 2: Code S Round of 32 part 1:
Any feedback is appreciated and very much welcome. Do you have suggestions or tips for next season's recaps? Let us know through a comment or a tweet @lyrlian or @esfiworld.
are you allowed to do this? I always thought GomTV had every channel that posted their stuff closed. Other than that, you seem to be making nice videos^^ Good Work!

Video ReCaps is one thing that Starcraft 2 needs to become more popular, nobdy has the time to watch every game fully.
But will well done recaps and commentary and focus on the important stages and decisions trough the game, a VoD can become even better and more entertaining.
Great recaps. I just wonder is this legal? I hope it is but since GSL is pay to watch, isn't this stealing content. I hope i am wrong and keep up the good work.
Didn't watch many of these live, the video recaps are awesome. Tournaments should do this all the time, it's a lot better than reading about the games you missed.
Need more for the other leagues like DH, NASL, MLG, IPL etc. Oh redbull LAN would be nice. You should do a Last Shadow interview. The kids a good player.

They linked it on their own twitter so doubt GSL minds(As long as its recaps ofcause), it is also very good PR for them
Only watched the code S finals recap but I really enjoyed it, greating commentary style!
Have you considered making this a regular thing? As in, a weekly (hell, bi-weekly!) summary of major leagues/showmatches? Might be a bit of a problem with volume of content and obtaining permission but it would be really cool to see. Of course, you'd still need separate bulletins for big lan tournaments.
Looking forward to whatever you guys produce in future!

We have considered doing this for other tournaments. The thing is, the process of producing high quality recaps like this is that it takes a lot of time.
1. Bill McHale and Reece Flexner write the script, they basicly write literally exactly what I say during recaps. This takes them 4-6 hours. They have to watch all the games, take notes, and then write things up nicely.
2. Myself (Kaj Landman) voices the scripts they made, I'm european, they're american, so there are sometimes some timezone issues. It takes me about an hour to voice and encode the audio files.
3. I send the voice files to Mike Nguyen who is the video edditor and he also watches all the games, takes about the scenes which are being discussed in the audio, and lines everything up nicely. He also adds all overlays and intro's/outro's. I would imagine this takes him somewhere between 2-4 hours.
As you can see the process involves 4 sometimes even 5 persons which makes it even more time consuming. That is why it's hard for us to do more than just the GSL Code S. Another reason why we don't do this for other tournaments is that the demand is just much much lower. But we will take anything in consideration, suggestions are welcome!

That would be amazing ^^ for now we don't make money with our work, but nobody feels we need that (: so it's all k.
Thank you everyone for all of the positive feedback, it is tremendously appreciated! Especially since all of us put a ton of amount of work into these videos. Like Lyrlian said, these recaps are extremely time-consuming so we can't unfortunately make recaps of other big tournaments. It takes me like 2-4 just to get the footage I want and then about 10 hours give or take to edit the video lol. Please give us any critiques or anything you like to see next season as we always strive for improvement.
