+ Show Spoiler +

Your thoughts on making ro8 as first place?

I was confident about advancing but taking first place likes this is surprising. I was stressed a lot by the matches so I’m thrilled to have won the winner’s match and not go to the final match.

Your first match was against Leenock

I like PvZ so I was well prepared. That’s why I chose him in group nominations. It feels great to have my revenge for losing to him last GSTL.

Were you expecting to take on MVP in the winner’s match?

Since there were only Terrans and Zergs in my group, I was well prepared. So I didn’t care who I faced.

You seem to playing much better lately. Any special reason?

Before, I got so nervous that I couldn’t control my units properly. Now, I get less nervous and play more comfortably. I’ve become used to Mok Dong studio after coming here so often. I think the Cheong Sim Hwan (T/N: herbal medicine for calming) is working well (laugh).

You didn’t leave the booth for a while after your victory

I wasn’t crying but the commentating team said that I was which was embarrassing. Same thing happened at Dreamhack last time just because I covered my mouth with my hand. I just have a habit of covering my mouth, I never cried! I was just very moved.

You take on Supernova in ro8

I think it will be hard since we share the training house. This is the first time I have to do this so I’m not sure how I’ll practise at all. Still, since one of us will get to ro4, I will play without being pressured too much.

Anything to add?

I want to thank the sponsors TwitchTV, LittleAppFactory and Razor. My father usually always watches my games and advises me on areas that I am lacking in and it’s very helpful. I want to thank my parents who cheer me on. I want to thank the players who helped with practice: Jookto, Aria, Leesy (T/N: the Korean name was Lee, Seung Yun and Leesy was the only name I could find on TLPD. It's possible the Korean name was a typoe and it's actually Lee, Seung Hyun = ZenexLife), DRG, Fin, Illusion, and theStC. In particular, DRG helped with practice even on the day before his own match.
I am friends with SlayerSEve and she encourages me before games which helps a lot. I am very grateful. I want to thank theWind, CeZanne, Gon who’s in the army at the moment, TL members, oGs members, Nazgul and Bumblebee and both the Korean and foreign fans. (T/N: Hero likes thanking people and it makes my fingers ache)

+ Show Spoiler +

You’ve made ro8 after some close matches

I’m relieved that I’ve advanced. I think I can play with an easy mind now that I’ve secured next seson’s Code S spot.

Were you expecting difficult games?

I knew that they weren’t going to be easy because my condition is bad today but today’s matches exceeded my expectations.

What did you think about the group?

People told me it was a group of death but I was satisfied. July was the one I chose so I was confident about beating him and I have experience beating Hero in foreign tournaments. I had some debts to pay Leenock so I saw it as a great opportunity.

Your skill level has dropped a lot recently, do you feel it yourself?

I do. The health problems do affect practice after all. Other players keep progressing but I remain stationary. My hands felt numb after my games against Leenock today. If the match went on any longer, I would have lost.

Are you working hard to regain your health?

I have a hospital appointment for next week. I will start intensive treatment next week.

You take on Naniwa in ro8

Naniwa has a huge momentum so the match will be close. I think whichever player manages to practise better will win. If I win, it will be 3:2.

What are your plans on foreign tournaments?

I won’t be attending for a while. I will only attend ones that my team thinks are absolutely necessary.

Anything to add?

I practised for three days and IMTrue helped me so much. I want to thank I want to thank True, my parents who cheer me on from home, my older sister and also celebrate with my girlfriend whose birthday is coming up soon.

Eve and Hero <3.

Also awww DRG & Hero practicing sounds awesome. Hero friends with Jaedong AND Drg, not bad for someone who's arguably one of the top Protoss Z snipers.

Eve has a huge crush on Hero haha ><

Also Aria helping Hero is really interesting, I really wonder how he has been progressing since we haven't seen anything from him in forever.

And I misread one of the thank you names as Jaedong while skimming it at first, was quite funny as you can imagine.

I think I saw an oGsAriA in a recent ESV.TV Korean Weekly match. He did seem to have a lot of unrefined potential in that game against Huk that was famous several months back. oGs does need good players now that Zenio is on Liquid and NaDa is on Complexity.

hmm, i just copied the name from TLPD without looking into it too much, i'll edit to say that

It was probably ZenexLife, 이승현 Lee Seung Hyun.

Poor MVP. Hope his hospital visit next week helps!

Like he said, I think the person with the most practice will take the series, and with Naniwa at DreamHack, that may be a bit hard to do.

if he does beat mvp it is because of 2 reason.

1. mvp health
2. Naniwa is playing some great sc2

would he beat mvp 100% in the gsl with time to prepare? Probably not. Does it matter? No. A win is a win is a win.

That would be kind of shitty for everyone involved. If Naniwa wins it's cheapened because MVP is injured and of course it sucks for MVP if he loses, there is no worse feeling than being held back from pushing yourself 100%. I wish MVP the best of luck in recovery, I truly hope he takes it seriously and does not push himself too hard in anticipation for the upcoming matches. I think it would be better for him to take it easy until he's healthy enough to go at it again without worry of causing more injury and possibly damaging his career.

wow Naniwa doesn't play his Ro8 match versus MVP until May 2

that's a whole lot of time to prepare

Oh wow I didn't realize it was that far away, both players have a solid two weeks to prepare.

This means that Nani going to Dreamhack probably won't affect the outcome of the match, he will still have plenty of time to prepare when he gets back and Mvp is going to be resting for most of the time I imagine.

Well, considering group selections was on Sunday, practicing for 3 days makes sense... This is one of the shortest turnaround times between games in gsl since they skipped a week for ipl4. Usually there is 1 week to prepare.

I feel so bad for MVP. He needs to just stop playing, and get his body right before coming back. If he gets healthy, he will easily regain his form, even if he is out of gaming for a few months.

Congrats to hero!

I feel so bad for MVP though. He know his skill level has dropped yet he's still able to make Ro8 in GSL. Pretty damn impressive. I hope the hospital visit goes well and he can start to play the game again without any pain/numbness.

Thanks for the translations! And so happy that HerO made it to the Ro8 in his first Code S run. This is shaping up to be a very interesting season. So excited I will be in Seoul for the finals this time.

DRG trounced RevivaL in under 10 min in their Code A matches. So he had plenty of time to practice with HerO, haha. Interesting that he would help beat the last two remaining Zergs in Code S. I guess he really wants to make sure that both he and Nestea remain the only Zerg GSL winners for a while, hehe.

Didn't MMA have a thing going with Eve?

Finally, I hope MVP will rest properly and not give NaNiwa a free win to Ro4. The opponents in Ro32 and Ro16 already did not really play as good as they should have.

It's imùpossible to not cheer for MVP when you read about his story at the moment.
Making ro8 while having such problem is so impressive.

I hope his treatement goes well. I think he proves he can still do well, even if he don't beat Naniwa.

MVP praticed for three days and still got through. Impressive to say the least. It also shows that he has to have nerves of steel with going in such a hard group knowing his condition and having a hospital appointment next week. That is almost as impressive as him dominating the scene in 2011.

You should check if there's a second "Byun, Jeong Geun" not AriA (AriA was the name that came up on TLPD for that Korean name). Though Byun, Jeong Geun isn't exactly a common Korean name, I'd think...

To be fair, selection was on Sunday night and the games were played on Thursday. So 3 days of practice was actually really good. I am more concern about his hands feeling numb at the end of the Leenock match. Hopefully the treatment he will get will improve his condition. But I think getting to Ro8 is huge for him because he doesn't have to worry about dropping to Code A and having to possibly play in Up and Downs.

Another interesting thing from his interview was about foreign events. Seems like a lot of 'star' players feel the need to help their team's exposure by going to foreign events. He knows he shouldn't travel too much in his condition but will do it if his team needs him to. It is probably for the sponsors.

Just to point out guys - AriA is on my team dtG, not oGs. (Alongside our new champ GGandol! )

I have a couple of casts of him up on my channel - http://www.youtube.com/results?q=dtgaria&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=w1&gl=AU

Edit: Actually perhaps I'm wrong and there is a second AriA? I'm going to have a chat to our aria and check.

Damn man I didn't know this. You need to tweet more about these casts and bits of info more! I been trying to keep an eye out for AriA since his famous game vs HuK.

Mvp's confidence seems shot. Good opportunity for Nani here..

Can you really blame him for what his condition has been for the past few months? I think it's actually pretty good for how much time he seems to be putting into practice.

That's fucking awesome that Hero's dad watches all of his games and gives him constructive criticism.

Naniwa will beat MVP and people will just blame it on MVP's health

if he does beat mvp it is because of 2 reason.

1. mvp health
2. Naniwa is playing some great sc2

would he beat mvp 100% in the gsl with time to prepare? Probably not. Does it matter? No. A win is a win is a win.

Naniwa beat Mvp in the MLG Global Invitational, which was before Mvp's wrist issues came up, so I definitely see him winning now.

You should check if there's a second "Byun, Jeong Geun" not AriA (AriA was the name that came up on TLPD for that Korean name). Though Byun, Jeong Geun isn't exactly a common Korean name, I'd think...

edit: nvm me, had a brainfart,

Wait....is there really a Korean with Byun in his name? In case everyone doesn't already know...Byun means feces lol.

I definitely put NaNiwa as the favorite in the upcoming match. He has alot of momentum right now which will be difficult to stop. But you also can't count MVP out based on a series played a few months back. The metagame has changed since then and the GSL format allows for extensive preparation. I'm not saying that that will necessarily help MVP more than NaNiwa because NaNiwa's preparation is also a strong point of his. I'm just pointing out that the circumstances of this Ro8 Code S match are alot different.

The biggest difference being that Mvp is suffering from a wrist condition at the moment
