DreamHack presents the 2nd stop in DreamHack EIZO Open sponsored by EIZO, AMD Sapphire and Twitch.TV which will be the official StarCraft II tournament at DreamHack Summer 2012. Registration is now open and below you’ll find all information you need to participate in the tournament.

The DreamHack EIZO Open first stop in Stockholm was a huge success with Mousesports ThorZaIN and TSL Polt qualifying for the SEK 550 000 Grand Final at DreamHack Winter 2012. Now it’s time for the second stop at DreamHack Summer 2012 with another 2 slots to the Grand Final and additionally 200 000 SEK in prize money to the top-4.

Tournament spans over 3 days with same open tournament format
At DreamHack Summer 2012 the tournament format will be very similar to the DreamHack EIZO Open Stockholm but played over 3 days. The maximum capacity is 128 players and all players, pro’s and amateurs start on equal terms.

The Tournament consists of 3 group stages with 4 player groups, where the best 2 players advance to the next stage. The playoffs is played Single Elimination BO3 from Round of 16 until the Semifinals. Grand Final is played BO5 in DreamArena Extreme in front of the huge on-site audience and millions of viewers around the globe.

On top of the 200 000 SEK up for grabs, Top-2 will get direct qualification to the Grand Final at DreamHack Winter 2012 and top-16 will be awarded qualification points. These are crucial points if you want to be part of the very exclusive 24-player Grand Final tournament at DreamHack Winter 2012 with 550 000 SEK in the prize pool.

All streams in Free HD
DreamHack.TV through our streaming partner Twitch.TV will provide 2 official StarCraft II streams throughout the tournament where some of world’s best casters will shoutcast the most interesting matches. Additional community streams will be available. All streams are broadcasted in free HD. More information including casters and streaming schedule will be released soon.

Location: DreamHack Summer 2012, Hall C, Elmia, Jönköping, Sweden
Date: June 16, 17, 18
No of players: 128
Signup: Open sign up
Platform: PC, Latest available patch
Tournament format: Group stage BO3 with 4 players in each group with 3 stages where the top-2 advance in each stage (128 players, 64 players, 32 players) and Playoffs Single elimination BO3 from RO16 with BO5 Grand Final.
Schedule:
16th of June: Tournament start 11.00, Group stage #1 & #2
17th of June: Group stage #3
18th of June: Playoffs and Grand Final 23.15.
Detailed schedule to be released later on.

Prize & point distribution:
1. SEK 100 000 + Direct Qualification to DreamHack Winter 2012
2. SEK 50 000 + Direct Qualification to DreamHack Winter 2012
3. SEK 25 000 + 20 qualification points
4. SEK 25 000 + 20 qualification points
5-8. 12 qualification points
9-16. 5 qualification points

Just like all our previous tournaments, it’s a first come - first served scenario so all pro’s and amateurs out there need to be quick and sign-up for the tournament.

1.B) If you do not have a ticket then you need to proceed and buy a ticket (minimum requirement: Event pass) for 550 SEK at http://bokning.dreamhack.se. Choose English, register your personal account and follow the instructions on the web page. Pick ‘Event pass’ under the DreamHack Summer 2012 button. [/b]

I am not a fan of 128-player tournaments with only top 4 getting prize money, besides that everything is looking great as always.

My thoughts too. Top 8 should be awarded prizes. And with three days to use (I realize the schedule might have been an issue at DH Stockholm) there really should be enough time to play Bo5 semis and maybe also Bo5 quarters. Bo3 semis feels rather meh.
