It is one of the most important holidays of the year in Sweden, and probably the most uniquely Swedish in the way it is celebrated. The main celebrations take place on the Friday, and the traditional events include raising and dancing around a huge maypole." - Wikipedia I don't usually partake in this activity personally though ^^ Well, Midsummer is on June 22-23 this year, which means the weekend AFTER Dreamhack, so that cannot be the reason for having the tournament like this. Maybe they want to spread out the different tournaments? I don't know when the other finals are though, only care about SC2.

Last DH the vods of the entire day were up on twitch like 5mins after the day ended, im guessing this also will be the case this weekend. (at least i hope so)

Do the additional spots go to the last minute open qualifier, the player with points, or something else?

Please use reason, do you really think 1.000.000 [ONE MILLION] unique people tuned in to watch DH Stockholm? really? It really irks me when people put "statistiks" over reason. It is simply not true, can't you make that out yourself? How many active starcraft 2 players are there worldwide? maybe 2 million? (I think that is an exaggeration but lets say it is 2 mil) do you mean that half of them tuned in to watch DH STHLM? Even if people who dont play tuned in it wouldn't mkae much of a difference. Even if i missquoted or their article said something else it doesnät change the fact that there is no chanse that DH sthlm had 1 million unique viewers. Do you think it did? really? yeah, I'd be surprised if even 100,000 truly unique viewers tuned into to watch sc2, the stream rarely gets over 50k, 1 million is totally misleading and probably only used to draw advertisers etc

According to MLG they had 4.7 million unique viewers and a peak of 437,000 concurrent viewers. This is of course including LoL. But DH also counts LoL viewers. http://www.majorleaguegaming.com/news/mlg-spring-championship-largest-north-american-esports-event-ever When it comes to dynamic IP it really is not relevant since it only changes when you restart the router/modem for most people. 1 million unique viewers does not sound impossible, especially not when you count LoL. A lot of viewers don't even own starcraft.

Day 1 is nothing but pro's versus randoms and because they refuse to pay stipends we will have another underwhelming player pool. I don't mind the fact that they dont pay stipends because its their decision really but I think it does definitely hurt the tournament. I enjoy watching underdogs and up and comers but I would say I have only heard of 25% of the players in the tourney and like you said its pretty much 1 known player per group. The underdogs got to have someone to beat. It's only my opinion but I feel like this is just easy money for about 5 of the players that are really good and the first day will be spent watching EU playhem with special guests instead of a top tournament.

I mean the group of death is Stephano, MVPtails, jonnyrecco, and Mojagy. It's often two known players per group, and it's not MVPTails, it's a Swede nicknamed Tails. The other known player in the group is Jonnyrecco.

Ya I edited it out once I realized it was a Swedish flag. And I watch a lot of SC2 (admittedly less in tune with the European scene) but its hard for me to recall more then 1 player from most groups. But again this is a European tournament so I guess it makes sense that most of the players are European. For me its just not as exciting as seeing some top tier Koreans fighting it out because these just arent top tier players. I guess a Ret vs Nani match would be cool. Or of course T zain winning would be nice to see.
